Ilir my comment was made in jest since the Serbs insist that I have a Moslem identity.

As a matter of fact I'm an atheist, a product of Communist Albania, and as such have an aversion towards religion in general. Most of my friends and cricle, of Bektashi background, think the same way.

Zoti,

I respect all religions, after all relgion is the culture of elevated being: human beings, amen is also used in all religions of the books, but i don't think Allha or Jesus will help us on this, Zoti [God] gave human beings a outsanding body, and an oustanding mind, and gave us will...still allah is arab god, jesus is jewish god, let the semites fight for their gods, we are ALbanians, above all, we have our own history, our own language and our own songs and myths that bond us, no one will ever be willing to rescue Albania other than Albanians, God placed us on these cliffs for a reason (wether we are crisitans, muslims or even for atheists, let say evolution placed us on these cliffs), once we give up these cliffs, we gave up God's will as well...

KU Its my understanding that Marty was mandated to conduct an investigation. He did so and the report will be published. I may be wrong, but I don't believe that it was his brief to provide evidence.

It may be that he will forward some evidence to relevant institutions we will have to see. But the irony in all of this is that most people who are calling for evidence obviously didn't read the report. One of the main points the report makes is that witnesses are unwilling to testify and what people are willing to admit behind closed doors on condition of it going no further and what they are willing to admit in public are 2 different things.

I'm been around, I have K Albanian friends. I don't remain in some stone castle in Belgrade.

Amer what you call 'accusations' is actually a report commissioned by the EU with Marty as the Head of its investigative team. They didn't ask him for proof, they asked him to consider the evidence and publish a report.

Now, if you dispute the findings of the report, that is fine, but if you have read it I don't see how you can see it as 'accusations'. It is a lot more than that.

And as far as the report is concerend we shall see what the Council of Europe says tomorrow. If it is adopted then it will be debated in the European Parliament in January.

On Thursday we will see what he has. Recall that this was leaked early by the Guardian. Instead of strongly proclaiming Thacis innocence, wait for the meeting TOMORROW. What part of Thursday don't you understand? We will see Thursday what Marty has to offer. I will say, though, that he must have something to be bringing this forward. I think Thaci's reputation is done. Tadic is playing nice with him but even if any of this is true, Thaci is done. You ALbanians will have to find a better, more honest leader.

"Do you think the secret prisons that he uncovered was a made up fairly tale? No, in fact he nailed the most powerful country right in the heart with that.

(John, 15 December 2010 20:43) "

The existence of the prisons was revealed by a Washington Post reporter - she did not directly name the countries where the prisons were located, but the story gave some pretty broad hints.

I was living in Prague at the time, thoroughly disgusted with the behavior of the US administration and the apparent helplessness of the press to do any thing about it, when this story (by Dana Priest, who got a Pulitzer for it) appeared. A lot of people were proud of the country for the first time in a long time when WaPo came out with the information. (Others thought it was akin to treason, of course.)

-- Considering the report says "What is particularly confounding is that all of the international community in Kosovo – from the Governments of the United States and other allied Western powers, to the EU-backed justice authorities – undoubtedly possess the same, overwhelming documentation of the full extent of the Drenica Group’s crimes, but none seems prepared to react in the face of such a situation and to hold the perpetrators to account."

I'm not so much troubled by evidence of the KLA that many of us suspected as I am that rumors of the apparent involvement, or at the very least knowledge, of many Western countries in either supporting these acts or working as hard as possible to cover up the evidence. No wonder my country has been pushing for Kosovo's credibility with almost careless abandon.

Interesting interpretation. Let's make another one. If Marty had the evidence, wouldn't he have given it to them before all this started? Prepared them? Because this call means that they have not seen any evidence yet. The call for evidence is public, not the evidence itself. Evidence, even if not public for reasons of witness protection etc, must be produced by Marty. These are very serious allegations that must be proven beyond any doubt.

EU and just about everyone has been waiting for evidence for the last 2 years. Not only that but many of us have urged the state of Serbia for the last 2 years to request from the UN an international investigation led by professionals, instead of asking for phone lines. That has never happened and Serbia refuses to ask for it.

This is a bad calculation. With stories such as this Serbia aims to weaken the position of the West and Kosova side in the upcoming talks. This calculation is not well thought as it may simply result in these talks not being held. Especially since there has been no proof behind the rumors.

This the EU's way of playing for time and not comitting itself to anything. At the same time it implies that the EU position is a slightly different one from that of the head of its investigative team.

That is a small way to calm the political turbulance going on in Pristina at the moment.

In the meantime I expect the EU high command will be contacting member states for instructions on how to deal with this. And on how to deal with the fall out when Marty gives a press conference tomorrow...

At the same time it implies that the EU position is a slightly different one from that of the head of its investigative team.

It implies they don't trust his conclusions, and want to demonstrate this in light of all the excited attempts to treat accusations as proof.

This puts the EU in a very difficult position. Its no surprise that they are calling for evidence to be given to them publically.

However, think about it.. Its a charade. Why? Because if they wanted evidence they would not make a public annoucment, they would ask Marty using internal channels, like any organisation would.

In some western capitals they will be cursing the fact that this investigation was allowed to happen.

right on the spot bganon, it reminds me the hidden prisons affairs, how they tried to put it under the carpet, putting him sticks during his investigation. He took him 5 years to finish his job with the result we know today... They most probably forgot how stubborn he is....

Fabrications - Please, you talk about fabrications - where are your 100,000 dead Albanians buried in the Pristina soccer fields. You do know something about FABRICATIONS!!

FABRICATION FABRICATION && more FABRICATION.

I recall belgrade saying they had 100+ people missing and about half a dozen of other nationalities...then those countries came out saying that none of their citizens was missing.

Come on liar, bring on your phony evidence. When you fall through I can't wait for you to be tried for defamation.

Agim, it's good to hear that you are wishing Dick Marti good luck in presenting his case and showing the evidence he has collected. I am sure that all Albanians would like their leaders to be honest and clean, and not someone who could actually take vital organs from kidnapped ordinary citizens. The thought of someone being able to do that is beyond human comprehension. Again, good to see you supporting Marti, which ever way it goes.

"In some western capitals they will be cursing the fact that this investigation was allowed to happen." (bganon)

I never said 100k, I don't remember anyone saying that many had died from the war. Around 10,000 Kosovars were killed and another 2-3k are missing

- What's wrong with asking publicly for evidence? All Marty has to do is present his evidence. Let's see what evidence comes forth!

Ilir my comment was made in jest since the Serbs insist that I have a Moslem identity.

As a matter of fact I'm an atheist, a product of Communist Albania, and as such have an aversion towards religion in general. Most of my friends and cricle, of Bektashi background, think the same way.
