'And the real joke is that I'd be prepared to bet that nik is preaching to us about who we're supposed to hate from a leafy suburb of Chicago, or some other "enemy" city. Go on, tell me I'm wrong.
(Milos Obilic, 1 November 2010 11:12)
Milos I am not from Chicago nor is my suburb leafy.. enemy city?? Hate? Where is that word mentioned? Milos Obilic slightly amused/bemused by your calling yourself that unless of course it is your real name to which I apologise.
Regarding Truthiness not sure what my mother has to do with this. She certainly didn’t ask me to write it nor played any part in its construction..
My point and here my brevity needed clarifying was that Tadic’s comments taken from a Croatian newspaper article were insensitive when he has made no reference to the victims of Operation Storm nor Serb victims from 1941-45. Given his background his perspective is that of a privileged Communist background which does not represent Serb national interests at all which I stand by.
The evidence is there.

OK so by your logic , any Serbian President MUST - hate all Croatians (apparently thats a prerequesite for any true Serb?)
Hate his wife is she is (possibly part) Croatian.
Hate his own MOTHER if she was apparently only related (through no choice of her own) to some douche bag.

Interesting thoughts going on in that head of yours. With such sound logic, your mum must be so proud:)

I respect president Tadic's efforts to heal the wounds of previous leaders of Serbia, in the name of the Serbian people. If leaders from other nations in the Balkans do not do the same, they will never free themselves of their turbulent past, and not move forward. One can be patriotic, even nationalistic, but when it holds you back, then it is a detriment, and not an asset.
(winston, 31 October 2010 17:00)

I have read some of your comments , and altho I do not agree with alot of your views, I totally agree with your above comment concerning patriotism/nationalism. The instant one defines their identity by the way you hate others , is , by its very nature, very self destrucutive. The sad thing is , most extremists or nationalists have never even met , or spoken to , or read the things they fear so much.
Do Muslim extremists read the Christian Bible - NO
Do Chirtian or Jewish extremists read the Koran- NO
(has any American republican for that matter ever read anything).Have any extremists ever shared a joyous , birth , wedding or friendship with their "enemy" NO.(if they did then by definition they are not your enemy , they are your FRIEND)
The sad thing is , there are some who view this type of blind ignorance as truth.

it's common knowlege that the West did not discourage but even illegally recognized & financed the break-up of SFRJ contrary to the same UN conventions that the same West now invokes to preserve BiH, the very same conventions they simultaneously ignore regarding KiM. That's not a 'cop-out' on my part, it's obviously direct Western complicity.
(highduke, 31 October 2010 20:01)

It seems the only ones who thought it illegal was Milosevic , Seselj and the adherants to a "Greater Serbia" ambition. However according to the EU , the UN , international law that is so often thrown around here , and all the other internaitonl financial , political , diplomatic and social organs, not to mention all the members states of the United Nations , it seems it was perfectly legal. Please , save the conspiracy/victim argument. They are neither backed up with fact nor logic.

It doesn't matter who suffered more casualties even if crimes against Serbs were an act of revenge for Serb crimes bc the latter were acts of revenge for Muslim & Croat for selfishly starting the war on orders from the West. We all suffered together and all share the blame to different degrees
(highduke, 31 October 2010 16:09)

oh, but it does matter who suffered more casualties and which way they were inflicitied. Also, why blame the west? It sounds like a copout!?

Gutsy move by both Presidents. Jospivovic and Tadic are acting int he traditions of Ghandi , Mandela , Martin Luther King Jr. Great leaders who saw peace as a means , as well as an end. To quote Ghandi ,"be the change you want to see in the world". If you want your children to live in peace , then embrace peace and live it. This is not a difficult concept.
