yes indeed, it´s a rather small territory, easy to take over again, when the time has come.

just a question of time, and ...it will be peaceful then, without any military action.
it´s just a question of time, until those socalled "friends" let them down...

it´s interesting, that even this "hero", who is actually nothing else than a simple criminal, feels the need to manipulate in those socalled "elections"...

very confident, this "hero"... =)

Well, it's fairly known that the both the US and the German secret service (amongst others) composed files about Thaci and his connections to mafia activities and numerous crimes (drugs, money laundery, human trafficking...) many years ago. And yet neither UNMIK nor EULEX didn't do anything since they were in power in Kosovo. So, why else but for the sake of stability? They feared new chaos and new violence in Kosovo.

Above the law? Who? No wayyy!!!!

This is what Serbs and other Former-Yugos have been saying for the past 15 years at least!! ... Everyone finds out a little late of what the true circumstances are, just like what happened in Bosnia-Hezergovina.

This would not be the first time in history that the desire for peace by the international community outweighed the demands of justice. Just consider how the ICTY guaranteed Serbia confidentiality for documents that could have proved Serbia guilty of genocide in Bosnia, under an agreement arranged by Carla del Ponte. The court imposed a fine of 7000 euros on the author of the book detailing the charges (Florence Hartmann, "Peace and Punishment") for revealing information that was generally known http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8254318.stm.

I would include Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric too in that Nobel peace prize with the same motivation. Did anyone see this:

It looks like not only the US knew and did nothing, but also now Serbia "knows and does nothing". That reason he gives, out of reach, is crap. Agim Ceku was out of reach too. Other criminals are out of reach, you indict them and ask Interpol. That is not the reason. The reason is they are even going to have talks with them, killers of Serbs. Disgusting, truly disgusting. Like highduke said, they expect now Serbia to hand over Mladic? Never..keep him...he is good for you :).

"...highest Pristina officials above the law, thanks to the US."

And the highest Serbian officials were above the law, thanks to Serbs.

This is war. Criminality abounds on every side. War itself is criminal. Look who built up Sadaam Hussein in the 1970s and 1980s, only to topple him in 2003? And of course, the Americans are the only ones who do this sort of thing, right? Not like the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan never happened, or that Europeans never colonized the whole of Africa, the Americas or half the Far East.

And for this guy to tell the BBC that the public believed the Albanian leadership to be innocent is rather presumptuous. I vividly remember widely-reported allegations from that time -- in American media -- of Albanian crimes against Serbs, Roma and even uncooperative Albanians. Only a fool would have believed that the Albanian politicians and military leaders were squeaky clean.

The problem I see in all of this is that some Serbs are now behaving as though all their own culpability should immediately be erased as a result of this investigation. As though, suddenly, they're angels and Albanians demons. Not a single innocent Albanian would have been murdered by a Serb.

Steve JP

The USA had no business at all "sweeping under the carpet" such allegations of illict organ trafficking in Kosovo and Albania. The fair thing to do was to do an investigation. Now this is my message for the USA: Forget about Kosovo recognition. Kosovo is KLA headquarters thanks to you, USA. We do not award those who do illict organ harvesting with a state(nation) of their own.

Conspiracy is conspiracy no matter how you try to rationalize it. The usa could have replaced the criminal kalbo leaders many years ago but chose not to. Serbia has the upper hand now and should use it - at least Vuk will use it.

Some people seem to have problem with reading a simple sentence: "According to the BBC, Mason said that the U.S. did not consciously support the crimes in Kosovo and did not wish to see it remain a 'banditocracy,' but it was what their policy in Kosovo led to, by trying to establish stability without changing the situation in the field."

So: No conscious support, no "joint criminal enterprise", but simply just not investigating for the sake of "stability" and "peace".

Raki

Mr Mason knows what he's talking about, because he worked for quite a while in Kosovo, as a political adviser and speech/op-ed writer for several Special Repreresentatives of the UN SG in the province.

However, he was not quite vocal back then, but it is good to see that he has regained his voice.

And it only took them 10 years to find this information?
I seriously doubt that there would be any evidence or witness left alive to support these unimaginable crimes!

Aloys

All this has been known for a long time. I just wonder why the change of heart? Why are the horrors of the kosovo albanians and their supporters coming out now? No one will any longer be able to deny the serbs in Kosovo their right to self determination.

Zoran

Come on now, who isn't aware that the US/UK/Germany and others were involved in a joint criminal enterprise with the thugs in Pristina?

Clinton, Thaci, Albright, Bliar, Clark, Walker and the rest. I truly hope the atmosphere is coming where we see all of these people on trial. I've been saying for a while that the tide is turning but it looks like it has finally turned. Anyone going against it will need force and that is in short supply now. Wikileaks and this revelation should start changing the region and world in a good way. We as people should start to get along with each other once the dividers are out and those that unite are in.

Kosovo is no that small. The problem is the mafia-like clan structure, where clan loyality counts more than anything, and where the "law of silence" is above any other law.
