@Simpatiku. Oh, it was way easier to blame directly albanians for everything rather than get into these complicated (deep) reflections!!

My wife (Hungarian) was not frigthened from the Jews, she tought they were quite funny especially those ortodox ones? I just wonder where dod you live Joe?

There are some facts that our dear diaspora serbs either don't know or they choose to ignore in order to blame albanians for this threat from Brussels. Facts are:
1. Kosovo Albanians and Kosovo Serbs can not travel to Schengen countries without visa even if they are Serbian passport holders. That was the condition put on Serbia by EUC on which Serbia has agreed, in violation of its constitution. This means that if an Kosovo Albanian is Serbian passport holder can enter one of Schengen countries only if immigration officer at passport control does not know his job which is something rare but can not be excluded.
2. No Kosovo Albanian needs a Serbian passport for illegal entry in Schengen countries. According to fact 1, this passport does not enable easy way in this country, therefore is useless for this purpose.
3. The increase on number of applications for Serbian passports that come from Kosovo does not have abusive intention. Some diaspora Albanians apply for these passports in order to transit through Bosnia and Serbia for coming to Kosovo for vacation by road. This means shorter way to and from Kosovo. Kosovo passport holder can not transit through Bosnia and Serbia.
3.The organized crime and corruption in Serbia is still high. The primary example for this is the case where tens of albanians from Kosovo have obtained fictive addresses in central Serbia and were issued Serbian passports based on those addresses which ultimately grants them free visa regime. This could not happen without approval by corrupted state elements.
4.The lack of equal development in Serbia especially in Medvedja, Vranje, Bujanovac and Presevo. Serbian government must take serious steps to create jobs in these areas either by public investments or by attracting foreign investors. This will create perspective for the people of these areas and prevent them from abusing no visa regime.

Jelena you might want to try that Serbian restaurant / cafe in Ealing Common. I forget what its called but you should be able to find it on the net.

If they won't sell you something they should be able to suggest something...

Another shot would be to try asking at that Serbian owned restaurant that specialises in world dishes at affordable prices. Again afraid forgotten the name but they have one in Belgrade v close to Trg Republike and its theme is the opera. They have at least 4 branches in London and some Serb staff at each. If the person answering the phone doesn't know get them to ask the waiters or the cook etc.

Albanians can travel without Visa in Europe as can Serbs. So, stop your racist comments. Albanians from Presevo are citizens of Serbia and in fact your brothers from Mitrovica are the ones that need to apply for Serbian Citizenship in Belgrade and not Albanians. Albanians in Kosovo will soon be able to travel without visa as well as their brothers in Macedonia and Albania. Free Kosovo!

I know this is completely off both topics that were discussed here for the past two days, but I could use (and would greatly appreciate) some help on the following:
Does anybody know where in the UK I can get Hungarian sausage akin to 'Kulen'? Our stock of 'Zlatiborac' Kulen brought from Serbia is getting over, and we won’t be going anytime soon… We got, few years ago, a wonderful, flower-shaped, Hungarian spicy sausage (like Kulen) from a friend after his trip to Budapest, but I don't remember the name to look it up on the net. So, some help, please?
It shouldn't be spicy to burn the tongue, though – just piquant. :)
Thanks in advance!

LOL - How you dare to come forward with some boring Albanian-Serbian things? :D

Out of over 80 comments to the topic regarding Albanians using Serbian passports to stay in EU most were around some pretty bizarre views of a (probably imaginary?) Hungarian immigrant figure in New York.

My deepest apologies for Joe. He represents probably 5% of Hungarians as whole and maybe 20-30% of "old school" immigrants of "56" era. The small numbers also mean, these bigots are extremely loud. Probably because no one shares their views and most will kick the bucket relatively soon. If for not other reason - than just because this view of world is not healthy. No RIP, just good riddance.

Unfortunately for you, logic, and of course deduction by reasoning follows set of rules that can not be bent as it suits you. Frankly Joe you are lucky not to have your messages excluded

'Comments which include insults, indecencies, racial or ethnic hate messages and intolerance of any kind will not be published.'

