it probably would have helped if the "ordinary" people didnt... you know, cheer, put, and keep that lunatic in power in the first place.

YOU can talk about milosovic until you are blue in the face... it doesnt absovle the "ordinary" serbs of their responsibility nor does the fact that you use milosovic as a scapegoat today, make them into victims.

"Make no mistake the Serbian diaspora is just as if not more important than Serbs in Serbia today"

Dear Mr. Australian. Serbia is a place. A real place, with real people living it it.

It is not some sort of wax-museum that exists for the purposes of entertaining your nostalgia and buttressing your personal identity.

These are all “feelers” sent out to test the waters. How do the Serbian people and its diaspora feel about NATO and would they after 12 years accept NATO officials holding a conference in Belgrade.
Make no mistake the Serbian diaspora is just as if not more important than Serbs in Serbia today and there is a great push to change their minds towards the west. For my money I would gaol every Serb politician that would allow this to happen, especially that pathetic excuse for a defence minister, Sutanovac. While NATO was bombing our people they were telling us they were only attacking Milosevic and now for Serbs to turn around and allow those rats in our country – that’s unthinkable.

Wow, I never thought that I would agree with Ian, but here we are.

I too am very upset at Australian soldier being sent to fight for American interests.
The bigger tragedy is that it's not even in American's interests but in the interests of the elites. I would never agree for a child of mine to die just to make rich richer.

About NATO somehow being in Kosovo in there interests of Serbs is ridiculous. How how they helped the Serbs so far? How many Serbs have been killed and cemeteries destroyed?
Sure, ask the fox to guard the chickens.

The decision as to whether Serbia should join NATO or not should be for Serbia only. If they think that Serbia will benefit from doing so then by all means join NATO. However the Cold War is long over and NATO has become the US's way of controlling the armed forces of Europe and Canada. For this reason I want the UK to leave NATO. Also I personally see no need for Serbia to join NATO either, why would Serbia want to serve US interests and send soldiers to their deaths?

It is really upsetting to see my countrymen coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq in body bags. They died for nothing other than serving US interests and that is completely wrong. Let the Americans fight their own wars. Harold Wilson didn't give into US pressure and he refused to send soldiers to Vietnam, however Blair became 'Dubyas' lapdog and did as they said. Blair should be tried for War Crimes as should Bush.

I cannot envisage Serbia belonging to an organisation that not so long ago did its best to destroy her. It would imply that she had lost her self respect. We can go on about Milosevic until we're blue in the face, but the hard facts are that ordinary people suffered and died as a result of what NATO warplanes did. I think the people of Serbia who were forced to endure that terror would never forgive their leaders for imposing that on them. It was an act of aggression that will never be forgotten by those on the receiving end.
