"I have to say if I was an Albanian I'd want Thaci out straight away. There is a serious danger that he will trade Kosovo for these allegations to be put aside."

Absolutely not bganon. I advocate postponement of talks until either Thaci is really indicted or really acquitted of these allegations by a serious investigation. That will cost both Serbia and Kosovo in terms of time into their accession into the EU, but I think that cost is worth justice. Do not forget that the latest elections in Kosovo gave the majority to Thaci, so he is the representative of Kosovo. What you are suggesting is to get rid of a democratically elected leader based on unproven allegations. Subverting democracy based on some article of the guardian. It will not happen. Proceeding with the talks now would only create risks of instability in the future in both Serbia and Kosovo, in my humble opinion. I think Serbia does not want an unstable Kosovo either and Kosovo does not want an unstable Serbia. I am really surprised at Mr Kacin and the position of those who want talks to happen in such a poisonous environment. I understand that maybe the party of the talks were dealt a blow by somebody who wants talks to be postponed or to fail, but I would give the victory of this battle to that somebody who wants the talks to fail, and make the best out of the situation, not proceed with talks until all the poison has been treated and cleared. That means until it is 100% clear that either Thaci is involved or not. Investigations immediately if there are new elements of evidence by Dick Marty. He mentions he talked with sources. He mentions informations from secret services. He mentions the organs were sold, so he must know the buyers(?). I don't know. all i know is if he has new evidence he must help justice. too many times politics has been placed before justice in our region, hope it does not happen this time.

"The dialogue is aimed at improving life in Kosovo and in southern Serbia,"

-- Interesting. I thing this is the first time I see souther Serbia being thrown in. Could all this noise be about a territory exchange. North with Presheva valley?

"Kacin added that it was surprising that the report of a former prosecutor should be made without concrete proof and that he could not believe a report was true without any reservations because of the person who signed it. "

-- Yes indeed. It is very surprising that a former prosecutor makes a report without any proof and evidence. Marty for the sake of justice if you have any evidence as you claim you do; release it already. Wikileaks, UNSC, EULEX. You choose, just release it already so something about this can start.

Zoran you have nailed the issue from a Serbian perspective.

There may be no better time to make a deal on Kosovo than now. Certainly there will be no Kos Albanian leader that Serbia will be able to have leverage over and surely its a matter of time before Kos Albs realise this and ditch him.

On the other hand of course its unprincipled and of course if the allegations are true immoral and insensitive to the victims and their families to seek a deal with a man who could bear responsiblity for those crimes.

Its more vital than ever to play your hand well in this situation...

I have to say if I was an Albanian I'd want Thaci out straight away. There is a serious danger that he will trade Kosovo for these allegations to be put aside.

Still, maybe even from an Albanian perspective its the best way to finally be rid of the Serbian yoke as they see it. Blame Thaci for the loss of the north, but thank him for normalisation of the country and acceptence into all international institutions. At the same time no doubt there will be some concession that Serbia rescinds its claim over southern Kosovo and normalises relations etc.

Time will tell.

"The US destroyed Serbia because the poor Albanian terrorists were being victimized by the monster Milosevic. Sure!!!!! Just who were the monsters. Was it Serbia or was it the West aligned behind the KLA?"
(Chuck in the USA, 21 December 2010 16:00)
Simply find out the numbers of victims on both sides. And then find out on which side there have been the victims first. Then come back. Btw, about monsters: There's a nice article named "War crimes trial for paramilitaries" to be found on this website, dated Dec. 20th.

"Should take a stance on the report." Surely, this EU lackey jests! Serbs were murdered, there organs cut out, for Heaven's sake! NATO, the EU, and, likely, the UN were complicit in these atrocities, all in the name of subservience to their American masters. The US destroyed Serbia because the poor Albanian terrorists were being victimized by the monster Milosevic. Sure!!!!! Just who were the monsters. Was it Serbia or was it the West aligned behind the KLA? The answer becomes more obvious each day. And they want the talks between the butchers and their victims to continue. What a farce!!!!!

I'm in two minds about this. Firstly I think it's quite sickening for anyone to negotiate with someone accused of such heinous crimes.

Then again, Thaci is now a liability to "Kosova" and his negotiating position has been significantly reduced, meaning Serbia can come out of this with more than expected.

"This report doens´t accuse Kosovo. It only accuses Thaci and (parts?) of the UCK. "

Exactly! Only King Thaci ("I am the state") thinks that some "anti-independence network" is operating. If he would work in the interest of his country (and not his personal pockets), he would stay away from any political job until he's proven innocent (without doubts, and not because of missing witnesses)

This report doens´t accuse Kosovo. It only accuses Thaci and (parts?) of the UCK.

Therefore it can´t be an obstacle for the dialog, but its a good opportunity to examine the past, inaugerate other politicans and stakeholders and prosecute these criminals
