I find it interesting that the current Wikileaks revelations are causing such an anger amongst the political classes than its previous releases on Iraq and Afganistan.Information on civilian deaths, war crimes, military incompetence is not considered is too distressing for them.

Leonidas, it's easy. One is a personal insult, like "yo momma is a pig". As for killing hundred thousand people? These who caused it, did not know a single victim in person.

BTW: war crimes + military incompetence is the norm in both "East" and "West". The problem for the "West" is - now it not just lost it's morale "upper hand", it turns out that it really never had it. Now everyone turns out to be a villain, these are the leaders we (or our children) supposed to defend patriotically.

Now how they would act if one day they will be needed to lead a struggle for the physical survival of human race?

He and his servers should move to Serbia. The us government has been on its "back foot" for many years. They can form committees and intimidate Amazon all they like, but when they pay someone $30K/year to handle their secrets, this is what they get. Stupid people run america.

The US is also pursuing legal means to stop Julian Assange and his whistle-blowing site. In one development, Amazon.com has stopped hosting the website.

Their reaction to this and their witchhunt for Assange confirms their thinking-that their laws have somehow global validity and must be adhered and not questioned by anyone on the planet.

One would suspect that many of those calling for extreme measures to be used against Assange-Palin called on the US authorities to hunt down Assange as a terrorist-are the ones with most to hide.Funny how the American righwing seem to be the most vosiferous in their reaction.Or is it in anticipation of Wikileaks promised revelations on the Wall Street financial crisis and the subsequent bailouts. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the homeless, the unemployed and those on food coupons in US when they find out the identity of those who have stolen their present ant their children's future.
