The Hitler comparison has been made before, by those who had first-hand experience of such matters.

Marek Edelmann, the last surviving commander of the Jewish resistance fighters in the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto uprising, described what was happening in Bosnia during the 1992-1995 war as: "Hitler's victory from the grave ... In Bosnia we are facing genocide and Europe is behaving how it behaved when we fought in the ghetto."

Ratko Mladić is a monster and has to face justice now, not later. Those who shield him or try to make excuses for him are a stain on the good name of Serbia.
(Jovan R., 23 October 2010 00:47)

This is the typical character from "Srbijanci" (Serbs from Serbia).
When he was there during 1991 and 1992 you were shouting his name and loving him,and now, then our Western enemies want ,you would sell a Serb out just to please our enemies...
Thats what you Srbijanci did with Karadjordje,Draza Mihajlovic,Milosevic and even during Yugoslavia you were the biggest "Yugoslavs".
Fortunately,Serbs in the RS and Montenegro have character.
They would NEVER sell out somebody from their own blood,

As for Jews comparing us with Nazis, yep, the ones who are engaging in a genocide upon the Palestinian people are lecturing us about "genocide"?

Well, since you asked... i hesitate to make broadly overarching comparisons, esp. to ww2, but sometimes they are extremely fitting.

i am personally more sympathetic to svetlana broz's analysis (in the late 1980s) of milosevic as the new Hitler in europe -- as a very dangerous demagogue willing to slaughter thousands, even millions (incl his own people) in order to get and keep what he wanted (power), whatever was in his so-called heart. like hitler, he used selective racism as it pleased him, relied on horrible old stereotypes, and was willing to go to any lengths. something btwn a hitler and a stalin, but of course from another era. mira was his lady macbeth. all too many serbs were his willing executioners, but some stood up to his evil, and some of them paid a great price indeed.

to continue the analogy, i think of karadzic as something like the serb eichmann -- with an emphasis on balkan version. utterly different personality types, but both strongly anti-social personalities, and very willing to do whatever it took to satisfy their needs ($$, power, gambling tables, "broads", whatever.) who knows what was/is in his so-called heart, or cares? very dangerous individual, very dangerous, and frankly very weird. must never see the light of day away from prison. very evil.

mladic -- that would be something more like one of the nazi generals, more than willing to do the politicians' dirty work (mass murder) and not squawk too much, whatever his misgivings. also anti-social type in his own way, no feelings of guilt. something like general frank (?) or the one in poland who helped mass murder our family and their frnds. yes it's true his daughter killed herself, which was a kind of punishment for his sins, but not nearly enough in my opinion. he should also never see the light of day outside of prison (since they don't execute in civilized netherlands.)

it is unforgivable that both karadzic and mladic (and all the others) had and have been sheltered for so many years. as we understand it, the whole arrest of karadzic was mere "accident," all the while he was, um, hiding out in nationalist cafes! tall as an oak tree and 3 times as weird. gimme a friggin break.

i will never forgive those responsible for sheltering of these mass murders, and nothing that anyone can write here can move us from our stance. the current blgd regime has been responsible for hiding mladic and that govt must turn him over NOW. and i hope it then does fall, it deserves to.

i swear, fascism by any other name...

"Now PRN claims Mladic is the same as a man who executed millions? Man this guy is deluded."

-- Well if PRN has lost family members from the orders Milosevic gave than he is right. So for all those that indeed have lost family members from Milosevic, who so many of you seem to adore, Milosevic is indeed worse than Hitler especially since Hitler didn't cause their loved ones' deaths; Milosevic did. On the other hand Milosevic didn't kill Jews he killed Albanians. So of course Jews wouldn't agree with PRN.

Zoran,

You forgot Indonesia. Even if we ignore the genocide over East Timor back in '73(?) which the US and the West turned a blind eye to, the indonesian army operated death squads ('special forces' of course) when it got its independence a few years back and had its wrist slapped for a few years.

The US has recently announced (this year) that is has fully re-engaged with the indonesian military and will train with these same special forces (as Indonesia is a strategic ally)! Pity the poor fools who think that there is something such as 'international justice'...

As for Ljajić, is it just me or is he in the news rather a lot? Is he bored or something or does Belgrade think this continuous bleating about Mladic will somehow make it look better in the media abroad?

What I'd like to know is when the Dasht-i-Leili massacre is going to be investigated? When will the UN court judge this to be genocide committed by US/NATO and Northern alliance soldiers? Who is responsible for the removal of mass graves and the cover up?

It should be fairly easy to track down George Bush, Tony Bliar and Rashid Dostum. Dostum is still serving in the Afghan government.

8000 Taliban POWs were involved in this genocide. Where are all those human rights lovers now? I suppose they expose their selective justice side when it comes to admitting their own crimes.

Watch the full documentary and see the eye witness who counted 8000 POWs. Also, many people who provided evidence for this documentary have been killed.

Has Ljajic been updated on the latest Mladić’s whereabouts, has he really some clues on it or is it once again submitting reports to EU by means of media. The fact is that the National Council for Cooperation with The Hague Tribunal has made a substantial progress, but the Tribunal wants Mladić and Hadžić apprehended and transferred to the Hague. By the way I think that their citizenships should be revoked, their assets and assets of their families be confiscated.I am looking forward the imminent arrest operation.
