The ones there are not even accused of anything
(Peggy, 16 January 2011 01:21)

So why are they there ?! Why has a judge approved the arrest warrant after seeing the evidence ?!

I thought pride is a sin in christianity, judging serbs are hardcore christians who protect europe from infedels... why would i be proud wether Kosovo is listed as a country anyway...plus 110 is not a bad score , there are 192 countries in total, so , contrary to what serbs say, Kosovo is not the most corrupt country in the world...thank you for posting the rank anyway, 78? not bad, but i thought Serbia was an example state in the region,so 78 is not that good...if Kosovo is such a corrupt country, why waste effort, money and time to incorporate it under ''perfect 78 ranking '' serbian state?

Swisscerland scoring 10th? Still it is 10th positions, which means that it is not the least corrupt country in the world... if swiss administration is more corrupt than 9 countries, then Dick Marty is not that uncorruptable as a swiss would normally be....

Peggy

ouch, the door just hit on the way out with this comment. So why are you accusing Thaci then?
====================

I was responding to a comment made by your lot about Serbian war criminals being in government.
I want to know who. Who is this person and what have they done?

Now stop diverting and please answer that question. Your lot made the statement and all I am doing is holding them to it and making them justify it.

Let's sort one thing at a time.

i did not want to imply anything, i m not blind, Albania is a corrupt country by western standarts, but so are most of eastern european countries, still, it is not the same thing, berlusconi, who is one of the richest european persons, being involved in curruption is about more money than we can imagine ...I m just saying that we Albanians, we can not afford this whole corruption anymore, enough is enough. I m not saying''see , italians are corrupt, so it is ok for us to be corrupt as well '' No. Read my post again please.

What has the reckognition have to with corruption, we can not just say to somalians that we can not appriceate their recgognitions because they are the most corrupt country on earth, what do we care anyway about corruption in somalia, there is UN and other international missions for that issue...Corrupt or not , it is one vote in the UN, and that is what we mind about...

Exactly, Dell wants a Kosovo government without corrupt and criminal persons. Similar to Marty, who simply wants investigation for some alleged criminal group and its leaders in Kosovo. But for Thaci, all people who say anything against him are 'anti-albanian', 'racists' or belong to the 'anti-independence network'. So, excuse my little joke, good luck for getting rid of Thaci, pss!

Every single Balkan country needs clean officials...from Greece to Romania, from Albania to Croatia...actually Italy is far more corrupted than all balkan countries piled together...but the difference is that Italy has a strong economy, unlike balkan countries, and can eventually afford all the corruption, but post communist countries simply can not...it is like a family having a son with gambling addiction, a very rich one can support him, but a medium or poor one can not... Unlike your politicans, our politicans dosen't have blood on their hand. How many albanians and how many serbs have been detained and convicted by international courts ? It's like 999 % serbs and maybee 1 % albanians. Our leaders and warriors haven't been convicted by any court for any criminal action. They are innocent until they are proven guilty. So Serbia have many criminals wich have been convicted while Kosovo had only one.

999%, that many????

OK, now do tell us the name of at least one Serbian politician who has blood on his hands. Which minister is he or is he perhaps Tadic? Who have the Serbs elected to parliament who is guilty of murder?
Yes, Serbs have been sent to Hague and some have died there and some were convicted but NONE have been elected to any position in the government. The ones there are not even accused of anything so do stop smoking what ever it is you are smoking.

Now let's examine what is governing your lot. Perhaps we better not. Right now we might only refer to him as Lord V.

Fancy coming out with this statement. After 12 years we have the representative of the United State of Windbags stating his country wants a clean government. What Thaci not clean enough for that cockroach of a country? Didn’t he do their bidding for the last 12 years?
I said it many times that the US was roasting on a spit over this organ trafficking issue and here is you proof. It wants to cleanse itself of any wrong doing and blame it on someone else. What an ally; it does not even stand up for its “friends”. From the likes of Lincoln to this scumbag lot – what a fall from grace!
You can see that the US lives in Disney’s dreamland where it thinks its reputation is intact and tinker bell will throw some pixy dust and all bad will go away.

