slaughter aparthied genocide they cry,but where.
CAN ISRAEL IMPOSE A NAVAL BLOCKADE ON GAZA?
Yes,Under some of the key rules, a blockade must be declared and notified to all belligerents and neutral states, access to neutral ports cannot be blocked, and an area can only be blockaded which is under enemy control.
"On the basis that Hamas is the ruling entity of Gaza and Israel is in the midst of an armed struggle against that ruling entity, the blockade is legal.
The rest of your post is rubbish.

You're probably new on the site or someone who uses a ficticious name to hide himself thus totally ignoring my views on the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

I have always condemned Israeli actions against the Palestinians in the past-a tour into B92 past articles on the subject will prove that-but what iam questioning here are the real motives of the present Turkish goverment behind the issue.

The Turkish position started changing in 2009 when Erdogan walked out of the Davos meeting after brief exchanges with the Israeli president Peres.Prior to that date Turkey was Israel's staunchiest ally in the region with $billions of Turkish weapons procurements
from Israel and thousands of israelis spending their vacations in Turkey let alone the annual joint military exercises.

Israel's policy towards the palestinians was exactly the same then as it is now, with embargoes, illegal settlements etc. What was the new element in this conflict that changed the Turkish position?

Well,it's my view that Erdogan changed his position on the issue after he was told my the German Chancellor Merkel that Turkey will not be allowed to become a member of the EU.Thus,he decided to up the stakes on the Palestinian issue with the view of becoming a leader of the Islamic world. My view is also supported by the changing of the Turkish position on the Iran-West nuclear issue when Turkey voted against the UN sanctions on Iran.

My beliefs above are also re-enforced by recent meetings of Erdogan,Ahmadinejad and Assad and their statements regarding the creation of an islamic common market.

BTW Could you name my favourite hasbara site from where i cut & paste?

It seems to me that mullah Erdogan and his buffoon foreign minister Davutoglu are desperate in their pursuit of an apology from Israel for the flottilla incident. But it also pretty obvious that such an apology will not be forthcoming from israel.

There is no doubt that Turkey is using the Palestinian issue as a play the domectic audience.Erdogan just enjoys media attention and every time he bashes israel with threats and ultimatums he scores points with his electorate. This is why the Turks have just announced that another boat will be part of a new flotilla that will leave for Gaza on May 31, 2011,just before the june general elections.

I think the decision by the Turks to send a new boat to break the Israeli embargo is a win-win situation for Erdogan. If the Israelis intercept the boat, then Erdogan will have a platform to launch his general election campaign with his usual Israel bashing and presenting himself as the leader of the islamic world.
If the Israelis let it go through, then Erdogan will be vindicated for his persistance and standing up to Israel. It's also possible that a repetition of last year's incident could explode on Erdogan's face with disastrous electoral consequences for his
party.
