Oh really? Since when those fleets are positioned in that areas? Since the revolution or since decades?

How about the protests in China which was actually initiated by a tiny group? The Chinese security agenciens were freaking out. Just imagine when large groups stage protests and this is only a question of time because growth is not infinite. I dont see anybody in the West fearing that protest apart a Islamist take over which is currently unlikely since the people know thtat it would replace a dictatorship by another one.

strongly disagree by only showing one fact. Who fears more that the Arabic revolution might turn to its own territory. I will give you hint. You will not find a single Western country which founds this situation in the Middle East worrying, but those countries which strengthen their fist of oppression ever since this revolution started.

Cheers.

Oh really? Why don't you have a look to see where the US 5th and 6th Fleets are stationed at this time. That,to me,looks very worrying.

Now if you really want to see who really had an interest in maintaining the status quo in Libya why don't you have a look where the colonel holds the assets he stole from his country.I am sure that China and Russia won't be on the list.

I for my part as a citizen of a Western country are proud and happy to see what happens in the Middle East. The air of freedom is fresh and sweet and more people in this world will demand that. The domino in the Middle East is just the beginning and in the end it will mark the demise of dictators all around the world. In fact, it started 1989 and was brought to a halt for the last 2 decades. But now it rolls again, I say "keep on rolling!"

Cheers!

The riots by the CIA founded group started in Benghazi -hardly a surprise since this is the "oil district".
War street, the Usraeli forces and their NATO wolfpack are on high alert, OIL, the biggest reserves on the continent with almost no sulphur and easy to extract, spells troubble for ordinary libyans starving for (what they believe is) democrasy (anglo-american style). After years and years of struggle and trouble making, the US (and especially)israel finally got the second largest reserve, Sudan, separated into two independent parts. Loosing Libya is not an option....
(wtf, 26 February 2011 22:30

I can see where you're coming from but as
far as the Libyan opposition is concerned
there are only few scant details about them.

I would like to believe that the opposition to gadaffi represents a genuine popular movement of the Libyan people alone and there are no part of any
foreign plan either for dividing or dominating the country.

Ida now I know with certainty that you are the sister of highduke and with brother Gaddafi (as highduke stated it) you 3 are siblings.

Yes, loosing your brother Gaddafi would be a hard financial/economic blow to Serbia. I understand your anguish.

Read the article - the sanctions are on Qadaafi and his associates, not on the people. Freezing or, even better, seizing in the name of the Libyan people, those foreign bank accounts is a good way to get people's attention. The idea is not so much to convince Q, who is probably unconvincible, but the members of the government and the army who may be pondering what happens on the day after Q is gone. If enough of them start thinking clearly and going over to the opposition, it'll be all over soon, no matter what Q and his sons decide.

This is totally different from Egypt.

Right, Russia, China, etc. the rest of this kind. They always support that lunatic and the people there know THAT. They don't want this anymore. They want FREEDOM. So spare us with your Anti-Western stance which comes out of reflexes.
(JohnC., 26 February 2011 15:37)

Russia and China have never purported to hold the high moral ground and never advocated regime change by outside
forces in the name of liberty and freedom like the US winbags.

But since the protests started in the Arab world one could see that Obama had no strategy at all on how to deal with the situation.

He licks his index finger, holds it aloft to see which way the wind of public opinion is blowing, and goes from there. He handles domestic matter the same way.

Now if you really want to see who really had an interest in maintaining the status quo in Libya why don't you have a look where the colonel holds the assets he stole from his country.I am sure that China and Russia won't be on the list.

Everyone has a valid point on their posts regarding Libya...overall it's a mess and the wave of discontent continues to spread. However, labeling the situation as GENOCIDE, which John posted is incorrect.

The eyeball exam of Genocide should be Nazi Germany, Rwanda, or Cambodia for example. The term Genocide is often casually used, belittling a true Genocide and mass murder by a state against a people.

The Arab people have
already formed their opinions on the treacherous role of the US and the West in general and they're not going to change now.
(Leonidas, 26 February 2011 14:39)

Wrong, there is never to late to stop a mad man from massacreting his own people. Ghaddi's regimes is crumbling and falling apart but certainly not dead. He is well capable of creating a lot of death. Just look what primarily his mercenaries are doing. That is genocide.

And please spare us with the old song. The West lifted sanctions only a few years ago. Ghaddaffi's rule however doesn't derive from those few years, but the 35 years before. And who supported him and gave the position he inherits now? Right, Russia, China, etc. the rest of this kind. They always support that lunatic and the people there know THAT. They don't want this anymore. They want FREEDOM. So spare us with your Anti-Western stance which comes out of reflexes.

Now that protesters are inside Tripoli fighting Gadaffi's thugs the US is trying to regain the high moral ground with ineffective sanctions. It's too little and too late. The Arab people have
already formed their opinions on the treacherous role of the US and the West in general and they're not going to change now.
