DS gets new leadership

We had several comments on Tadic's behaviour and ignorance towards Vuk Jeremic. Here is nothing to add. I recommend to leave this VIP club with members who are masters in selling off Serbia. Minister Jeremic is far more advanced and educated, a person with character and principles.

Dragoljub Mićunović got 2,485 votes and was elected president of the DS Political Council. Both he and Tadić were the only candidates for the two positions.

Wow, what's the point of voting then? It looks like the DS are just topping up with bigger sell-outs than the previous lot.

Jeremic and his "nationalism" have only been strengthened by the Kosovo "organ-selling" scandal, the collapse of the "eurozone", the Wikileaks revelations, etc. Tadic's groveling before Serbia's enemies just tightens the noose around his pathetic neck. Who will save him? Richard Holbrooke?

It seems Jeremic's nationalist rhetoric doesn't play well with Serbian democrats. Like Kostunica he is turning into yesterday's man.

Jeremic is toast. His failure goes to show that nationalist poses have no place in the DS. He'll leave the party shortly and end up with DSS/NS

Patriot:
Person who loves their country/ethnic/national group. Contributes to the social good and accepts they have a responsiblity to that society and a greater order .They have the moral ability to take responsibility for their actions. They are the source of their own success and failure.
See Presidents Josipovic , Tadic , Obama. Other greats like Ghandi , Martin Luther King Jr etc.

Nationalist:
They love their country/ethnic group/ nation- and they view those that dont as percieved enemies. They contribute to the social order in that fear and violence will usually be the means in which these ends are met.
They never take resposibility for their failures. Their respective rants are always in the context of being the "victim" of other outside "evil" forces. They demonise the non Serbs/Croats/ Albanian (or insert any group here) to the point that actions such as massacres are actually justified within the context of "defending their 'brothers and sisters'"Please see Messers Seselj , Milosevic , Jeremic , Maldic , Croatias Ante Pavelic ,Bin Laden , Hitler etc.



A patriot will condemn evil done in its name.
A nationailst will defend it.

A patriot is an optimist and sees hope for change.
A nationailst sees conspiracies and is pessemistic about anything that doesnt allow it to dominate and rule.

A patriot has moral courage .
A nationailst is an ammoral coward .

And the Serbs continue to be fooled. Nobody is going anywhere. Tadic and Jeremic are playing their hand perfectly. One is a good cop in the eyes of the EU but a bad cop in the eyes of the Serb. The other is a bad cop in the eyes of the EU but good cop in the eyes of the Serb. The average Serb gets fooled by this game and they continue to be in power together and in perpetuity. This is why they'll always win. There's no other party in Serbia right now that offers this perverse but greatly working duality. They're either pro or anti West. Tadic and Jeremic's party is a chameleon. They believe they can be both pro-west and anti-west at the same time. It works quite well with the Serbian people. I'm not sure it works that good with the EU.

I'm kind of amused by the comments of people that have been accusing DS of treachery for many years to suddenly find that have a hero in the DS' own Vuk Jeremic.

Jeremic is / was a political disciple of Tadic and the son of a communist high class family we were told almost day in day out.

And yet now he is the saviour of Serbia? What on earth is going on?

Look, its obvious that Jeremic has more support from outside DS than inside. However, the idea that Kostunica for example could be persuaded to move aside for Jeremic is laughable. And as if Kostunica's cosy advisors would tell him to do so, only for many of them to be sacked by Jeremic...

Don't get me wrong if Jeremic did take over DSS that would be the best thing that ever happened to that party. And it would screw up DS plans for electoral domination / shared rule with SNS for the next decade.

But Kostunica is such a vain man so Vuk's options are limited.

But time is running out, if there is a real conflict. If so, Vuk will be kicked out straight after the elections and if that would happen Vuk would leave a little before the elections...

Truthiness, this was going quite well until you bracketed Vuk Jeremic with Ante Pavelic and Hitler. Come on, you're having a laugh, aren't you? Also, bin Laden is the complete antithesis of a nationalist (or patriot, for that matter). He believes in the Caliphate, therefore must be described as an internationalist theocrat.
