Just look at the guy standing behind you in the picture, Erdogan. That is the reason your country will never get into the EU. Europe does not need anymore islamists, just ask Merkel what she thinks of multi-ethnic societies.

The simple fact is that Turkey is not European, and it does not share European culture. It has engaged in huge ethnic cleansings of Christians and other minorities in 1916, 1923, and in recently against the Kurds and especially Cyprus. The EU politicians who are urging us to radically alter the nature of Europe into a semi-Islamic state are placing US interests over and above the future of Europe.

Most "Turks" are in the fact of different (Iranian, Caucasian, Balkan, East Europe) origin. The few Ottomans can pack and go where they came from - outer Mongolia.
The fact, that the living standard and number of cultural monuments in outer Mongolia declined sharply after the Huns and Chinese were replaced by Turkic tribes is well-known. It speaks volumes.
As far as "European House" - here everyone did bring some bad and some good stones to build it. Only exception are the Ottomans. They may take their two most important contributions to European house:
#1 using enslaved nations to "produce" Janissary corps
#2 using impalement as capital punishment
with them and "sayonara". In the fact, there is some amazing progress in Mongolia now... no need to screw up things there. Maybe the invisible side of the Moon is better.
Everything else than #1 and #2 what Turkey is famous for and visited by tourists was "borrowed". The seafarers? Illyrians, Greeks. The cuisine? Arab, Jew, Caucasian, Chinese. The science? Persian. The military tactics? Persians, Huns, Mongolians, Chinese, Indians. Music? Armenian. What remains than?
Ah, yes... Janissary and impalement. Thanks - take them with you.

"Turkey tired of waiting at gates of Europe"
Then pack up and leave! Don't you realize by now that you are not (and never was) welcomed to this pseudo-Christian club?
