Where'd you get that? The journalist who uncovered the story of the secret prisons is still at work, and in fact, received the Pulitzer Prize for her work.

Any journalist working for major newspapers was aware that writing against the Bush administration’s impending invasion of Iraq was putting at risk their jobs. This is a fact.

Approximately 600 lost their jobs because they weren’t waving the flag. This is also a fact. Unfortunately the US does not have a “free press’ as most of its citizen’s think. Many of these journos found work in local newspapers. This was mentioned on the PBS program at the time.

The secret prisons are something completely different. They were “uncovered” much later when the whole war in Iraq was going to hell in a hand basket anyway and it was hard to suppress this story as all other agencies around the world knew about Abu Grahib prison. It wasn’t just the Pulitzer prize winning journalist that was aware of this stuff, but everyone else as well.

"Few days ago Putin said: 'WikiLeaks founder arrest is against freedom of speech', forgetting that journalists are killed in Russia very often.

If you do some research you will find that journalists in the US were killed on assignment covering criminal or illegal government activities. Russia is not the only place this occurs. It’s just that western press constantly points the finger at Russia.

Are you sure?

I don't see any contradiction in what the Russians said. You can be for freedom of speech and then choose to disregard what was said.

"The US sacked 600 journalists who dared to act independently and raised their concerns about invading Iraq.

Where is the so called free press in the US????

Actually we don't give a damn about things being discussed in diplomatic circles while assessing the social processes in our country. It is just opinion,"

This is what the US should have said, or words to that affect, and it would have blown over with few remembering much about Julian Assange. The US reaction only highlights just how bad things are going for the US on both the domestic and international fronts.

As far as some who raise the issue of journalists being killed in Russia, well look at the US media; which one raised any of the questions that should have been asked except after Wiki Leaks published the e-mails. The US sacked 600 journalists who dared to act independently and raised their concerns about invading Iraq.
