I wonder how Slovakia would welcome the Minister of Felvidek from the Motherland Hungary, or the Minister of Vajdasag in Serbia, or perhaps the Minister of Transylvania in Romania.

I presume, there would be no flowers and singind children at the border.

Just kidding, anyway, I hope so does Mr. Bogdanovic.

Does the "Ministry of Silly Walks" from Monty Python ring a bell?

"If this assistant starts opening the mouth like his boss, he will also be stopped at the border in the future." (miri)

-- I'm not impressed by this. What you and others fail to see is that the block was little more than a display of force to distract from a larger issue. The event

a) has already been underway. The plan on rebuilding houses and dedicating a kindergarten under the auspices of Belgrade has apparently been in the works, and whether the authorities in Pristina know about, care about, or can't do anything about, it is irrelevant. The building project is underway. Whether Bogdanovic or anyone "represents" that in a ceremony doesn't stop it from happening.

b) was attended by someone in the Kosovo Ministry. Stop Bogdanovic, they'll send someone else. Stop someone else, they'll send a third person. It seems they had someone in reserve just in case. Knowing Bogdanovic's tendency to be a drama queen, he complains at this breach in protocol, and what might have been an uneventful trip, turns into something that makes the news, and gives certain people irrational bragging rights, while others roll their eyes at another confusing action by Pristina.

At this point, stopping what basically amounted to the emcee from attending an already planned and ongoing event kind of puts into perspective Pristina's actual capabilities.

US and a few other countries are currently mislead in their prejudice in favour of Albanians and against Serbs.
(Bob, 10 November 2010 19:10)

Not really, in 1919 during the Peace Conference in Paris US president Wilson, vetoed a vote to actually award Serbia the norhtern part of today's Albania ( a centuries old dream of Serbia to get sea access). If US wasn't there this area would have been part of so called "territorial integrity" of Serbia today.

Kosovo did not have the same luck as it was rewarded to Serbia a little earlier, with the approval of some (but not all) European powers.

Even Tito and JCP made several attempts to give back Kosovo to Albanians, but he couldn't risk Serbian support for Yugoslavia, so they failed.

The Kosovo territory as part of Serbia, represents nothing else, but a land grab past success that was compiled through force, violence, injustices, and ambigous land expension due to circumstances of the period (Serbia was stronger and had stronger friends at that time.

That land grab never rested in peace, as Kosovo was always a problematic and disputed territory.

Serbia had a genuine interest in keeping it underdeveloped and behind in every aspect so it could rule it more easily, especially since a very small number of Serbs lived there.

The west is not delusional at all about Serbia. As we all saw in the 90s what Serbs are capable to do if they have a free hand.....

So Bogdanovic is refused, but his assistant goes instead. Therefore, the Serbian Ministry is still represented and all the Albanian authorities did was be an inconvenient obstruction once again. Good job kids.
(Mike, 10 November 2010 16:02)
There is a possibility that his assistant is either a resident in Kosovo and going to the ceremony, or did not disclose his position as crossing the border.
The significance is that the "official" was denied access by Kosovo authorities and since this has been happening for quite some time, it is evident the internationals support this position.

If this assistant starts opening the mouth like his boss, he will also be stopped at the border in the future. And as far as your K-Ministry is present in Kosova it will take more than a visit from an unknown official for that to happen.

PS: Please don't use the term "kid". Jovan already has beaten you to it.

This kind of exclusion is not surprising given the current protectorate status of Kosovo. This is an interim status caused by the mono-ethnic ambitions of the Albanians being inappropriately reacted to by Slobodan Milosevic and a number of other nationalists in the nineties.

I would expect this indeterminate status to persist for sometime. However, given that 1244 only awarded autonomy under the territorial integrity of Serbia, provocative acts like banning ministers from visiting could in the long run become the basis for a change in the nature of the autonomy that Pristina will be allowed to exercise.

This current status is an interim measure. The ethnic ambition of the Albanians to form a separate state is only partially implemented, and must not be allowed to succeed - even if the US and a few other countries are currently mislead in their prejudice in favour of Albanians and against Serbs.

While the civilized world is looking for solutions in KiM, the Pristina Albanians are playing desperate childish games of, "No, you can't come in, it's our country". They are the laughing stock of Europe. Just cut the international donations to the snake, and see how quick these games stop.

Exactly that's the way to go. Complain at EULEX, they will ask the "authorities" in Pristina about the abuse of the border control.

It's just a token victory if Belgrade is still sending an official. The narco-politicians' diplomacy failed this summer, their economy is in a permanent depression, most citizens didn't bother to vote for them and their state collapsed bc they're facing new talks they wouldn't be participating in if their state had any prospect of independence

Serbia should not have a ministry for Kosovo. That ministry is a direct threat to Kosova and its purpose is to undermine Kosova's sovereignty and existence so as such no one from that ministry should be allowed to enter Kosova. They are viewed by every Kosovan as an enemy. I am looking very much forward to the new government in Kosova where the Serbs in Kosova have the perfect chance to be a part of it and talk for themselves so no one will need the Phantom Ministry for Kosovo.
