not one single politician of the govt. of the republic of Serbia represents ANYONE in kosovo..Serb or albanian.

there will never be any reconciliation with the republic of Serbia. so long as they continue to delude themselves into thinking they have inherited anything from milosovic.

reconciliation between kosovo Albanians and Kosovo Serbs are a different matter entirely.

If what you say is true about Kosovo's unemployment (which I agree unemployment is a huge problem here), then Kosovo becoming part of Serbia again would prevent Serbia from joining the EU for the foreseeable future. In fact, even the visa restrictions that were recently lifted for Serbia would have to be reinstated, since unemployed Kosovars could freely travel to anywhere in Europe, and many would not be returning.

The EU is taking moves that more clearly delineate Kosovo and Serbia as two different countries.

As for the idea that the EU is in so much trouble that they cannot afford to fix Kosovo's problems but that somehow Serbia has the answers may be the most ludicrous comment in the history of B92's forums. Sure, the EU has some financial problems, but Serbia has more problems than the EU, and the EU has hundreds of times more resources to work with.

To the (obviously few) Serbian posters on B92 who actually live in Serbia, please use your newfound freedom to get visas and travel a little, like to Western Europe or possibly the United States, look around, and enjoy a dose of reality.

"Kosovo has a large unemployment pool and the EU knows that promises have come to an end and people want tangible evidence of improvement. These negotiations are occurring because the EU has no choice and they see Serbia as providing some level of employment to ease the pressure on the EU."

I agree with the first sentence, but Serbia providing some employment in Kosovo? The joke of the day. The unemployment in Kosovo could be reduced
with investments. But which company would be so crazy to invest in a totally corrupt country where clan structures and bribing count more than laws? This problem has to be solved first, and this can only be achieved by an election outcome that brings honourable politicians into power. But will this ever happen, and are there any at all amongst the Thacis, Haradinajs, Kurtis?

Where were you 20 yrs ago? All of a sudden you see these Serbian politician act like born again negotiators, as if they didn't live in Serbia when Serbia was denying Albanians autonomy and basic rights under Milosevic.

Every K-Alb you ask, without exception has no desire to return under serbia. Serbia has left no good memories for them. K-Alb simply do not trust Serbia, and know very well that although Serbia speaks of peace and reconciliation now, it is simply setting up the situation for a future time when it will be possible to do what they did in 1999 all over again.

It matters little what happened 20 years ago, simply because the EU cannot fund Kosovo any longer as it has too many “financial basket cases” to deal with. Kosovo has a large unemployment pool and the EU knows that promises have come to an end and people want tangible evidence of improvement. These negotiations are occurring because the EU has no choice and they see Serbia as providing some level of employment to ease the pressure on the EU.
It’s not a matter of what the Albos want, but a matter of what is most practicle – the situation has changed since 1999. The US is in drastic decline while the EU is in a financial entanglement of its own making and there are new masters on the horizon.
How is Kosovo going to survive on its own? It can’t – it does not have the resources. This new process will take about 10 years before its finished.
There is no choice in this matter.
