"The average monthly wage is now below even that of neighboring Albania, which for Serbs is tantamount to a civilizational collapse. These are the breeding grounds for this week’s extremism."

This is actually funny and the reaction from the commentators confirm what I am about to say.

For Serbs, anything is okay and somewhat acceptable but not Albania to be better than Serbia. Oh No, anything but that. Serbian purpose in life is simply to be better than Albanians, no need to go any further as long as Albanians live worse than Serbs. If the above was ever to happen this would be "Serbian Apocalipse". What's life worth for, if Albanians live better than Serbs?

I want to see Albania make it into EU before Serbia, just to see the jealousy exploding like a bomb in the middle of Belgrade.

On that day, entire groups of people would commit mass-suicide ("harakiri" style) in front of the Serbian parliament. Flags will be half-mast and no music will be allowed for one week. The mentioning of Albania will be punishable by death, unless is used in a sentence that also contains words like "criminals", "villagers", "muslim terrorist" and "spiders". Every woman in Serbia seen with lipstick on that day will be charged with not patriotic enough (a.k.a not good enough Albanian hater)... Well you get the picture.

... but please get a grip!

This is my favorite line “The average monthly wage is now below even that of neighboring Albania”. If Albania is such a paradise why do thousands of their people leave every year for the EU rather than stay?????? In fact why do they even go to Kosovo???? Some believe that Kosovo is better than Albania.
This is the best the west can offer, think tanks talking such utter rubbish. Once again the west uses dodgy figures based on selling real estate to support a high standard of living; ask the US how many schools it has closed in the Detroit district alone since 2007? I can make Chad, one of Africa’s poorest countries, look better than the US on paper, but what about reality boys???? Or is that just too much to ask for from the soi called “free press”??
As far as the Dutch are concerned it’s all an act because the EU cannot afford to expand – there is no more money. The Dutch are even complaining about letting in Croatia – the budget is empty; there is nothing to offer countries entering the EU.
Personally I jump for joy when I see that Serbia’s EU entry is delayed. By the way the “hooligans” are well organized and if you dig a little deeper they are being controlled by that other “gorilla” sitting in the lounge room that the west and Tadic refuse to recognize. If Tadic and his cohorts are not careful they will be out of office very soon; the Russians are getting a tad restless and no amount of US/EU propping up will save their little poodle.

To call Slobodan Milosevic a nationalist, is an insult to all nationalists...
Those kind of brush strokes just make me jump to every other line of useless text..

But then i forgot..
It was a Stratfor article..

Everything else fell into place.

Why favour STRATFOR reports?

Why is this?

STRATFOR is a small, insignificant think-tank which operates on the intellectual margins without significant government or independent funding.

STRATFOR provides no staff list on its website to indicate the size of the institute, in contrast to serious think-tanks in the "Go To" think tank index.

Could it be that, unlike the International Crisis Group (ICG), STRATFOR reports are highly sympathetic to the generally held view in Serbia (with a few honourable exceptions) that "all sides are equally guilty" when it comes to war crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia?

Perhaps this is just coincidence, but whatever the reason the fact that the Balkans largest independent media outlet with the widest selection of English webpages reproduces the reports of a marginal institute on a repeated basis is a bit odd.

This another absurd threat of the pro-serb lobby to give Serbia what it wants or another Hitler is in coming.
And the dutch answered,

uhhh... you got it wrong mate. The Dutch are Serbia's allies within. They are doing Serbia a big favor with this delay.

I'd have to agree with the underlying reasons given in this article, these also apply to all the ex-Yu republics aswell as albania. I better further in the EU is however a pipedream and counterproductive, the EU is NOT our ally and never will be...at best a trading partner.