Now I've never heard of such absurdities to suggest that only a certain subsect (Hungarian) of David are worthy of contempt. If there is a problem with Hungarian Jews then perhaps its the Hugarian side that is the problem not the Jewish side, did you ever think of that? The German Jews are good, Russian Jews great, Serbian Jews fine, but those Jews in Hungary! To be honest with you your own behaviour is starting to provide evidence of why Hungarian Jews might have a problem.

Additionally you are not addressing anything like the subject, rather talking of your childhood and distaste for Hungarian Jews.

I would advise the moderator to not let the subject discussion get completely derailed in future. If Jugoslavija of the 70's is of no interest to you, then why on earth would you think your personal childhood in Hungary would be of any interest to us? In fact why waste your (and our) time here at all?

Apologies to everybody for going completely off the subject. As I implied, if I were moderating there would be a harder line.

You tell Ataman," Who cares how Serbia looked like in 1978. Man do you realize that we are in 2011!!! Also who cares how it was in Hungary in 1978?"

Now, you try to "clarify" your dark and evil beliefs by saying, "On the local level too people were terrified of them because they (Jews) were much worse than Hungarian communists. I remember how myself as a child was terrified of them (Jews). These were facts still remembered by older Hungarians."

Who cares how it was in Hungary when you were a child, Joe? This is 2011!

You try to clarify your promotion of collective guilt and hatred.

There is no clarification just excuses-- sick, ugly excuses.

Just to clarify, the Dohány Street reference is a sneaky anti-Semitic jibe that Joe has managed to get in under the radar: [link]. Joe, you've blown it. You're the worst sort of racist and no right-minded person's going to listen to you ever again.
Dave

There is a big difference between Hungarian Jews and Jews in other countries like in France, Nederlands, USA just to mention a few. In the later ones the Jews were loyal, constructive citizens of their country. Unfortunately this was different in Hungary. Under the stalinist regime of Rakosi (or Roth) most of the government members were Jews. They were the henchmen of the Russians. Under them Hungary was a goulag more than any other Eastern European country. Most of them were members of the KP. On the local level too people were terrified of them because they were much worse than Hungarian communists. I remember how myself as a child was terrified of them.
These were facts still remembered by older Hungarians. You can't deny those facts. American Jews are completaly different. They are integrated and love their country not like the well-known "Hungarian" one who would like to see Croatia and Serbia start at "0" km stone in Budapest.
So before you accuse me of antisemitism try to understand some historic facts and why some people in Hungary are still very angry. People nowadays are not afraid to speak out anymore. Gone are the days when people were intimidated by trying to label them antisemits while telling the truth. I defend the Jews whenever they deserve it. I am not afraid to criticize them either. That is the reason why I was already labeled a Jew and now an antisemitic.

Jelena,
if these words are yours " It seems that my hope will be a forlorn one, all thanks to Albanians (and Roma) living in Serbia!" ... And why don't they emigrate to 'free Kosova' or Albania if Serbia is not good enough for them?", I can just perceive what i wrote in the previous post.
"A bit of news for all aspiring 'Asylum Seekers' – the time of free lounging on other people's expense is OVER, " - So I should deduce that you were in time to take advantage on that, and now, thanks to you and other "previous asylum seekers", your co-citizens cannot do it anymore.

"truth chicago" is writing as if he had a clue, but actually he´s only spreading nonsense.

Serbia, by postitioning in a multipolar world as a neutral state, acts rather smart.

but, being a k-albanian and being desperately bound to the good-will of the US of A, his opinion becomes understandable.

but, in all seriousness, claiming NATO to be the organisation that one should join, is quite naive, given that they´re having severe discussions about their further conduct in Afghanistan and Iraq.

but that´s of course too far away from southern Serbia, or even from Chicago, and our dear albanian friend is not able to look that far. =)

last but not least, Jelena you are right, his "schadenfreude" is amusing. ...but, actually there are several of our dear k-albanian friends here amusing me on a daily basis with their comments.

being descendants of the "illyrians", being friends with the US of A, having "won" against Serbia, and one k-albanian even dares to compare the k-albanian terrorists to Gandhi! absurd.... but on the other hand, very funny.

