Businessman confirms he owns newspaper

Serbian businessman Milan Beko told B92 on Sunday in an interview that he is the owner of Belgrade-based <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2010&mm=06&dd=23&nav_id=67986" class="text-link" target= "_blank">daily Večernje Novosti</a>.

I hope you realise that naming funders of any media organisation alone is not evidence of bias...

Of course but reading articles or a news source for long enough reveals bias. Bias is not something you mentioned when justifying B92's Insajder (program) article attacking the Serbian Orthodox Church.

It is fairly obvious to me that some people have an agenda to damage, hurt and possibly split the church at this point in time and mud gets thrown around.

Everyone who participates in these dirty games that doesn't attempt to restore peace and reconciliation has mud on their faces. The "us and them" approach doesn't bring good to anyone, it just keeps divisions in place.

Zoran when did I ever say the media in Serbia are not biased?

The only thing one can try to measure is which media is less or more biased than others.

I hope you realise that naming funders of any media organisation alone is not evidence of bias...

If you want capitalism to work, the capitalists must profit and be able to rest comfortably with their profits. These profits are bound to exceed even the most rabid appetites. The excess goes into investment, the good judgement of the capitalist advances the economy. If you threaten the profits of the capitalist too much, there is less investment in the economy. Leave the guy alone. Letting the government dip into his pockets outside of taxation is in invitation to corruption.

So ask him about Subotic, ask him about Karic. I'm not saying those men are not crooked, but when you have operators like Beko and Subotic you have to wonder how their rivals are either forced out of the country or accused of something whilst other favoured businessmen are doing great..

Yes bganon, so now you readily admit media bias. When I once tried to post links to sources of funding for B92 it never got published.

Media is a dirty game, right?

All greedy (and corrupt - allegedly) men like Beko have to do is to adopt corporate responsibility and donate regularly to get the authorities and the rest of the media off their backs.

This is the most basic thing that even half witted businessmen in the west realise, rather than whining and using his newspapers to manipulate the public.

And yes its good to know who the owner of Novosti is. I mean good of Beko to step out of the shadows, as its not a normal thing for it to be know who owns one of the most highly sold newspapers in the country is it?

So ask him about Subotic, ask him about Karic. I'm not saying those men are not crooked, but when you have operators like Beko and Subotic you have to wonder how their rivals are either forced out of the country or accused of something whilst other favoured businessmen are doing great..
