Yes, Amer - Mézga Family is the prototype of Simpsons. If you speak German, you probably still can get it. There is out a version in Slovakian, too.

At least one on Youtube is in German - probably THAT one was banned in CzSk in 80-s... for a good reason. That such episodes could be seen even in Hungary is a small wonder.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1PDLe5KC58

You judge about this and Simpsons. Remember, what you see is at least one decade earlier.

Now I expected (before going back) that Hungarian TV is now full of things like that. Instead it's a pretty bad knock-off of the TV in the States. So I continue to boycott the TV.

Yes! I forgot to mention the trousers, you're right. I had no idea he also spoke Hungarian (Polish, German, etc.). I don't know the other characters - I only met Krtek when I was living in Prague a few years back, where they put the characters (he has friends, of course) on every conceivable type of product for children. The rabbit with the checkered ears may have been around, but I didn't notice him.

Since I'll probably be avoiding reading about American politics as much as possible after the election (ouch!), I'll have time to see what's on the internet - maybe there are some youtube shorts?

Ataman - so the Simpsons have Hungarian roots? Whoever wudda thot it? It's for gems like this I read B92. (The American-bashing you can get anywhere.)

Speaking of cartoons, there's a Czech cartoon character - Krtek, the (Little) Mole, who first appeared in the late 1950s, still going strong - that I wouldn't be surprised is reflected in the peace-loving Muppets - totally different from the typical frenetic American Road Runner, Donald Duck, Tom & Jerry etc. No need to go into the comparative national characters of Czechs and Americans at a Serbian site, though.

Darn, looks like the second link does not work due "é" character having a special status on B92 but without it it should work:

B92,

Please show some class and edit these remarks. "Yankee" is a derogatory term and you never seem to shy away from censoring people you take to say the slightest anti-Serbian thing. It's getting harder and harder to take you seriously. You'll probably censor this.
(Dragan Martic)

No need to get so sensitive. Your obviously new to this site, because you would have known/read the derogetory terms used for reffering to Serbs or anything Serb.

Actually it is fairly evident that the Albano camp on this site and more lea-way than the Serbs do. I wonder why?? B92.. Have any clue?

On contrary, you should read every comment coming from the likes of winston, and than you talk about Albanain comments.

"Please show some class and edit these remarks. "Yankee" is a derogatory term ..."

I personally don't mind it. It's only a derogatory term when used by certain people - for example, Southerners when speaking about Northerners in the US.
(Amer, 30 October 2010 21:53)

That's precisely the truth, of course. In exchange let me reveal you, the "Tácsi Bácsi" is not my copyright at all, and it's by far not as derogatory as some would think...and it has quite a few things to do with Simpsons.

OK, here is the full story.

In 1970-s the "PannóniaFilm" studio created a good number of cartoon / animated series, one better than the other.

One of the "classics" is Dr. Bubó. I am lazy to translate, but here is a pretty much OK automatic translation:

http://tinyurl.com/25edvy3

Now - "Tácsi Bácsi" (more precisely, ácsi bácsi) is from there, it is an aria, sung in the opera called "Darázsfuvola" (mocking Mozart's "Zauberflöte" or "Magic Flute" because the later is called "Varázsfuvola". Varázs = Zauber = magics, but "darázs" = yellowjacket or hornet).

An other timeless classic is "Mézga Család", luckily Wiki article also in English about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mézga_Family

These are really hilarious masterpieces of humor... and because some East German studios had endless time - they translated them into German. That work was done by bi-lingual/multi-ethnic families and there is unclear, what version is really better. For sure, German is a major language - so that translation helped to spread. But the area was still somewhat limited... till the Berlin Wall came down.

After that these cartoons heavily influenced Simpsons, who worked on that series did admit it, no kidding.

I am not sure, which is better out of two. Both (Mézga and Dr. Bubó) can be rather appreciated by adults, quite a few political pointers and stuff like "Magic Flute" versus "Hornet Flute" I mentioned above.

OK, so that's the story of "Tácsi Bácsi".

The original song in original language:

Ácsi bácsi nem mohácsi
Feje egy van lába hat
Hogyha nap süt fenn az égen
Otthon ö nem maradhat

(Uncle from Ács, not from Mohács
he has one head and six legs
If Sun is shining
He can't stay at home)

Pretty harmless children's tune, LOL - obviously about some bug.

The Brits call us Yanks, or used to, and our problems with each other were settled a long time ago. However, the New York Yankees are the traditional rivals of the Boston Red Sox, so when you're in the Northeastern US you might want to be a little careful how you use the term around a member of the Red Sox Nation ("Go, Yankees!!" is not advised), but if you're not from the area, even that shouldn't be a (major) problem.

The combined US/Russia operation on drugs in Afganistan is probably part of Russia's reapproachment with the USA and which reflects the interest Russia has in preventing the spread of Islamist groups in Central Asia in the aftermath of victory by the Taliban and the inroads China and Iran have been making in that mineral rich land.If we're to believe the reports by US geologists the present value of Afganistan's minerals is estimated at $ 3 trillion.

Therefore, the main reason for US/NATO involvement in Afghanistan has never been in bringing democracy and women's lib to a benighted land but in the New Great Game in Central Asia.

It's really laughable to read statements by Karzai that somehow he's in control of Afganistan. It'd well known that he spends his entire time in his security banker in Kabul and he hardly venture outside the suburbs of the city.

Sorry for borrowing the "Hasas Tacsi" from Szemi - but I could not resist to use that nick this time.

So the Yankees went on a narcotics hunt without his permission. Big deal! For 10 years now they have been killing his people aka collateral damage without his permission too!

I am not sure, which is better out of two. Both (Mézga and Dr. Bubó) can be rather appreciated by adults, quite a few political pointers and stuff like "Magic Flute" versus "Hornet Flute" I mentioned above.

OK, so that's the story of "Tácsi Bácsi".

The original song in original language:

Ácsi bácsi nem mohácsi
Feje egy van lába hat
Hogyha nap süt fenn az égen
Otthon ö nem maradhat

(Uncle from Ács, not from Mohács
he has one head and six legs
If Sun is shining
He can't stay at home)

Pretty harmless children's tune, LOL - obviously about some bug.

Darn, looks like the second link does not work due "é" character having a special status on B92 but without it it should work:

in tinyurl (works nearly always on B92):

Now we are set about doctor-owls, Thaçi, Mézga and Simpsons.

Yes, Amer - Mézga Family is the prototype of Simpsons. If you speak German, you probably still can get it. There is out a version in Slovakian, too.

At least one on Youtube is in German - probably THAT one was banned in CzSk in 80-s... for a good reason. That such episodes could be seen even in Hungary is a small wonder.

You judge about this and Simpsons. Remember, what you see is at least one decade earlier.

Now I expected (before going back) that Hungarian TV is now full of things like that. Instead it's a pretty bad knock-off of the TV in the States. So I continue to boycott the TV.