I was/still am frustrated with the chances of ALL Serbian citizens' free travel to the UK being diminished with antics of the few. @ Mike: The article holds the date 18 November 2010, so one month before viza liberalization. If you read it, you'll find out that it is just a warning (which means that nothing has happened til now) to the agencies, in light of what has (instead) happened in Serbia and co. Hence, your comment was totally offsite.
@ Jelena: So you blame "albanians and romas" as ethnically inclined to create problems to serbs, by seeking political asylum? Such an illuminated point of view! If you'd have got some "higher education" (to say it with your words), you'd know that if some groups are totally unsatisfied (i.e. they seek political asylum in some other countries) it means that the country they're coming from has been unable to create equal conditions of self realization for all citizens. The logic in this case wants to blame the country (the State and other public organizations)and not the single citizens. I can see from your comments that you don't consider all citizens of your country of origin in the same way. Still, this shows that that country has a problem. But, in the end, i also understand that you needed a place to pour your frustration and not exactly a public space where to reflect on social problematics of your country. Higher education lives somewhere else ;-)

One thing that is quite obvious about ethnic Albanians is they live in constant denial.

So between Sept and Dec, 8000 asylum seekers were registered while Presevo valley has 35,000 ethnic Albanians. So are you attempting to argue that 10% to 20% of Presevo's Albanians left within 4 months? ROFL!!

Lets look at the reality my friend. More and more KiM Albanians are applying for their Serbian passport and legitimately so. An easy way for a KiM Albanian to get an unrestricted passport is to register living at a friends house in the Presevo valley for a mere 200din (that's €2). There are no restrictions to doing that and the inmates of prison camp "Kosova" have a chance to escape. Even a villager can figure that one out.

Amer - the "monaconess" is consisting of things which were "allowed" in the West and pretty much forbidden in the East. Beginning with Sony stereo systems and ending with "normal" passports.

Extra bonuses were the much higher (by factor 10x) salaries. In Kosovo the salaries were probably at the factor 5x. This is why it did "qualify" for Monaco, but did not qualify for "paradise on Earth" Slovenia or Belgrade surely did qualify.

“Visa regime is a stupid thing that should not exist at all inside Europe. Human trafficking is also a stupid artificial problem created by the same visa regime. There was no human trafficking in Europe before WWI because no visas were required. If you introduce a restriction, you also create illegality. Like the law on smoking inside bars and restaurants. One midnight between 31 December and 1 January year 20xx the law comes into effect and suddenly you have people smoking inside bars breaking the law.
Visa regimes are the same, create borders and force people to stay in one place and you will have human trafficking.

By the way, the UK is not in the Schengen agreement, it never followed common European policies regarding immigration, so those people complaining from the UK are off target in this article.

And by the way, the source is Daily Blic, so use caution.

Too many of you are spouting complete nonsense here, utter rubbish in fact.

Why on earth some of you bother to post is beyond my understanding.

First off we are not certain where these Serbian citizens hail from. Secondly to use ethnic reasoning as an excuse (or to refer to cleansing) is complete bunk.

The primary reason people make decisions to move is economic - in other words in areas where there are few jobs such as Preshevo Serbs might well leave for Belgrade, Albanians might try Tirana or further afield, Roma will try anywhere. Its normal human patterns of activity in this capitalist system where the wealth is concentrated in particular areas.

What is highly abnormal are continual ethnic explanations told to us who appear to look at the world through ethnic lenses. In fact I think that half of you know very well you are talking nonsense, but you want to revel in the misfortune of others. Well done, you must be proud!

In the meantime those that are forced to consider all options to feed their families must think of their futures.

When you are trying to make cheap political points because of some personal neurosis you might consider these people. I know I do.

Have diplomats nothing else to do - just to judge X Y and Z to give them visa or not? And they supposed to do it after a stupid interview?

