Now THAT is a big loss of course. But who thinks about eighty-something virgins waiting just behind the corner does not care less about Sharm el-Sheikh.

Big loss for whom? Not the 40% of Egyptians surviving on $2/day.

Also do not confuse poverty with the religious nutters and their paradise. This is really a struggle for survival above anything else.

So does Russia and USA. Remember, the hornet nest in Northern Caucasus has Mullahs as a great source of poison (and bombs).

Besides, Egypt (and Tunisia) is a prime destination for tourists from Europe, USA, Russia, Israel (Israelis won't go to Tunisia tough - but many spend money in Egypt).

n America a number of American critics, such as Pat Buchanan and Juan Cole, have accused American neo-con's of putting Israeli interests above those of America. This same line of argument was used in the Dreyfus Affair involved the wrongful conviction of Jewish military officer Alfred Dreyfus for treason. The case caused a political scandal and divided France through the 1890s and early 1900s. It is more generally an accusation leveled at Jews through history by their political oponents or anti-semitic detractors. America today is no different.

Neo-nazi conspiracy theorists in America such as David Duke have attacked neoconservatism in America as advancing 'Jewish interests.' Such attacks have used classic anti-Semitic imagery and themes.

Jews control the media is a Far Right Myth recently adopted (but often adjusted to "Zionists control the media") by the far left as well. Media control is one part the antisemitic conspiracy theories that Jews control the world, something pushed by the protocols of the elders of Zion and used by both Tzarist Russia and the Nazis to justify attacks on Jews.

The Jews control the media originally started with the far right, Fascism needed a group to scape goat. The more recent rise of the Zionist control the media myth in the far left is a combination of coding Jews as Zionists or Israel, and a scape goating of Israel for the faults of Imperialism (typically British Imperialism). This is pushed by Arab groups in an attempt to get favourable press coverage and discredit Israel in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

He said the United States cannot forcefully dictate how quickly Mubarak steps down, but he hopes a representative government will soon emerge, one that the U.S. can work with as a partner.

Since the eruption of the Egyptian crisis the US has been sending bizarre messages which in order to be decoded one has to look at the Israeli government and the Israeli lobby in US. Washington’s' Middle East policy is Israel centric. Israel has enough players in US Congress and other Agencies to ensure that Israel's interest is put before US, and this is a case in point.

Israel would ideally like Mubarak to stay, because he’s a completely pushover for Israel, giving rise to comments from people such as Blair, that Mubarak is ‘immensely courageous and a force for good'.
Since Israel and the US realized that the game was up for Mubarak they are now backing Omar Suleiman (spy-chief and general thug) as an alternative dictator.

The choice between Mubarak and Suleiman is not the choice of the Egyptian people on the streets, but that of the US and Israel . It is not a choice at all, since assigning the task of a transition from tyranny to democracy to the regime's principal henchman, a torturer and a murderer, will ensure that Egypt remains 'on side' and democracy is deterred.
