I am totally amazed that B92 still allows roberto's posts to get through.

They do nothing to add to any discussion. All they are for is to allow roberto to vent and spew venom. No substance, no credibility, no proof of anything just plain vengeful rants.

Are they amusing anyone? I don't think so any more.

I know, we don't have to read them but they are like a train wreck. Nasty but hard not to look.

Serbs may have to be forgiven - but they also need to be given reasons to forgive.

Serbia is the only country serious about arresting and putting all war crime suspects on trial. Also Serbia has handed over far more of their own to Hague than any other country.
What has Bosnia done and they are pretty much forgiven. How much has Croatia done and yes, they are not seen in the same light regardless of what you say.
What have the Albanians done. They have elected their criminals to government.

Now compare how much Serbia has done to how much the others have done and tell me if Serbia has given enough reason to be forgiven or as you say they have to give reason.

I think they have given plenty of reason.

BELGRADE -- The Serbian government decided today in Belgrade to offer a reward of EUR 10mn for "precise and reliable information" on Ratko Mladić...--

well, hurray, hurray. the blg regime is finally getting serious about capturing mass-murderer mladic (not).

anyway, whether they're serious or not, I am. very. i'll be pleased to come up with a little action plan, a nice secret plan with any serious, interested parties. and let's face it, who can't use a few mill? i don't even mind splitting it.

it is appr. $12.78 million (acc to the internet) plus the 5 million us dollars, grand total, $17.78 mill. he-llo...

so do we have to pay serbian income taxes? us income taxes? inquiring minds wanna know. hmm, taxes on rewards... maybe some legal experts out there.

so even if we had 5 plotters, that's over 3.5 mill each? not bad, lots of travel, helping family members, giving to charity. donating some, at least, to the victims of that monster (whom the serbian state owes big-time!)

so please, any and all interested parties, lemme know. i plan to be there this coming spring and am raring to go.

HI Murphy

Why forgive and forget Mladic - he deserves to be tried.

As do all the murders from history.

There is an important point in your argument about the forgiveness of populations. Even there I think differently however. Croatia was born from facsicst murder and (personally) I do not think that Croatia has faced up to that past properly. That makes it impossible move on - there has not been sufficient reckoning. I personally do not want to see Croatia in the EU until these issues are addressed much better.

You are right that time makes difference. I think that there has been an under current that has prevented the happenings of Jacinovac being discussed because it could not be used as a justification for the recent Balkan wars. Now time has past, we can begin to bring those things into better historical focus. Croatia has to address that issue better - it was a huge effect on the Serbs, and while not justifying the Bosnian conflict, it does require resolutions that are still not possible. Forgiveness for Jacinovac and all the associated atrocities can come, but not under current attitudes.

Germany had a bad past, but it was defeated and had to face up to that past. We have a new Germany built in a different mould. Modern Germany is not the same thing as came before - the holocaust is not forgiven, but the taint does not reflect much on the modern German population.

Serbia is facing up to the recent past and coming back from that having faced substantial intervention against it - that creates grounds for new understandings that will hopefully include forgiveness. Facing up to the arrest of Mladic is something that Serbia is being required to do and I think it will come through rejecting the past all the better when that is done.

However, Croatia still thinks of itself as a winner despite how it was formed - a sense of disgust would be more appropriate particularly given the particular viciousness that even surpassed the SS. Until it faces up to that much more I don't think that the taint can be allowed to fade.

Serbs may have to be forgiven - but they also need to be given reasons to forgive.

The war ended 15 years ago. It's time to forget about Mladic. Why spend $10 million to dredge this up so long after the fact?

According to the demographers at the Hague Tribunal, out of an overall death toll of 102,000 civilians and soldiers combined, approxamately 38,000 Croatian and Muslim civilians combined died in the Bosnian war.

If, by 1991, the Serbs were supposed to have forgotten about the wholesale slaughter of 385,000 Serb civilians living in the NDH (present day Bosnia and Croatia) and willingly agree to live in states goverened by their former executioners (Croats and Muslims), then I think 15 years is long enough that everybody can forget about Mladic.

The number of civilians killed among the Croatian and Muslim population during the Bosnian war are only 1/10th the number of Serb civilians killed by Croats and Muslims during World War II.

So if 46 years (1945-1991) is sufficient time for the Serbs to forgive and forget a crime of that magnitude, then the Croats and Muslims should certainly be able to forgive and forget anything Mladic may have done in 1/10th that time period. They should have been over this ten years ago.

Mladic's head is a lot bigger than Osama's, JohnC. You know who has an even larger head, Thaci. Have you ever seen a larger one? Anyway, I have little faith in these rewards, they have been outstanding for many years, and to no avail.

More then anything Serbian government hopes he dies of natural causes. If he is captured he will spill the beans of how Serbia was the main instigator and planer of the aggressions on the other Republics. This bluff of upping the ante is for Serbias bid to get a proving passing grade to get in to the EU. More or less Serbias recycled old tricks they pull out from their worn out hat of tricks it is Halloween almost you know.

Yet it has been suggested that Serbia needs to look to the future and disregard the past (MARK). Unfortunatley Mark, you comment yesterday is based on chosen ignorance. Certainly Germany today can's screw with Russia as it does daily with Serbia. Can you say nuclear deterent? Tell me, what did NATO do to Russia when Georgia got man handled like a rented mule..NOTHING.

The obvious fact is that Germany has historically proven itself time and again as an agitator for the Balkans It was Germany's Kohl who was the main pusher for the disintegration of then Yugoslavia for it's old WW2 ally Croatia. FACT.

If we are to look to the future as you suggested...why do you need Mladic or for that matter any Serb who fought against Croat and Muslim/Albanian terrorists? Oh...you mean Serbs need to forget the past and the death of it's people for your convenience? Now I get it. Response: NO, NEVER.

Anyone who has information leading to Mladić's hiding place should submit it to the Serbian police (MUP), it was announced.

How safe is to pass that info to MUP agent? You may nevere live to enjoy that 10 mil or I should say, you will never be there to collect the check and if you make it, it may bounce once you presented to the bank teller. Sorry guys, for putting all the eggs in one basket.

I didn't keep track but with that amount of 15 Mio (10 Mio Serbia, 5 Mio US) Mladic's head is more worth than Osama Bin Ladens (currently 5 Mio).
