Looks like that Chavez needs once again a scapegoat for its failed economic policy. Other states with that huge oil reserves easily exceeds their capita income of 40 000USD/year. Venezuela, however, is still below 14 000, despite its huge energy resources. I can fully understand why Chavez wants to make others responsible for his failure.

Oh yeh, except that the oligarchic opposition has lost every election and referendum (well, every referendum but one) in the last 12 years, usually by masive margins, in a country that has had more elections and referendums than any other country in the world, and a country where virtually the entire media is controlled by the opposition. Simply because Chavez is massively popular amomg those who matter, the workers, peasants and the por. The oligarchy by definition are a minority.

Hey "American", why don't you go down there down south to that those enemy lands down Venezoola where those bad guys and injuns are doin bad things to Americans who only want to rule tha world, you take your own cruise missile with you and do you own Bay of Pigs (hah!) and get your backside kicked for me.

Leonidas,

Kosovo-USA and many of his Brooklyn Albanian buddies will bake their special Illyrian-style anti-Chavez pizzas that the US Air Force will use against civilian targets to force Chavez go into Cuban exile. Once the US has installed a pro-US government this government will sell the oil industry to US companies for peanuts. Before some of us get all excited and pumped up to spew war rhetoric it would be wise to carefully check this message. Maybe it is crated by the CIA to give the US a lame excuse to invade another country or maybe it was created by Chavez's government to annoy the US.

They still have elections in Venezuela - they can take care of him on their own. Opposition parties won in the recent election, even with Chavez' efforts to rig it (by giving voters in the regions where he was popular greater clout than in the areas where he is unpopular). It will be better for Venezuela (not to mention the US) if they deal with him themselves. Since he's ruining the economy, they may decide he has to go very soon.

The US didn't invade Cuba when Castro expropriated US businesses - it used to send in the Marines in South America when this happened, true, but now they just wait for things to return to normal and sue for restitution. If the US didn't react when oil company assets were seized, it's not going to do anything about a bottle-making plant.

As Einstein once mentioned:

"The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result."

After the experiences of the past half century, you'd think it's obvious that the governments are hardly the best at running factories.

Venezuelans seem to disagree.

I wish that country the best of luck in destroying itself.

Chavez was elected democratically, so Venezuelans will have no one to blame but themselves.

There's no need for war Leonidas. Accidents do happen and a lot of random crime in Venezuela. Plus, opposition is there and ready to take over.

If you regard yourself as a true US patriot waiving the flag you might as well put your money where your mouth is.

Get yourself enlisted and train with the US army to go and fight the next war.If not then send your sons or daughters to fight for your beliefs.

Anybody could be brave from the comfort area of his own home.