I think it was a huge mistake from the begin on that there weren't protests against visas - so this idiotic idea became the norm.

"Since 1920 you did a constant successful effort to reduce their numbers." (Joe)

-- Don't forget that there was something called the Second World War that not only resulted in the uprooting of entire communities across Europe, but galvanized victorious armies and governments to expel those communities, rightly or wrongly, for siding with the Axis. I seem to recall large parts of Vojvodina being given to Hungary and the NDH which produced significant degrees of ethnic cleansing of Serbs. With the advance of the Partisans, many decided to leave with the retreating armies. The expulsion of any communities after 1945 came on the orders of Tito's Partisans. It was not a specific Serb decision as you like to think. Ethnic Germans were also expelled to the last man in Slovenia too. Let's not forget the official policy of expulsion of Germans from Sudentenland as well - not to mention the refusal of the Czech government today to apologize.

If Hungarians are leaving Vojvodina now, it's because of better opportunities abroad than any "ethnic cleansing" nonsense you want to believe. That and Budapest is far more lively than Backa Topola.

Aloys

Aloys having people in Serbia with other ethnic backgrounds was not your choice. You inherited them when you got Vojvodina. Since 1920 you did a constant successful effort to reduce their numbers. This was also expressed recently in a good number of congratulating comments of Serbs on this site. So there is absolutely no reason to breg about the presence of the still remaining non-Serbs. By the time Serbia becomes member of the EU those remaining minorities will also be cleansed.

Also, I think Serbia is following a stupid policy of abandoning Euro-Atlantic integration. Had Serbia followed a smarter policy it would have become a NATO member by now, which would have significantly strengthened their position. Serbia has a completely insane policy which some have been trying to call "military neutrality", but it is not. It's not enough to just say that one is militarily neutral.

Serbia has a totally disoriented security policy, which is one of the reasons why their position on Kosovo is bad. Serbia is surrounded by NATO member countries which are a one big military, political and security alliance that needs an enemy(Serbia), and Serbs have set themselves up as the ideal enemy.

Had Serbia followed a smarter policy it would have become a NATO member by now, which would have significantly strengthened their position.

Euro-Atlantic integration is the only smart decision, given Serbias geographic position. That is the only option that offers Serbia and the region long term stability, the option that offers solutions to economic, security and political problems. That, however, does not suit the strong criminal lobbies that run Serbia, since acceptance to NATO and the EU entails ordering the state according to certain principles, meaning that things can no longer function the way they are now. The mafia of Serbia will never allow reform to happen because they would be out of business.

Again, Its a pleasure watching Serbia shoot themselves in the foot over and over and over. Serbia is Serbias greatest threat!

More popcorn please!! This show gets better and better.

Long live Kosova!

I wasn't in Europe in 1978, but in 1970 (or so): Ljubljana (after a summer in Slovakia) looked like Austria (no idea about Monaco - I couldn't afford it and they spoke no interesting language there) and Belgrad looked like Bratislava. Only bigger (and even hotter). I would gladly have moved to cool, green Ljubljana on the spot, if only they'd have changed the language to Slovak.

The Truth Chicago

pre 13 godina

Poverty in Serbia and lack of Democratic reform, corruption and organized crime are why people are fleeing Serbia!

Poverty is a threat to Serbia. Low living standards, low purchasing power and high unemployment are good grounds for the development of all socially deviant behaviour. Poverty is to society what a weakened immune system is to a physical body. Everything sticks to poor people: disease, crime, corruption and extremism. The poor are far more susceptible to manipulation and the price of everything declines, hence one can illegitimately control social currents with much less money. Poverty and unemployment, the latter of which has already exceeded one million people, are both very serious threats.

Organised crime in Serbia is also rampant and threatens to bring back the Milosevic era politics(not that they dont exist already). Organized crime has polluted politics and the media. Its killing the institutions in Serbia. The attempt to control state institutions by way of dirty money is the most dangerous form of corruption and its alive and well in Serbia.

