Zagreb, Belgrade turn new page

An almost unanimous assessment of Serbian President Boris Tadić’s first visit to Vukovar is that it is a new page in history of Belgrade and Zagreb.

Kosovo USA..thanks for the early morings chuckle...you'd be the last person to convert to this enlightenment.

While Serbs have countless times offered reconcilliation and compromise on this website alone, the bitter and hateful reaction by yourself, PRN, Agim, Joe, and Roberto to name a few remains firmly embedded under the Skanderbeg Division's ideology.

Remember that EVERY nationality has nationalists, good people, bad people, corrupt people, misfortunate people, victims, aggressors, Mafiosi, criminals and humble people; you treat someone for what they do and how they act, not for their ethnicity, people.

I'm genuinely not surprised that this has been received well. People should always remember back to the relatively peaceful times of pre-1990 Yugoslavia, were Croats, Serbs, Bosniaks, Albanians, Slovenians and others worked hand in hand for the number one greater-good; themselves. It didn't matter whether someone else was Croatian or Serbian; if they were a good person, they're a good person.

Even twenty years later, with the political set-up in the Balkans being far different, people shouldn't have any animosity at another nationality simply because they're from that nationality, and simply because of what corrupt, nationalist governments of the time did in relation to ethnic cleansing and warfare. As Nelson Mandela said (I'm paraphrasing, so sorry if this isn't word for word): "You can't move forward unless you forgive the past." Serbia and Croatia should have the strongest economic relations in the Balkans, not the other way around.

Even as a Serb, I genuinely hope that this will eventually happen with Kosovo. For the greater good of both Serbs and Albanians, reconciliation between the two nationalities will be the best thing in letting both peoples progress forward in harmony. People shouldn't look at the issue of Kosovo as being political and historical, in fact, people should stop being political in MOST things in the Balkans; remember the times where it didn't matter whether someone's name was Ante, Jovan or Agim? Only then will the Balkans actually be able to move forward for the greater good of EVERYONE.

Remember that EVERY nationality has nationalists, good people, bad people, corrupt people, misfortunate people, victims, aggressors, Mafiosi, criminals and humble people; you treat someone for what they do and how they act, not for their ethnicity, people.
