"Koso, I didn't hear that China recognized an independent Albanian Kosovo, congratulations. "

It's the "Republic of China" - a.k.a. Taiwan, a country with a similar status as Kosovo (PR of China sees them as their province), but a little bit more wealthy ;-)

Koso, I didn't hear that China recognized an independent Albanian Kosovo, congratulations. Now you are truly going to be a Balkan powerhouse to be reckoned with, and Serbia will no doubt have to come to Pristina for future loans.

By the Republic of China, he's referring to Taiwan, whose official name is the Republic of China and who recognises the Republic of Kosovo. The state more commonly known as China and has a seat on the UNSC is the People's Republic of China; they do not recognise Kosovo.

Ironic, since the situation between Serbia and Kosovo over the next twenty years will probably be identical to that between China and Taiwan.

winston,

as an English-person you should know geography a little better.

People's Republic of China (PRC) = China
Republic of China (ROC) = Taiwan

As far as Kosovo being a powerhouse comment ---- our economy is growing and is set to grow further.

72 UN members & Republic of China
These countries make up at least 3 of the 4 international dollars in comparison to world wealth & economic output.

^^^ In this 72 Serbia begs every month for loans to prop up the budget deficit.

"Everything is now being planned in Brussels and Washington, and Priština will play its part on time," underscored Thaci.

-- Yes it is, Hash. It's these two centers that have been dictating Kosovo's direction. At least he now recognizes Pristina is, at best, in the passenger seat. Therefore, with other powers seemingly "planning" the scope of Kosovo's direction, it seems rather premature to think that the "Serb-populated north of Kosovo will not be a topic of the talks." They will undoubtedly be the main focus of the talks, and whether these talks result in creating some sort of RS-status for the north which functions as the de facto and de jure administrative center for the K-Serbs, or an outright territorial adjustment which in the end would probably be the best solution for Pristina, it will be Washington and moreso Brussels that ultimately decide what's best. Since no one has openly called for partition, internal administrative division seems the most likely outcome.

"He went on to tell the paper that "the territory of Kosovo was internationally recognized"."

Ah, yes. It is! By exactly 72 out of 193 UN member states, to be exact (probably he forgot to mention that little fact)