Organised crime can be found in every pore of Serbian society, but mostly in politics and economy. Unless something is done about it, Serbia will fall into a new form of totalitarianism, which will be a consequence of organised crime, rather than of any major ideology, as was the case in the past. Behind all the violence on the streets of Belgrade is organised crime.

The solution lies in a radical reform of the political system and electoral law, which will enable MPs to truly act as representatives of the people rather than as outlets of their parties' leaders. If one does not have strong institutions and control mechanisms, they will be devoured by organised crime.

However, I as well as all of my fellow Kosova supporters dont even need to bet against Serbia. Serbians politicians and the citizens that elect them have made sure that they will be at the bottom in the future. Serbia spends more money on plane rides to various countries begging them not to recognize Kosova then they do to fix up their own broken down airports. They've spent money in the past for killing innocent children in Kosova, Bosnia, Croatia instead of giving their own kids the tools they need to succeed. Then Serbs wonder why their economy sucks. Its as if someone hit some big red button and Serbia is just self destructing from within.

I dont know about you, but i have a huge bucket of popcorn in my lap and Im loving watching the show unfold:)

Cheers from Chicago!!

"The worst immigrants are Hungarians who usually can't speak Hungarian properly anymore - but never will become Americans. America is an unfulfilled dream for these losers.

(Je¿ niewêgierski, 7 February 2011 16:11)"

Depends on the individual - for example, when I was in college (more like, "colleges" - I liked to move around) I had a number of post-1956 Hungarian professors. The people of my generation probably had an exaggeratedly high impression of the average level of Hungarian intelligence and education - my Russian lit professor once noticed someone cramming for a Latin test and launched into the recitation of one of Cicero's speeches (more than just the "O tempora! o mores" part). Let's say, American professors rarely do this.

As for "losers," the sad fact is that most immigrants don't make it big themselves - it's their kids who benefit. And some of the parents work to ensure this by forbidding the use of their native language at home by the kids, so they'll grow up to be "real Americans." And sometimes the parents end up losing it, themselves. Speaking a foreign language in the States does not confer any special status - it's just a sign of being a "greenhorn," and one that maybe too many people may have been too willing to give up.

Reasons:

But here the original topic was different. Illegal asylum-seekers are a well-defined group. I don't think that the visa regime will be re-introduced tough. The article is from "Blic" tabloid.

Visa regime is a stupid thing that should not exist at all inside Europe.

The simple answer for this is for EU countries to agree to a list of countries from which asylum requests will not be accepted. The simple fact is that, despite what politically motivated troublemakers like Zukorlic might profess, no one is Serbia is being persecuted and in fear of their well being. Any asylum claim is economically based and therefore spurious. None of these requests will ultimately be granted - we need to change the system so that they are not accepted in the first place.

What an absolutely brilliant strategy. Give all the albanians Serbian passports so that they can flood Germany with more unemployment, drugs, human trafficking, prostitution, and pizza parlours.
Let the Germans have a taste of their beloved fake 'Kosova' on their own soil.

Joe, did you finally gather enough money to pay the English-> Hungarian translator to fill out your Hungarian passport application?

Never had problems with Serbian or even Albanian immigrants. The worst immigrants are Hungarians who usually can't speak Hungarian properly anymore - but never will become Americans. America is an unfulfilled dream for these losers.

Besides, in order to quarrel you need:

- one Armenian immigrant + one Turkish immigrant
- one Serbian immigrant + one Albanian immigrant
- one Russian immigrant + one Georgian immigrant....

And:

- one Hungarian immigrant + one Hungarian immigrant.

They will do everything to slash each other's throats. Never seen more pathetic bunch of losers.

The European Union also said that unless this happened, Serbia and Macedonia, and after that other Western Balkans countries, would have visas imposed on their citizens once again.

So Serbia and FYROM are being singled out initially as both have very large ethnic Albanian minorities.

So if one keeps ethnic Albanians isolated they tend to spread but give them freedom and they are first to abandon their "sacred" land.

I do feel sorry for them. Europe has treated them poorly and they are still trying to dig themselves out of a hole. I can't see things changing until they stop digging and start building.