Everybody can see it now: Even the USA is part of the 'anti-independence network'. Will Thaci dare to insult Dell, too? No, it looks more and more like the times of Thaci & similar characters are over. Not even the USA is willing any more to tolerate a corrupt and criminal government in Kosovo. These words and hints by ambassador Dell were as subtle as a sledgehammer! My bet is: 98% sure that Thaci won't be neither prime minister nor president.

(Mike, 15 January 2011 16:42) "

The US, Kosovo/Thaci, Albania have all called for an investigation into Marty's claims. You think justice would be better served by simply assuming an elected leader is guilty of unproved charges and preventing him from taking office?

Of course the internationals are interested in stability - people die when unstable situations turn violent. Simply preventing a return to instability and further violence is in itself a positive. Kosovo's election may have been flawed, but it was peaceful, there are mechanisms in place for dealing with the officials who looked the other way and the people who signed in under other people's names. It's not like an election in Milosevic's time, where there was no recourse when an election was stolen. (And by the way, we're talking about "irregularities" here, not a stolen election.) As Feith said, democracy is a learning process. Castigating a people for not getting it right the first time is about as far as deriding a baby for crawling before it can walk.

More strong words coming directly from the heart of Pristina's "Green Zone", but I'm not thinking much of it beyond rhetoric. Dell does not have the authority to decide who governs Kosovo; and even if he's given some nod from Washington to "push" for a strategically desired outcome, he's not about to take a major risk and call for the removal of someone who was elected to office no matter how flawed the elections were. In other words, we're not interested in turning Thaci into a Mossadeq.

What matters in Kosovo, and what as always mattered over all other objectives, is stability. Thaci was my country's groomed Eliza Doolittle and we've invested a lot of money trying to turn him into something bigger and better than the late Dr. Rugova. Therefore, it's highly unlikely we'll hear any calls for Thaci's outster on pain of risking popular opposition against the US, or more likely risking a power vacuum where the alternatives to Hash are far worse. What are the options?

Surroi - too irrelevant
Kurti - too unpredictable
Haradinaj - too unsavory

Notice the doublespeak Dell is making:

“Anybody who was convicted of a crime should not serve in the government. Even if they filed an appeal and are waiting for the final decision. The fact that you were once found guilty, even if you appealed, makes you convicted until the appeal is reviewed. These people cannot be in the government." This doesn't apply to Thaci. Yet. While many of us, myself included, would love to see him lynched by his own people, he hasn't been "convicted" of anything yet. This is Dell's subtle way of suggesting Thaci (our nest egg) is still eligible to rule. The only time we'll hear clear statements of the US backing away from Thaci and willing to throw him under the bus is

a) he is found to be connected to and convicted of the crimes mentioned in the Marty report

or more likely

b) we find a suitable Doolittle replacement for him.

Right now, stability trumps everything: standards, status, even justice.

(And by the way, we're talking about "irregularities" here, not a stolen election.) Dr. Koushner

Dell probably read the latest Dr. Vampire Frankenstein's take on KLA-run Kosovo.

"I have no intention of appearing before the EULEX court. I do not believe in Kosovo's institutions, nor in the possibility that such a crime-infested territory can ensure a fair trial, not even under the auspices of Europe and the UN," Sonmez said, when asked "why he avoids facing justice if he claims that he is innocent".

Mike

pre 13 godina

Slovenia: 27

Italy: 67
Serbia: 78
Greece 78
Albania: 87

Kosovo: 110

So?? A little hint for undestanding: A smaller means less corrupt! Or do you consider Transparancy International as an 'anti independency network' member, too?. And please, don't be proud that Kosovo is listed as a country there :)
