He is right 100%. I have always think the same. What we have to assert is simple: we all suffered. And it is very ackward to point one people more than the other. I try very much not to, believe me.

"If one counts all the victims (killed by) the Bosnian army during the four years of war, the number will be far lower than the number of people murdered in Srebrenica in just one hour,"

Bakir can't even apologize without making it political. But he's Izetbegovic's son, so nothing new here.

That's more like it. Enough to distinguish himself from Silhadzic, not enough to betray the people who voted for him. If he stays this course and the Bosniaks actually make an effort to find a proper solution, then it'll be harder for Dodik to jutsify secession.

It's good to see the Muslims finally have a pragmatic leader rather than one who wants to abolish Republika Srpska purely out of spite.

Bakir resembles Tihic, rather than his babo Alija. Ironically, he campained on a nationalist platform and even accused that failure Haris of being weak on Muslim interests. Since Bakir is wise enough to know that the breakup of SFRJ could've been avoided, he may even know that his babo Alija instigated it and that uniting BiH & Serbia is the best way to keep a new Herceg-Bosna + RS from seperating and splitting Muslims in 2 seperate unconnected mini-enclaves. Bakir, redeem OUR people CCCC

Roberto,
Aggressor state being the nation of "Bosniaks" trying to exert their sphere of influence onto the majority Christian population and to moderate Muslims in western regions who all rejected Sarajevo's regime and greater territorial ambitions in the guise of a unified state. I could imagine how well an apology would go down from Beograd along the lines we regret Srebrenica but it is a mere drop in the ocean compared to what Croats and Muslims did to the Serbs.
Bakir seems to be very selective with facts and in which context he quotes them (perhaps not to ruffle interest groups), for instance the pensions he quotes are true but unsustainable, the federation in the Muslim belt lags behind the privatisation, economy and fiscal prudence of the RS. The RS is building roads, hydro plants, schools and the building blocks of the future while the Fed is pissing it up the wall.
I will give Bakir credit though at least he won an election unlike his father.

Bakir realises the federation policy has left them behind, if it continues the West will have no alternative but to embrace an independent RS which has more than surprised fulfilling the spirit of democracy and free trade.

Winston,
Heres a liberal think tank the file is older but good read with the value of hindsight, if the US foreign policy took this on board they could have saved the money on it's nation building excersize and used it to increase prosperity in the region.

"the mass graves they engineered continue to be dug up. in fact, exhumation of mass graves has become its own industry"

Yeah, an industry of lie propagation! It does take a lot of work to dig up the bodies of people who had nothing to do with the war (civilians dying from natural deaths, pre-war corpses, etc.), Muslim soldiers who were armed and dangerous and were totally legal casualties, and even non-Muslims who were reclaimed from their resting places by the Muslim side for their sick propaganda purposes. Industry of mass grave exhumation? You, sir, are an extreme proponent of all the lies the Muslim side has vomited over the years in order to secure their place as a victim group so that the US and its allies would bomb Serbs because you were too inept to defeat them like men on the battlefield. Those lies also helped contribute to the continued demonization of the Serbs along with the victimization of the Muslims who are, of course, always innocent and pure. Take a look at a real location of mass killings up north of the Sava: it's called Jasenovac, and 37 of my family were executed there by Ustashe whose willing collaborators were thousands of Muslims, in particular the SS Handzar division. So, Serbs...Western allies in two wars...Muslims, executioners and usurpers of Serb lives and properties. I know I have strayed from my original reason to respond to you, but I wanted to make you aware of a few things you cannot just gloss over.

Roberto...as you have been "wrong" about a great many things. The obvious one is to dismiss, at your convenience, the death of innocent Serb civilians by the hands of Croats and Bosniaks.

I'm certainly no impressed with any of your long winded analysis.

You are such a typical American liberal - you cannot even right an opinion without taking the opportunity to throw in your petty shot with a mis-speaking of Dodik's name. That is why you, and liberals like you, are seen as arrogant, self-proclaimed visionaries of what they think is best for the world, and make fun of poeple that do see things through your warpped eyes - and why the American people are throwing your asses out of government. Roberto, you have zero credibility. You are just another Serb-basher that frequents this site to get your jollies, but does absolutely nothing to promote understanding and healing. BTW, provide us with a link one day so we can all enjoy these greta interviews you conduct in the Balkans. We would all love to read them?

-- Bosniak (Muslim) member of Bosnian Presidency Bakir Izetbegović expressed his apologies on Monday for every innocent victim killed by the Bosnian Army.

I apologize for every innocent victim killed by the BiH Army," Izetbegović told a B92 radio show on Monday, in reference to the 1992-95 war in Bosnia.

The recently elected son of the war-time Bosnian President Alija Izetbegović also noted that all innocent victims should be viewed equally He added that a compromise should be reached between all members of the presidency if an institutional apology for the BiH war victims is to be made.

"If one counts all the victims (killed by) the Bosnian army during the four years of war, the number will be far lower than the number of people murdered in Srebrenica in just one hour," Izetbegović said, assessing that the three nations in Bosnia have been fighting for positions ever since the Dayton Accord, but that it is better to negotiate even one hundred years than to spend a single year in war. --

I have to say, i'm impressed by this newly elected izetbegovic. we interviewed his sister, who i very much like and respect. still, somehow i just assumed that the brother was a "nationalist." it appears that i was wrong, and i'm glad of it.

there were victims from all ethnicities during the balkan wars of the 90s, and each side was guilty of war crimes. i've repeated this so many times, but people read what they choose.

this, however, does not "relativize" everything -- there was an aggressor state, they are to blame for genocide,it was planned out, it was evil, and it is still denied. the mass graves they engineered continue to be dug up. in fact, exhumation of mass graves has become its own industry.

so in real life, we have to understand that more than one truth can hold simultaneously.

i think that izetbegovic will be a wonderful antidote ag. that proxy of the blgd regime, demagogue do-dik. maybe there is hope for my beloved bosnia, after all.

yeah for izetbegovic, and for an honest dealing with the past...
