Albania rejects Marty's report

Albanian authorities denied allegations of the country's involvement in organ trafficking presented in a report by CoE's Dick Marty.

Thaci is already a wanted man in Serbia. There is a pending warrant out for his arrest for 10 years now. This indictment would only be adding to the large list of Thaci's criminal activity. Bottom line is that Thaci is supported by the USA and that is a tough obstacle for Serbia to overcome.
(Another Canadian Serb, 20 December 2010 21:40)

If it is ONLY adding an item to the list then why not just do that. How about adding it to that list? If its really not a big deal to add it to that list; then why not just do that and add it.

Johny, asking why Carla would not talk about this sooner when she knew what was going on is very simple to answer.
She was the chief prosecutor then and political pressure was too great. Perhaps she wanted to keep her jobs, simple as that.

Ok I will give you a few reasons why on this other side of the isle we're very skeptic.

1). The timing is very interesting. Immediately after Thaci wins elections. The report could have easily been published 2-3 weeks before or even before new elections were called. Coming out with this report now, Serbian and Russian spheres, through Mati aim to:

a) Discredit Kosova and the West hoping to weaken their case.

b) Have someone who can be easily blackmailed head the Albanian delegation when talks start; therefore getting way many more concessions and way easier.

If the report was published before; odds are that Thaci wouldn't have won and would not have been the next PM. Meaning there would be nobody heading the Kosova delegation that could be easily blackmailed; and also a delegation where there are no allegations against them is a stronger delegation.
Timing is of crucial importance.

2). The lack of proactive actions and total passivity of the Serb state. The gravity of the allegations requires proactive and urgent steps taken at the highest global instances; namely the UNSC. The refusal to take such actions, clearly shows that Serbia does not favor an investigation with a clear UN mandate that covers international borders and international governing bodies. Yet is had no problem raising her voice at the UNSC over a telephone line. This is a very suspicious attitude and activity. It clearly shows that Belgrade is very interested that Thaci remains in power. Much more than actually seeking an investigation that would reveal the truth and destroy Thaci's political career, whether in the end he is found guilty or not.

3). The refusal of the state of Serbia to officially indict Thaci. The pretext being given is that it is out of Serbia's jurisdiction. This however has not stopped Serbia from indicting Agim Ceku even as prime minister. Both of these men live in Kosova. Then one can only wonder how Ceku is within Serbia's jurisdiction while Thaci isn't? This is a very suspicious attitude. Again this clearly shows that Serbia is very interested in Thaci remaining Kosova's PM. Not only that but it seems they're more interested in Thaci remaining in power than taking proactive steps towards indicting him. His indictment in Serbia would mean Serbia could no longer be allowed to count on Thaci. Seems like Serbia sees it as more valuable to continue to count on Thaci rather than indict him on proof that Serbia claims are solid. This is very odd and suspicious.

4). The story itself keeps on changing. First we hear the Serb prosecutor claim the yellow house is in front of a cement factory. That is how he claimed he identified the yellow house. The closest cement factory is 100 km away and on the other side of Albania. Now the story seems to have changed. Dick now claims those things didn't occur there but on another side of Albania. In an apartment in the center of a city apparently 500 people where shot and nobody heard a thing. Nobody saw a thing. No bodies being taken out. Nothing. This again is very hard to believe.

4a). Marty's hesitance in revealing the evidence. Its been many days since the report was published and he still hasn't come forward with any evidence. He still hasn't presented the evidence to any international organization. This is weird.

5). Carla Del Ponte's behavior is very suspicious. It seems as a desperate act in her trying to cover herself. How a chief prosecutor with jurisdiction to cover War Crimes all over Yugoslavia can remain silent and do nothing for over decade is beyond me? Not only that but she claims she has all this proof. Yet she took no action. Things turn into a worse direction when you have UN prosecutors accusing her of ordering the destruction of DNA samples. This is very weird. How and why would she claim she has solid proof yet be accused of destroying evidence? This is beyond weird. Why would she claim such things happened while she destroyed evidence on the case and refused to investigate it for more than a decade? This thing is very odd.

