Belgrade to bid for European Capital of Culture

A committee set up to organize Belgrade's candidacy for European Capital of Culture in 2020 will officially submit the bid to the EC in early December.

he three cities in Romania which will submit the bid for European Capital of Culture 2020 are Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca and Iasi.

Understand the other two - but why on Earth not Suceava? IMO, more historical than Iasi. In particular, the painted monasteries around Suceava. Even during Ceausecu era when traveling from the "West" was pretty expensive and not-so-welcome, the Suceava area was full of French tourists and they are picky about culture.
