He was right. It is a sin.
Serbs do have a brain and do think for themselves but by your logic we should all just abandon any organisation which represents us and our interests.
Why not do away with governments. We don't need them to represent us or to speak on our behalf or to advise us of anything because we all have a brain and can think for ourselves.

Why have you guys built so many mosques and keep building them? Do you not have a brain and don't need to get guidance?
Why do your Imams keep holding rallies and meddle in politics? Is it because they have many followers who listen to them or is it because they have nothing better to do?

You see my sarcastic "friend", as much as we can think for ourselves we also need someone else's perspective on it. Someone who will sift through all the rubbish and give us their honest, educated opinion. We don't all have the time or education to understand what is going on. So, we entrust others to help us understand.

You would love nothing better than our church to abandon us right now. Your insults on how we can't think for ourselves if we seek guidance or an opinion from the church is not going to do the trick.

At the end of the day, who cares what you think.

In English, “sin” means a transgression against the law of God. Please provide proof that God approved a law that Kosovo must not be independent :)

Well, the person who spoke those words was not elected by the people to whom he directed those words.

Why have you guys built so many mosques and keep building them? Do you not have a brain and don't need to get guidance?

I’ve not build any mosque !

I don’t have any imam !

if the Serbian orthodox church, wishes to continue to hide behind the guise and protection of Religion MUST learn to stay out of the politics.

Or its about time they be treated as, and held accountable for their words and action as any other Political Organization should be.

Under normal circumstances this statement would not be necessary. However,
the situation in Kosovo is far from normal.Kosovo Albanian society does not have respect for any human rights .
Practice terrorism against all who do not agree with them.Serbs living in Kosovo are under costant threat of violence and quite offten pays with their lives just because they are Serbs.
SPC in Kosovo likewise, is under constant threat of violence. It was not too long ago when Kosovo Albanian terrorist government in the presence of NATO and UNMIK attacked unarmed Serbian people, killed number of them, burnt their homes, attacked school bus and killed their children.Number of Serbian Churches were destroyed and graveyards desecrated. These are all undisputed facts it may not be on file in Brussels but its on file in UNSC.SPC statement is prudent and correct in advising their followers to what to expect if they vote in this phony elections .There is nothing political in the statement of SPC
It would have been act of negligence if they do not speak in defence of their existence and their followers.Let Brussels take a good look at itself. Is there any place in Europe where any Church or Monastery is surounded by barb wire? There is one in Kosovo, and that is the face of Brussels and EU.West show the exprtise in using of barb wire after all they build Auschwitz and Dachau.

The church has a duty to protect it's flock by advising them of what they think is good for them.

Why ? Is the flock incapacitated to think with its own mind what is good or bad for them ? I had the impression the Serb flock was not so ignorant….

Although I shudder at the thought of the SPC getting mixed up in real politik the statement they have release rings very true. If you read it carefully, their points of contention are valid and correct in their interpretation of the situation in KiM. Serbs should not participate in the elections, solidarity amongs Serbs inside and outside of KiM is needed but is currently lacking. Belgrade should get more involved in this situation as it is getting worse as time goes on, Tadic has to go... Jeremic for President.

People want their clergy to tell them what they think and why. They take guidance from them and guidance is the role of the church and the rest.

Pure Theocracies and secular Democracies & Dictatorship have all failed. The solution is a mix of the best aspects of all three. Serbs & Iranians are very similar: the Battles of Kosovo & Karbala, the martyrdom of Obilic & Ali, the decisive role of Orthodoxy & Shi'ism in preserving ethno-cultural identity and aggression by Albanian & Serb Muslim generals leading Ottoman armies. I guess I agree with SPC, SRS,DSS that it is not good for Serbs to go to vote. For what they done in Kosovo, most Serbs do not deserve to vote in Kosovo. Albanians will, slowly but surely educate, rehabilitate K-Serbs, a therapy that will last at least a decade or 2, before Serbs are capable of producing fine elections candidates.

However there is an exception, and that Radomir Dimic who is a good politician. Recently he pointed out that "Serbia should apologize and seek reconciliation with Kosovo"

Since most Serbs will vote I would sugest they vote 47 - Radomir Dimic (GRADJANSKA INICIJATIVA KRILO NARODA-GIKN)

(Ian, UK, 8 December 2010 14:00)

Religion is not trying to interfere in politics, this can’t be for Serbia, though. It is the Orthodox Church that does the state policy and controls overall politics in Serbia.

“The Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Holly Assembly of Bishops has stated that conditions for the Serbs to participate in the Kosovo elections have not been met.”
To this I can only laugh…it is so bizarre…

“The SPC Holly Assembly of Bishops has assessed that "the parliamentary system in Kosovo is encouraging Albanian predominance", at the expense of the rights of Serbs in the province”.
Another paragraph to laugh at. Parliament in Kosovo, out of 120 seats has 20 reserved for all minority communities, 10 only for Serbs. So, regardless if Serbs participate in elections or not, they can get 10 seats whenever they wish, and let alone when they are part of elections. How many reserved seats are there in the Serbian parliament for minorities?

if the Serbian orthodox church, wishes to continue to hide behind the guise and protection of Religion MUST learn to stay out of the politics.

Or its about time they be treated as, and held accountable for their words and action as any other Political Organization should be.

He was right. It is a sin.

In English, “sin” means a transgression against the law of God. Please provide proof that God approved a law that Kosovo must not be independent :)

Serbs do have a brain and do think for themselves but by your logic we should all just abandon any organisation which represents us and our interests.
Why not do away with governments. We don't need them to represent us or to speak on our behalf or to advise us of anything because we all have a brain and can think for ourselves.
(Peggy, 10 December 2010 09:43)

Well, the person who spoke those words was not elected by the people to whom he directed those words.

Why have you guys built so many mosques and keep building them? Do you not have a brain and don't need to get guidance?
(Peggy, 10 December 2010 09:43)

I’ve not build any mosque !

Why do your Imams keep holding rallies and meddle in politics? Is it because they have many followers who listen to them or is it because they have nothing better to do?
(Peggy, 10 December 2010 09:43)

I don’t have any imam !

You see my sarcastic "friend", as much as we can think for ourselves we also need someone else's perspective on it. Someone who will sift through all the rubbish and give us their honest, educated opinion. We don't all have the time or education to understand what is going on. So, we entrust others to help us understand.
(Peggy, 10 December 2010 09:43)

How do you know his opinion is honest and educated? What are his credentials and why is he more qualified than the “flock” ?!

You would love nothing better than our church to abandon us right now. Your insults on how we can't think for ourselves if we seek guidance or an opinion from the church is not going to do the trick.
(Peggy, 10 December 2010 09:43)

Who sought guidance ? I didn’t find that…

Of course; I didn’t pretend to make anybody care about what I think. Indeed, if you didn't care, you did not have to reply.

I am very honored to have done such a "sin". This really tells me that SPC deserved anything that happened to it
