after 400 years of this power being held by the west its finally now in Asia.
(sj, 1 December 2010 12:14)

You must be the only one to see this "NOW"....

Let's take for example Kosovo... what happened there was what West wanted and not what Asia wanted...

May China be a power in the future ? Sure it can.... Let's us know when that happens if we are still around by then :)

Your right I would never believe it on your word alone, and that is all you have. Nothing to back it up. As usual.
Even your heros the Russians reported the maneuvers lasted for the entire 4 days.
(pss, 3 December 2010 17:41
The Voice of Russia said that maneuvers lasted 4 days had been completed – that’s all! They actually took place in the Sea of Japan not the Yellow SEa.
Ask yourself why Hilary Clinton went to Australia in late November 2010??????

Actually the only mention made of the US backing down or “cancelled manoeuvres due to a technical problem” came from the overseas news services of Radio Australia, but I watched US cable news and there was no mention for several days after that announcement, but now it’s back to the old file footage of US aircraft landing and taking off an aircraft carrier – in fact the footage is so old that some of the planes are out of service in 2010.

Whether you like it or not, it has happened and the only way you are going to believe me is if Fox news came out and confirmed this fact – I would not hold my breath waiting for that announcement.

China has kicked the US out of the South China Sea as well as the Yellow Sea. Why do you think that the US was in Australia looking for friendly ports?

Oh, by the way when I used the term 400 years it means Europe as well not just the US.

(iliri, 2 December 2010 19:14)

China is not interested in Cuba, yet. But the Yellow sea is Yankee free like it or not. You are aware that the first naval exercises were CANCELLED due to Chinese demands?

Taiwan is no longer a “threat” because it now going through a period of reconciliation with China and the election of a deferent political party in power in Taipei is very much pro Beijing and trade will further strengthen that bond. Taiwan is in the South China Sea and it’s also Yankee free.

The Soviets did that thing in Cuba in the 1960s to force the US to remove missile systems in Turkey on the border with Russia and they succeeded – something that still today is little talked about in the US except for the great victory over the Soviets.

The US is no longer in any position to start another war – it does not have the resources – financial or human – to carry out a campaign. It’s dying on its feet in Iraq and Afghanistan and would collapse soon thereafter if another conflict was started.

Open your eyes and have to look at what is happening now. Russia is to host the 2020 world football cup – the US only got 1 vote; let me repeat just 1 vote. Do you think that would have happened in 1990?

''he Albanians are clinging to the US as their great savior, but after hearing what has happened to the US where it was forced by China to back down from holding naval exercises in the Yellow Sea, I would think they have backed the wrong horse. In December 2009, China surpassed Japan in the world economy stakes; December 2010 China has now begun to assume the mantle of “king of the mountain” from the US – after 400 years of this power being held by the west its finally now in Asia.
(sj, 1 December 2010 12:14) ''

Well, i know that USA patrols yellow sea, where to where exactly , idk, and i would be trully impressed if China actually forces USA to totally retreat from yellow sea... but USA has another satellite...Taiwan, which is very close to China as well...practically, USA has been a headache for China since its Popular Republic establishment, but USA does not care if China is disturbed or not, USA still is present there as far as i m concerned...now, go imagine China trying to patrol waters of Cuba...even Soviets who were far more powerful found it to be a bad idea...you don't want to mess with a country which has not seen a war in 150 years...you see, for a ountry not seeing war in 150 years is unprecendented case in history, because such a country, has developed supremacy during a longer period than other countries... Some crazy talibans managed to destroy two buildins, and the responce was the invasion of two countries...and preparation for the invasion of two others... it is like milosevic, who thought that US envoys were joking...but they were not.

ROFL- see the six no-brainers I listed out? You can say the same thing in diplomatic language ("what do we need to do on our side to improve the life of Kosovars") or in non-diplomatic language ("screw their government, there is nothing to talk about"). Of course, there is nothing to talk about - why would you shake hands with criminals? But Serbian government needs to implement quite a few things just to make the life of the people on both sides of the admin line easer. Regardless, are they Serbs or Albanians.

There is no need to rush with Kosovo. It can remain status quo and a partially recognized, disputed territory non UN/EU member for 100 years. Serbia needs to focus on strengthening institutions in the North and area's where Serbs live, as for the so called Government in Pristina there is absolutely nothing to talk to them about.

(Amer, 1 December 2010 17:31)

The problem is here that there are trivialities not even worth to negotiate - just do it.
Example:

1) 123-KS-456 license plates. Solution: set up a temporary license plate office near the line crossings. Set up a telecommunication. Every car crossing the line already being matched against the database of stolen cars, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Extra costs should be covered by plate fees.

OR: set up a representative office in Gracanica, where Albanians just simply can register the cars using numbers like PR 123-456. Fees should cover.