It is time to remove the criminals running the show my ethnic Albanian friends. Stop supporting these people and start building something good for yourselves. Get on your own feet and stop relying on handouts.

Visa regime is a stupid thing that should not exist at all inside Europe.

Amer,

Few days ago you asked me about Hungarian immigrants and did wonder because your experience was rather positive.

I answered you that it is a complex problem and secretly I was hoping, you will get the answers, probably straight from horse's mouth.

This 2-day marathon over-fulfilled my expectations :-)

"Very typical for ex-Hungarians who never achieved to become an American."
Ataman

It is funny to read this from somebody who was unable to make it in the US and went back to Hungary full of bitterness.
This reminds me of a Hungarian so-called "ingenieur" I knew in the New York area. Because of his sub-standard qualifications he was unable to find a job in his field. He tried to make it as a cab driver but couldn't. Back in Hungary - a very small pond compared to the US - he could hardly do better. In one thing he excelled: badmouth the US and his acquaintances who made it in the US. Very typical of loosers.

Dear Rovena,
While I can understand the appeal of trying to appear smart by throwing 'big' words around, I have to say sorry, dear you will have to try harder.
Unfortunately for you, logic, and of course deduction by reasoning follows set of rules that can not be bent as it suits you. So, no, you should not 'deduce' my current, or previous status in the UK, because you could not – you don't have enough facts in hand to make a logical conclusion. On the other hand you certainly can 'imagine' – and obviously there are no limitations on that…

At least in Serbia there are people of other ethnic backgrounds. What about your country/territorry?

Rovena

The Hungarian immigration is a very complex phenomenon. Many things do make it a complex. For instance, some (the one you do mentioned) do not care less about "Dohány" street in Budapest - the others do, just no idea why. Let Joe explain in plain, simple English what the "Dohány Street" means - if he dares. ;-)

If he dares not - than he is just in name a "hedgehog" (at least in the Russian prononciation ) because hedgehogs have spine.

Simpatiku

While I can (to an extent, as life is certainly not easy for anyone in Serbia) understand Roma situation, on what grounds do the Albanians claim asylum in Western Europe? The Truth Chicago

It's not only a problem of poverty, but more a problem of miseducation and false promises made by criminal human trafficking gangs (hello, Kosovo, hello Thaci).

It's called ASYLUM, and it's for people who are harassed or persecuted by the state. And that's definitely not the case in Serbia, so chances to get asylum granted is 0%.

I can't see things changing until they stop digging and start building.

ivan

At least in Serbia there are people of other ethnic backgrounds. What about your country/territorry?

By the time Serbia becomes member of the EU those remaining minorities will also be cleansed.

if these words are yours " It seems that my hope will be a forlorn one, all thanks to Albanians (and Roma) living in Serbia!" ...
Nice point.

Adding the Presevo valley to Kosovo would only place more people in dire conditions, and increase the numbers wanting to flee. Why would you wish that on your own people. I suggest you put your Albanian nationalism away, and concentrate on more important issues, like a better life for the people that live in Kosovo now.

Dave

The simple answer for this is for EU countries to agree to a list of countries from which asylum requests will not be accepted. The simple fact is that, despite what politically motivated troublemakers like Zukorlic might profess, no one is Serbia is being persecuted and in fear of their well being. Any asylum claim is economically based and therefore spurious. None of these requests will ultimately be granted - we need to change the system so that they are not accepted in the first place.

The original poster DID NOT say "Serbia is Monaco".
The original poster did say: "Serbia looked like Monaco compared with Hungary" and he did mean 1970-s and 1980-s.

I can testify in good faith that:

1) In 1978 Ulcinj (mostly Albanian-populated) looked like a paradise on Earth (not just merely "Monaco") compared with Hungary.
2) In 1978 Dubrovnik (Croatian-populated) looked like a paradise on Earth (not just merely "Monaco") compared with Hungary.
3) In 1978 Cetinje (Montenegrin-populated) looked like a paradise on Earth (not just merely "Monaco") compared with Hungary.

