"In Paris for a three-day state visit, the Chinese leader has signed deals ranging from 102 planes from Airbus to telecoms and nuclear energy investments."

Avoid the airbus! The Aussies just grounded their entire airbus fleet! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/singapore/8109377/Qantas-grounds-A380-fleet-after-mid-air-emergency.html

"China says it plans to double the value of its annual imports from France to 56 billion euros over the next five years.

Whether this will be enough to head off President Nicolas Sarkozy’s plan to discuss trade imbalances and currency reform during France’s upcoming presidency of the G20 remains to be seen."

The Chinese are playing nice. If the French are smart, they will not push their luck and get scorched by the Chinese fire-breathing dragon.

"Not everyone has welcomed the Chinese to Paris with open arms.

Activists claim Beijing’s record on human rights is being ignored in the rush to sign lucrative deals. "

They expect the French to campaign for human rights on empty stomachs? These activists sure are stuck in la la land. Besides, they should, if they are for real and to be taken seriously, focus on where human rights are really being trampled upon -- I'm talking Afghnistan where the people there don't even have the right to be safe from Yankee "friendly fire" aka "collateral damage"!