2) Pasport, licna carta things are already covered. Who can't get real one, could get a Serbian "Fremdenpass". The fee for that should cover the expenses.

3) Serbian insurance - if done properly, a 100% non-issue. Insurance companies should go out of business providing mandatory third-party insurance anyway. That insurance should be covered by gas prices. Logical: the more you travel, the more is the probability of you causing the accident - and you also pay more insurance because you have to buy gasoline.

OK, the electric or hybrid cars is an other issue, but don't think it's typical for Serbia, LOL.

Now of course we can't just kick out the insurance companies, so probably a short-term insurance available at the line crossings is a solution.

4) Customs, etc: easy thing, no customs between Kosovo and the rest of Serbia. Why, do you pay customs between New York and Connecticut? Sometimes being greedy makes things just worse.

5) Missing person, humanitarian things, returnees: no brainer.

6) Universities, workplace, workforce exchange: no brainer.

The Serb public seem to be a bunch of tools. There's nothing secret about it. Read the Serb constitution then read the Kosova constituion. Its out there for everyone to see. One side will say we are independent. The other will say no you're not. They will keep at it until the time comes for Serb elections. Tadic will win; and all will be over. Like it was over the other times. Everytime Tadic needs a boost, they act like they're talking. This is standard practice in negotiations. And it is the mature way to go about things.

If you go into negotiations making all kinds of promises / boasts then once a compromise has been made it tends to make you look very stupid. It can force you into a corner.

By the way on an issue as crucial as this one governments can fall depending on statements made before a negotiation like this one.

When the Kosovo Albanians get their team together they should also be aware of this.

Do not worry, no EU for Serbia when not accepting the independance of Kosova.

Serbia needs a new government because this one can not accept the reality on the ground as they have denied it and stressed out never to recognize it.

However ... a new and more moderate government in Belgrade will surely accept the new reality.

Hashim Thaci has been bought out and is convincing Albnians that Serbia will recognize the UDI despite the ICJ & UN fiascos this summer and Kurti is more popular than ever, so part of the platform is to allow Hash to convince as many other narco-politicians that KiM has no hope as an independent state in a new geopolitical reality where RUS is replacing the US and Serbia replacing Cro as global & regional superpowers

From recollection no government reveals its platform to the world or other side prior to any talks/negotiations of this nature. It’s just standard practice and you will find that Borislav Pelević is trying to make some political point scoring in parliament, that’s all.
For those that wait for recognition, I would suggest that you hold your breath. These negotiations will start with simple stuff first then later on down the track the harder questions and problems have to be tackled. This will go on for more than just a few months and could take over one year or longer to finalise.
The Albanians are clinging to the US as their great savior, but after hearing what has happened to the US where it was forced by China to back down from holding naval exercises in the Yellow Sea, I would think they have backed the wrong horse. In December 2009, China surpassed Japan in the world economy stakes; December 2010 China has now begun to assume the mantle of “king of the mountain” from the US – after 400 years of this power being held by the west its finally now in Asia.

Yes recognition is inevitable, but be aware not immediately, but it will take months until they prepare the nation for that.

When a Serb keeps a secret from the following Serbs, things are NOT good.

Check for the updates from Wikileaks as they may publish the secrets much before than government is prepared to release them.

No, but you do between New York and Canada.
(Amer, 1 December 2010 20:31)

Even there the customs affects mostly the passenger traffic, see NAFTA. Do they love in America to be involved in some country-building... and as we see, introduce border procedures and customs checkpoints where there weren't.

Remember all the whining around GDR and around divided countries? I agree, that customs and borders in general are evil. But let's be consistent than. Let's see... First, what comes in mind is Kosovo.

Maybe there is no platform at all! Imagine Serb team being asked about te talks and saying we don't have a platform yet...it would be to awkward..instead they say the platform is secret and use the time until Kosovan elections...to prepare a platform.

This is Serbia!
Screaming for dialogue and compromise, but with secret platform??!!
With those secret platforms and tactics,Serbia for sure will end up having only monologue and not dialogue.

Would be interesting if you could give one credible source for your information that US backed down on having the naval exercises in the Yellow Sea this week.
Remember dreams and wishes do not count.

"The voice of Russia" is about as western as you can get, right?
Also 400 years of power? The US is only 234 years old.

Your right I would never believe it on your word alone, and that is all you have. Nothing to back it up. As usual.
Even your heros the Russians reported the maneuvers lasted for the entire 4 days.

The Voice of Russia said that maneuvers lasted 4 days had been completed – that’s all! They actually took place in the Sea of Japan not the Yellow SEa.
Ask yourself why Hilary Clinton went to Australia in late November 2010??????

You must be the only one to see this "NOW"....

Let's take for example Kosovo... what happened there was what West wanted and not what Asia wanted...

May China be a power in the future ? Sure it can.... Let's us know when that happens if we are still around by then :)