4) In 1980 Belgrade looked like a paradise on Earth (not just merely "Monaco") compared with Hungary.
5) In 1980 Skopje looked like a paradise on Earth (not just merely "Monaco") compared with Hungary.
6) In 1980 Ohrid looked like a paradise on Earth (not just merely "Monaco") compared with Hungary.

7) In 1980 Kraljevo looked like a paradise on Earth (not just merely "Monaco") compared with Hungary.

8) In 1980 Prizren DID NOT look like a paradise on Earth compared with Hungary. Kosovo looked merely like Monaco compared with Hungary.

Verdict: Except Kosovo, the Yugoslavia we (my parents, my wife, me) did see in 1978 and 1980 looked like paradise on Earth. Kosovo was somewhat more backwards, it looked "only" like Monaco compared with Hungary.

Hungary was just the most jolly part of the prison called "East Block".

Otherwise your personal attack on Jelena and underhanded way of twisting the Monaco-thing is pure Joe-rhetoric, a rhetoric of a slightly retarded, over-conservative, over-bigot quasi-Hungarian who never managed to become an American but is Hungarian no more and can be proud of nothing... and since he has nothing to say - uses personal attacks instantly.

Speaking a foreign language in the States does not confer any special status - it's just a sign of being a "greenhorn," and one that maybe too many people may have been too willing to give up.

but, being a k-albanian and being desperately bound to the good-will of the US of A, his opinion becomes understandable.

but, in all seriousness, claiming NATO to be the organisation that one should join, is quite naive, given that they´re having severe discussions about their further conduct in Afghanistan and Iraq.

but that´s of course too far away from southern Serbia, or even from Chicago, and our dear albanian friend is not able to look that far. =)

Lets look at the reality my friend. More and more KiM Albanians are applying for their Serbian passport and legitimately so. An easy way for a KiM Albanian to get an unrestricted passport is to register living at a friends house in the Presevo valley for a mere 200din (that's €2).

I was/still am frustrated with the chances of ALL Serbian citizens' free travel to the UK being diminished with antics of the few. I am sure everybody posting here is aware that the main impetus behind such moves is economic and NOT a political one. I am sure even you are aware of it, however that just could not form a base of an 'illuminated' piece you presented us with.

To Ataman and Mike,
Big thanks for balanced and witty comments you are putting here.

Free Kosovo!

for once,we should be together and say loud that viza regime is an offense to human dignity and should not exist in europe.
(lili, 7 February 2011 20:00)

Visas are idiotic because not a single time in the history visas did prevent someone with malicious intent to enter a country.

I have no idea who was the idiot who did invent them after WWI, but why, really, someone would offset the work of the police to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? Have diplomats nothing else to do - just to judge X Y and Z to give them visa or not? And they supposed to do it after a stupid interview?

I think it was a huge mistake from the begin on that there weren't protests against visas - so this idiotic idea became the norm.

(KU, 7 February 2011 17:41)”

This is close to the most absurd posting I have ever read. Human trafficking is not false asylum claims for your information. As for the original poster, she made a very valid point regarding the likelihood of the UK providing a visa waiver for Serbian citizens. You should go read it again – she knows more than you and with personal experience.

Blic – point taken and accepted

Joe,
my name is Jelena, not Yelena – it is a Serbian name, and I would appreciate you use Serbian spelling of it if you want to address me. I am not ashamed of my Serbian roots – quite the opposite, I am very proud of them, and therefore don't want or need 'westernised' name to make me feel more worthy.
I didn't really understand what my living and working (yes, people usually work for a living) in the UK has to do with you, or how is it negating the comment I made about Albanian and Roma 'asylum seekers'? If anything, it accentuates my point - if people want to migrate somewhere, there are legal and dignified ways to do it, providing you are able to meet certain criteria, of course – and those are almost universally connected with good education.

Truth Chicago,
Your delusional schadenfreude is quite amusing.

Ataman

Few days ago you asked me about Hungarian immigrants and did wonder because your experience was rather positive.
