For centuries Albanians were a tiny minority in Kosovo, it was untill the late 90's the birth-rate showed some sort of influence amongst themselves.

Why would the Serb governement pay for something that was never yours?

Did Serb government pay for something that was yours? I think it should as it manipulated with you for decades.

Because it's "destabilizing"? and in the south it isn't?

It's not Serbians promoting Kosovo as a multi-ethnic dream state, it's the US and they have pretty much nothing to show for it. In fact, the only parts where multi-ethnicity works is those controlled by Serbians (where we form a majority).

The north as you suggested has many ethnic Alanians living there but the agreement is that Serbians must be allowed to rebuild their home in the south of Mitrovica also if ethnic Albanians are to rebuild in the north. In case you are not aware, there are no Serbians left in Southern Mitrovica.

Only if you don't see setting houses and whole villages on fire as destruction, as normal people would do.

Entire Kosovo was build by Serbia.
Not a single albanian house was destroyed by Serbs. Thank NATO for the destruction of albanians homes.
And since when does Pristina have the money to give to anyone? Pristina and albanians receive money from the West. Without those donations albanians in Kosovo would be no more.

The Albanians are willing to rebuild their homes themselves in the north - why aren't they allowed to take their chances, force their presence on unwilling neighbors? Because it's "destabilizing"? and in the south it isn't?

delon,
thats specious reasoning if ever i've seen it. you would blame the victim and not the perpetrator? there was no body holding a gun to the heads of the k-albanians that chose to hurl rocks and fire shots towards the tents.
the perpetrators here were/are taking out their frustrations onto the returning victims. they are looking at the scapegoat and not the source of their difficulties. the promises that mobilized and unified the k albanians population have not materialized as expected and now the source of confusion is freely allowing if not suggesting to focus on the returnees and not the kosovar government for answers.
they should forget the past, as clinton told balkanics in the 90s, and embrace the future. blaming returning serbs for something a decade ago, and not blaming their own government for the dismal previous decade simply keeps the kosovar citizens in the dark with respect to theie own futures. it is time to stop finding blame elsewhere and to take responsibility for themselves. if they are not happy, frightening returning serbs, though possibly entertaining for some of the participants, is not likely to yeild and practical benefit. they need to address their concerns, issues and frustratiosn with their own government. they need to demand answers to questions such as: "where is all the internationally donated money?" "what has it been used towards?" "what is left of it?" "what are the plans for going forward, for creating a funtioning state and society, not just for us, but for all?"

You mean as a human shield against hostile Albanians who attacked them?

And no doubt released the perpetrators after concluding that there was no evidence against them? And this is the multiethnic paradise that K-Serb returnees are supposed to find on their return?
