Cheaper might be, but better only the future will tell. I just read a report about a new-build Chinese city, where it was said that rust is already visible on the walls of the buildings.
(Top, 11 January 2011 10:49)

How many cities have you visited in China?

You guys are so insulated from the real world plus the 24/7 brainwashing about the greatness of the US that you think if it’s not made by the US its junk.

I’ve seen roads constructed by US contractors falling apart 2 years after completion plus bridges showing movement 4 years after construction that had to be closed down.

I know US propaganda only too well. Its cities are rotting and falling apart but they never report that in the “free press”.

No there is no room in the abyss as the US and Albanians are already there.

Borrowed money from China, to be built by Chinese......hahaha

GENIUS!!

Is there no limit to the number dumb Albanians who post on this site? You guys living in the US need to get a life and travel a little more and perhaps China should be on your list. Perhaps then you will see what the Chinese can do.
The Chinese have built entire cities and all the infrastructure that goes with it such as roads, above and underground rail system, hospitals etc. The Chinese will build the bridge cheaper and better than any other European company.
As the Australian state of NSW why its trains are being built in China.

I think it’s a brilliant idea. It’s a win win deal. But again our Wall Street Albanian fortune 500 CEO’s and investors on this forum are not agreeing with Serbias decision. On your advice I’m almost sure Serbia will cancel the deal with China.. lol...I just don’t know what would Serbia do without your guys expertise.lol.

The New Year begins and what do we hear-Albanian/Kosovan sniping towards anything Serbia does. With medical schools opening up in Kosovo in every village,TVs in every household tuned into re-runs of UK and US hospital dramas -Casualty, Emergency Ward 10, Holby City, House, one might have imagined the one time liberationists would be busy with their studies of Dr Barnard's description of his heart transplants rather than worrying about Serbia's currency dilemnas. But no, as they count out the cigareetes and fill the empty Johnnie Walker bottles ready for export, they are applying their minds to anew problem- Serbia's currency and the state of its public finances.
Should it be the Chinese promise of eternal credit (flexible but unsure what the longterm valuation might be), the Russian rouble (too old school and any loans might be called in after 2012) or maybe it should be the Euro (worthless apart from the nu-mark but that carries risk of adoption by Croatia -ouch!) so it looks like it's going be a toss up between the US Dollar (better not put picture of churches on it) or British pound sterling (how about a picture of Maclean on the new notes-a true wartime hero and friend of Tito? or maybe our friends in Pristina have a better idea?

On a more serious note, how can anybody in their right mind start building bridge from the middle of a river in eht ecentre of Belgrade without being sure the land on either bank is available or is the idea that the Chinese will keep lengthening it down the middle of the river until dry land on either side becomes available. Confucious say 'keep building until client runs out of money...'...

ahh it's a new year..

"The National Bank of Serbia should print hundred of billions of Dinars and this money should be used to re-build Serbia."

It would make more sense than simply handing the money out in the form of unemployment payments. The workers would then buy something with their (higher-than-unemployment) wages, potentially creating new jobs in the process. They might even pay taxes, meaning an immediate return of some of the money. Or is this like the NIS deal, return for political favors?

Before other posters chip in with the claim that printing Dinars will cause “hyper-inflation” they should remember that inflation is caused when new money chases existing assets; this causes economic “bubbles” such as in the housing market. (Michael Thomas, 10 January 2011 10:13)

Which is exactly what will happen when all those newly employed workers take their freshly printed dinars home to spend. Sadly, you cannot build a bridge simply by printing pictures of Nikola Tesla on bits of paper.

This bridge shows perfectly what is wrong with Serbia.

Serbia has a National bank that could print Dinars (just like the US Federal Reserve and Bank of England are doing in their own currencies). It could give these Dinars to the government which could then employ the world-famous Belgrade bridge-build company, Mostogradnja, to build this new bridge. This would give employment to thousand of Serbian workers and give a boost to Mostogradnja. (see http://www.mostogradnja.rs/)

Instead of this simple action, the Serbian government has chosen to borrow money from the Chinese to the build the bridge. Serbians will have to pay back this Chinese foreign currency loan with interest for many years to come.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the bridge will not even be built by Serbians. Chinese companies and Chinese workers are coming to Serbia to build the bridge.

This is the madness of Serbia today.

Before other posters chip in with the claim that printing Dinars will cause “hyper-inflation” they should remember that inflation is caused when new money chases existing assets; this causes economic “bubbles” such as in the housing market. If banks lend lots of people lots of money to buy the same house, then the price of that house will go up. That is inflationary. If new money is printed and used to employ unemployed or under-employed people to create new goods and services, then this is not inflationary.

The National Bank of Serbia should print hundred of billions of Dinars and this money should be used to re-build Serbia.

Down with Tadić, Nikolić, Dačić, and International Money Lenders!
