Israel considering major settlement in Jerusalem

A new Israeli construction project could harm international efforts to revive Middle East peace talks.

Take note please.

His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.

This was 1917,at the time the mandate area was 70 percent bigger than in 1948.

Going back on their word to the jews and partioning the British mandate area into three areas.
Then to top it all the greedy Arab league attacked the Israeli state with 5 Arab armies and lost.

settlements are a red hearing.

Since settlement activity didn't cause the arab-israeli conflict, it's lot logical to assume that stopping this activity would cause the end of it.

That said, Israel should stop anyway.

The Palestinians say they will not return to peace talks until Israel halts all settlement construction in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Palestinian officials are drafting a proposal for a U.N. Security Council resolution that would condemn Israel for the settlements.

It's pretty obvious to any independent observer that current Palestinian leadership with its actions of following the discredided Bush's "road map" in the Israeli-Palestinan question has led to impasse with no obvious way out.

If the palestinians resist occupation by taking up arms, they are "terrorists". If they resist occupation by boycotting Israeli businesses operating on stolen land, they are "economic terrorists". Damned if they do, damned if they don't. And of course we are anti-semitic for writing any comment perceived to be anti-israeli.

With israeli policy determined by the rightwing biblical diaspora and supported
wholeheartedly by its US puppet master any talk of a solution is just a pipe dream and will remain one.