6). The Serbian public instead of showing dynamism and requesting proactive action from their government remains silent. Instead it cherishes news titles, as if that going to bring the accused in front of the justice system. Not only that but the whole Serb political spectrum has not proposed one single course of action. Instead they complain to journalists; as if that is going to reveal the truth. Such behavior is strange. Its as if the Serb public and political spectrum is against a thorough international investigation. Seems as news title's are preferred by the Serb public and political spectrum and take precedence over an investigation that would reveal the truth.

These are some of the reasons why we're skeptic. Having said that, the vast majority of us while being skeptic also want a thorough international investigation; hopefully mandated by the UNSC. If possible a special mandate from the UN to form a tribunal team specifically for this case. I still have to find one Serb joining me in this call; knowing very well that such a call will never come from the state of Serbia.

''Why would anyone make up a story like this? ''

There are thousands of reasons...especially political reasons...

Martin declared himself that his report is suposed to arise political conscouness, that is why he went to CoE and not Hague, which makes me think that the aim of the report is primarly to cast an opinion, or at least a impression to the general european public, in order to support serbian stance in the Kosovo issue...if sth as mostrous as organ trafficing ever happened, it is every single gov duty in Europe to find the truth and to start investigations imediately, commonsense tells us that organ traffic involves more countries then any other kinds of org crime, our former prosecutor declared that Albania fully collaborated with UN and Hague even before the Del Ponte claims to find out if anything ever happened concerning the war crimes, which means that investigators from 190 countries have been in Albania before Martin, actually we don't even know wether Martin ever been to Albania... if Martin has the facts as he claims, then he must contact Hague, Albanian prosecution, Eulex prosecution and Serbian prosecution and all other countries who might be involved as soon as possible...but it has been almost one week and all we hear from Martin is ''I have the facts but i do not need to show them because everyone already knows that the organ trade happened''...i actaully had a good laugh when hearing that ''in order to hide the truth, the yellow house had been colored in white''...i wonder what if, another house, formely white, is painted in yellow...yeah, it would be another act to distort evidence...

Tirana couldn't care less about fake reports at this moment. We have far greater polical problems and Martin actually helped us realise that we need to be united, rarely PS and PD deputies unite on anything here in Albania. I hope there is more diplomatic offensives against Albanians coming up, so our political parties hurry to solve their political issues and stand united toward our goals...Beograd fabrications can not impede EU for us, EU knows that all the fuss is to forget about Mladic...but the clashes between PS and PD are indeed serious. If we manage to solve the election crisis, the reforms in prosecution, and judical court reforms, the ownership laws etc... then we will alredy be in EU. Martin report means nothing, even Kacin , who is repsonsible for western balkans, implied that the report fails to meet the facts...

Did anyone really believe that Albania would have embraced the truth. I am getting tired reading about muslims disturbing peace all over the world.

The real issue in this story is that the US and their cronies have demoralized Serbia and created their own historical version of events to cover up the truth of why Serbia was bombed and ransacked in the first place.

It has now been a week since the release of the COE reports and still no mention of organ harvesting in North American.

Why did the USA, Germany and the Hague destroy all of the physical evidence on organ harvesting?

Why would the Hague destoy evidence while still open for business in apprehending so called Serbian war crimes suspects?

Albania needs to be punished for it's roll in Kosovo. I would recommend some

I still have to find one Serb joining me in this call; knowing very well that such a call will never come from the state of Serbia.

Why would anyone make up a story like this? Why can't albanains just accept that there are albanians who comitted these crimes and deal with it?

"The refusal of the state of Serbia to officially indict Thaci."

Because their mirrors are distorted.

Johny, asking why Carla would not talk about this sooner when she knew what was going on is very simple to answer.
She was the chief prosecutor then and political pressure was too great. Perhaps she wanted to keep her jobs, simple as that.

If that's the only reason you doubt it then you really aren't thinking.

Power can be supplied for as long as needed or you can produce your own power. Have you ever heard of generators?

If it is ONLY adding an item to the list then why not just do that. How about adding it to that list? If its really not a big deal to add it to that list; then why not just do that and add it.
