"I don't care how Brussels papers over their own cracks or tries to save the face of a couple of the member states but they agreed to the deal with regards Serbia's UNGA vote, i.e. the start of the accession process without handing over Mladic or (the famously serb name of) Hadzic."

They lied, AGAIN. What's new?
I am surprised that anyone actually thought they might allow Serbia in EU after they signed away Kosovo.
I always kept saying, what about Mladic?

Tadic must've known this. If it was evident to us why not him?

"The Belgian EU presidency announced this today and explained that 26 EU member states advocated Serbia’s new step toward the membership in the EU while the Netherlands was against it."

The Netherlands has a very good reason to be stubborn on the Mladic case.
They failed the Serbs and the Muslims of Srebrenica because they were too cowardly to protect the Serbs first from being murdered by the Muslims and when Mladic decided to do something about it they failed to protect the Muslims. They have to remain stubborn because if they don't they can't keep blaming Mladic for the whole mess.

I don't know why they volunteer for any missions. They simply are not up to it.

No delay, not even one second. On the Netherland's head be it.

If anyone can square the circle, it is Brussels. Tick tock!

‘The Belgian official also repeated that Serbia was a key country for stability of the Western Balkans’

Only one country was ever key to the stability of the Western Balkans.

That country – Yugoslavia – was cynically and systematically destroyed in 1991 by the very forces that now disingenuously moan about the need for stability in the Balkans.
