"EU Collapse in Three Years" is the next headline.

So you are saying that since they are considering admitting Serbia they are doomed to collapse?

"I read that Montenegro will obtain EU candidate status in December.

WAZ says http://waz.euobserver.com/887/31080 that December is "technically impossible" because the German approval procedure requires weeks. So, probably March 2011.

"Recognizing Kosovo will not be a condition for Serbia getting close to the EU, said this official, and added that the announced talks between Belgrade and Priština should start as soon as possible. "

-- So getting close to the EU seems to be the problem. Getting in is a totally different kind of beast. Notice getting close as opposed to getting in. Details seem to matter sometimes.

Estonia still joined the EU even though its border with Russia has not been regulated. Since then the russian Duma has ratified the agreement but not the estonian parliament (unless they have done it very recently).

When it comes to the EU, everything is up for negotiation and compromise, which any keen observer of the EU would know... The dutchies swallowing their pride yesterday is a more recent example...

'Good neighborly relations' is subjective and thus can be fluffed like all the other criteria (Bg & Ro for example).

Good that you can read, had the feeling that you never read your posts since they tend to be repetitively boring....
I suggest you apply for a job in Brussels as a fortune teller, surely you would be accepted!

Recognizing Kosovo will not be a condition for Serbia getting close to the EU, said this official,

Yes but good neighborly relations, and no open territorial issues imported into the EU are very strong conditions. Serbia cannot fullfill any of those under the current constitution.Hence no EU.

Mircea, you would probably find a much better job than cleaning public lavatories in Brussels and even a better place to stay than a dirty gas-heated tent there, if you went back to Romania or anywhere east.

You would at least be respected for the wonderful human being you are, rather than a 2:nd rate cheap labour or even worse. Face reality. Dreaming to upgrade your current status in Brussels is a futile quest, tousands of Romanians will confirm that Mirc.

In the best case scenario Serbia will obtain EU candidate status in December 2012 and will begin EU membership negotiations in 2013.

I read that Montenegro will obtain EU candidate status in December.
