but there is also some extremely sensitive stuff that can ONLY be seen at Executive Director level or above so if you have 30 000 managers in the intelligence services at ED level then no wonder the US is broke.

Nothing from Wikileaks seems to be highly sensitive stuff. Meaning you still don't know how to produce a stealth bomber. This high sensitive stuff has not been leaked. So far we've only seen opinions and meetings of US diplomats.

Thank you for your report from your position among the US government elite. But these are secret-level documents, at most, and access has been available (no longer will be, of course) to an estimated 30,000 workers. Maybe what's most surprising is that there have been so few leaks.

You’re welcome. Also happy to keep the Albos appraised of the current situation. Yes, there is material that low level officials would have access to, but there is also some extremely sensitive stuff that can ONLY be seen at Executive Director level or above so if you have 30 000 managers in the intelligence services at ED level then no wonder the US is broke.

"What is most worrying for the US government elite – not the government workers – is the fact that access to these cable/e-emails is restricted to only the very high level positions and that it’s not just one person that has passed these on to Wiki.

The official site is down but there are a lot of mirrors, like http://213.251.145.96/cablegate.html and http://cablegate.failar.nu/cablegate.html There are also searchable mirrors, for instance http://cablesearch.org/

If all sites is down you can still download the files to your own computer using the latest torrent from here http://www.privetbank.com.ua/cablegate/index.html (use the 7zip program to unpack it).

"…..should be setting off alarm bells about the rule of law in the United States”
In fact the reasons why these documents have become available to Wiki is simply because the people with access to this material are also concerned where their country is heading. What is most worrying for the US government elite – not the government workers – is the fact that access to these cable/e-emails is restricted to only the very high level positions and that it’s not just one person that has passed these on to Wiki.
I can with confidence predict that as the situation becomes more and more difficult in the US so will freedom and justice – this action of censoring free speech, the cornerstone of US Constitution, is the first to go followed quickly by human rights and rule of law. Once you start sliding down hill there is no stopping until you reach the bottom.
I offer my thanks to Julian Assange for trying to keep the bastards honest and hope you continue to do so.

We all knew that the ruling elites, who have been embarrassed and enraged in equal measure by the Wikileaks would certainly try to achieve damage limitation to any further leaks. This is why the corporate mafia that runs the US has been engaged in cyber attacks and pressure on commercial companies to ditch wikileaks.

Indeed. The US, land of the free, suppressing the truth, again. They'd rather feed their citizens with the X factor and American idol-the new opium of the people.
Just a bunch of cowardly bullies who are flailing around in their end of times. The worry is as they continue to sink, how much 'flailing' they will do.
