How nice, Comrade Viktor Orbán. Not even 6 month in power - but this regime is widely called "Viktatura" for a good reason.

Who does not understand. Viktor Orbán is a full-blown fascist dictator. He is not nazi (that title goes to "Jobbik"), "just" a fascist. This news came after punitive taxes for the rich companies were announced. And after the state decided to plunder private pension funds.

We will drink that "black soup" for sure, as Мехмед-паша Соколовић told to Bálint Török.

Lucky me, I have American passport. Unfortunately my home will be worth a dog house on the West Coast. Even independently of Orbánka we already lost Ft 10mio or more. Things won't be better, more foreign companies will
run away. Bankrupt country + plundered private pension funds + punitive taxes on large corporations + fascism = home prices in nose-dive.

Thank you Orbán - wish the next vacation of our foot will be in your butt. At least my conscience is clear: I did NOT vote for that fascist, so don't blame me.

Depressing news, Hedgehog. (To cheer you up - in Slovak your name would be Dikobraz.) If you come back, you'll find housing prices have fallen substantially, although I can't guarantee what you'll find on the West Coast. The nation-wide average is now below $200,000, though.

Thanks, Amer - the problem will be less the price (maybe around 200K now, used to be well over 300K) - but the fact, even for 200K no one will buy. People not buying anything: no homes, no cars, nothing. The after-tax salaries are less, than in Kosovo by the way (officially) - however most people are working on the gray and black market.

The prices in Portland or Corvallis areas are OK, but I wanted to skip the mortgage thing. The way it looks now - no chance.

I would wait though till my younger kids are in the university firmly, not sure where. The oldest one got lucky, instead of paying $30K/semester at Notre Dame he receives a small scholarship of ca. $250/month. Makes a difference: pay $30K/semester or get paid $250/month. That is in Hungary, by the way - so there are some bright spots here and there in the darkness.

BTW: Dikoobraz is also in Russian - but that's the porky. We don't have porcupines here, but on certain days hedgehogs occupy the garden. They can even eat a small mouse.
