We all know what happens to Sarajevo police members who dare to investigate Bosnian Muslim war crimes. They get silenced quickly. Look no further than the former Bosnian intelligence agent Edin Garaplija case. As it happened, he discovered terrible crimes of the Bosnian unit "Sheve" (sheva means lark in English) who were operating under the command of the highest Muslim civil and military command. Garaplija managed to give most of the evidence to Hague tribunal, but Hague prosecution office declared it impossible to investigate. Finally, Bosnian government put Garaplia in jail for 13 years for this "treason."

All the Marty report does is set the wheels of justice into motion. If there is credible evidence, his report asks for it to be identified and the perpetrators to be brought to justice. This issue has been already investigated three time: by the Hague Tribunal when Carla Del Ponte was there, by UNMIK, and EULEX. Neither one of them complained when they did the investigation about any interference. UNMIK report was very clear: "The family living in the examined residence gave us free access to all the rooms, and we were able to perform our examinations without any important limitations."

None of these investigations found evidence to support these claims. Marty report doesn't bring forward any new evidence. If he has any, and is withholding it, it is him that is obstructing justice. If he doesn't have any new evidence, he is dealing in realm of rumors and propaganda.

Meanwhile there are 2000 Albanians missing from the war, that were kidnapped by the state of Serbia. Who knows what might have happened to them: they might have they organs taken out and it is more likely for that to happen in the military hospitals of Serbia than in the remote shacks in the mountains of Albania. Or they might have been burned in the industrial furnaces, or thrown down the river in refrigerated trucks. Unlike KLA, the Serbian state, police and army were well organized and disciplined, so there's no doubt Serbs know everything about these 2000 human beings. There has never been a public outcry in Serbia about their fate, the same Serbs that here are screaming and yelling and accusing Albanians without a shred of evidence, have never even for a second shown any remorse re missing Albanians. There has never been any investigation, let alone two, three or four as they're asking for this fantom story. The stench of hypocrisy here is overwhelming.

Investigate - there's no amount of investigation that will settle the issue once and for all. It was investigated once and we though it was cleared once and for all, then the second time we thought is was cleared once and for all. Then the third time and now the fourth time, but even if this investigated 17 times, it won't settle anything. This is a political issue, it has nothing to do with justice, this is being kept by Serbia and their cronies in the news, conveniently around the same time as they claim they are ready to negotiate with Albanians (since they obviously weren't ready to negotiate during the last round). Read this site, Serbs don't even make an effort to hide it, for them this is about weakening Albanians' negotiating position. Silly me, I thought this was about justice. On one hand they want to show EU that they want to find a negotiated solution (so please throw us some perks), on the other hand they orchestrate one of their typical propaganda campaigns to make any negotiation impossible.

You want justice? you want the truth? you want reconciliation? you want peace? Then open your state/army/police archives, so that we know what happened to our loved ones. How hard is that? It's much easier than chasing this fantastic ghost story, that no one believes anymore. Open the archives and give the families of the missing the bones of their loved ones, so that they can have a decent grave, and then maybe, perhaps, you'll find a more receptive audience on the other side, to punish all the crimes, any crime, either holding someone prisoner, or beating someone with a stick.

indeed... isnt it amazing that for nearly a decade, not a peep was heard from serbs regarding the claims. nothing. It was dead like the rest of the milosovic era propaganda stories serb govt. controlled media put out. Yet the second de ponte wrote of the propaganda (not fact mind you, she had nothing else to write about) suddenly the serb govt. popped out of the woodwork with evidence.

He said there were suspicions, there was never any proof. This was wartime, with military observers of various degrees of professionalism - it certainly wasn't CSI: Sarajevo. All three sides were conducting propaganda as part of their war effort, and generally making life difficult for poor UNPROFOR. I've been reading the Karadzic testimony on this - it's more ambiguous than you imply. The transcripts are at http://www.icty.org/case/karadzic/4#trans if you want to plow through them. Rose testified from Oct 5 to 11, I believe. K seems to be trying to prepare an appeal based on his not having been allowed sufficient time for cross-examination - he keeps asking for 20 or 30 hours for cross-examination of each witness. Most of his questions wouldn't get past an objection of "leading the witness!" in a US court, but then, the ICTY isn't a US court.

General Colin Rose has gone public that the shelling incidents in Sarajevo in the market place actually were fired from Bosnian Muslim positions. This was also corroborated by General Lewis Mackenzie, form UN General also on the ground in Kosovo.Do you really think the Bosnian Serbian Army would purposely bomb a large Sarajevo market place given the bad publicity from the press?

I Carla del Ponte writes a sentece and of this sentence Serbia is creating a fairytale/myth. He said there were suspicions, there was never any proof. This was wartime, with military observers of various degrees of professionalism - it certainly wasn't CSI: Sarajevo. All three sides were conducting propaganda as part of their war effort, and generally making life difficult for poor UNPROFOR.
