Some Serbs again put themselves before the US and EU in hope that they can dine at the same table many years in the future. They welcome the wife of the monster who bombed Serbia, she who said she dodged bullets in Bosnia. Are Serbs now so lacking in love of country that they let this woman walk on Serbian soil hallowed by the blood of Serbian Martyrs? God save Serbia! Serbians won't!

Leo

pre 13 godina

Mrs. Clinton should be promptly arrested for war crimes against the Serbs. Absent the ability to do that, please treat her with some contempt and disrespect. By the way, there is no possibility she will be Secretary of State for even another year as her planned resignation is an open secret. The Democrats will lose Congress in four weeks. The Treasury is bankrupt. The US military is overstretched and ...not ...coming ...to the...rescue. Show some courage and stand up to her.

The current Serbian government may not keep the nationalists happy, but anyone who think Milosevic tactics are going to do any good for Serbia is missing the main point. Now Serbia has pinched its nose and decided to talk with the provincial usurpers, strangely and subtly Serbia is moving to the higher ground where it can take control of its relationships instead of being whipped by the US.

Serbia should move quietly without the involvement of noisy western politicians. Allow this issue to cool for a very long while. Clinton is just a nuisance that should be kept at a decent distance.

I am not anti-American, I simply do not agree with their current foreign policy (in fact, for the last 15 years), and while i agree that they have stopped conflict in the Balkans, I don't believe they have dealt with the issues in such a way to avoid further conflicts in the future.

They should establish the peace and serve as mediators, not stomp all over the place in their dirty boots.

"KU, the spoiled attempt to smuggle a ton of cocaine by Uruguayan and Serbian authorities was meant for the European market, not little Uruguay. But the key here is that the smuggling attempt was stopped by Serbia and Uruguay. Get it, it never made it out of South America. Can you name one time where the Kosovo Albanian authorities stopped a drug deal Kosovo? No, you can't. The previous poster is correct, Kosovo supplies more drugs, and other crimes to Europe than anyone else. Why can you not accept the facts? Ask any European, in any large European city, what they associate Albanians with, give it a try and see for yourself what the answers will be."
(papajohn, 30 September 2010 20:07)

papajohn, average Europeans are racist in general with people from the Balkans, from Eastern Europe, from North Africa, South Africa, and Asia. No need to ask, I know what the average European on the street associates albanians with (drugs and prostitution). I also know what they associate serbs with (killing and genocide). Both perceptions are wrong. To get back to your question, stopping 10 kg does not make the news. Stopping 2200 kg does make the news.

The thing you should ponder about is that this is getting OLD. Any time some Serb mentions drugs and Albanians in the same sentence, I can go back to the date October 24 2009 and post the link about those 5 Serbs smuggling cocaine, or talk about Serbs killing their Prime Minister or burning the American Embassy as they do in fundamentalist countries etc etc. Bottom line is racism can go both ways and that is something you will lose if one tries to answer to you in the same tone as you do. For example:
Do you know that only about 15% of the drugs are intercepted worldwide (no link for this, find it on your own :)). That means that around 10 tons of cocaine have already passed. Again, why do you think the Uruguayan guy came a couple of days ago? Do you think if the problem was solved there would be the need for that guy to come to Serbia and sign a cooperation agreement with Dacic? Do you think 5 people alone can really smuggle 2.2 tons of cocaine from one continent to another? Don't you think that to be able to smuggle that amount of cocaine, a much larger network is needed, support at the state level maybe. Do you think 5 nobodies can really do this? They have to buy the drug by somebody else. To do that I would expect one has to have some sort of reputation, nobody I think sells 2.2 tons of cocaine to 5 nobodies they don't know, they must have some sort of reputation from previous jobs like this. They also need to have money to buy 2.2 tons of cocaine. I don't know how much, but I would imagine a looooot of money. How did they make so much money? Loan from the Bank of Serbia? No, very probably by previous smuggling that was not intercepted. Bottom line is smuggling at these levels can only be carried out by a much larger network which apparently is still out there and part of it or all of it is still in Serbia.

Getting Old and Boring.

'the two sides should have dialogue with each other' what? I thought it was a done deal. It appears that nothing is settled without Serbia and the Thaci etc are dragging their feet saying it willl take months because of elections. Perhaps the United States of Antipathy are facing the new reality.
(Diana, 30 September 2010 09:45)
You make it sound like Serbia is ready tomorrow. Your officials have not even had the first meeting to discuss who, when, where, and most importantly what is going to be discussed.
All you have is several individuals giving their opinion on the matter. Even if there are elections in Kosovo, I would bet they will be ready before Serbia comes up with a consensus on the elements of talks.
Because to talk of anything other than status is to talk as equals. And any mention of status will not even bring Kosovo or the EU in the same city little on the same room.

Thanks, but no thanks Hill. I think the last time the US was objective with any post-conflict resolution was the Dayton Agreement, and ever since its signing Washington has regretted it.

If Hillary can't come up with an agreement between Israel and Palestine, what gives anyone hope that their presence over the future of Kosovo will be anything other than obstructive? No no, best to stay home and let the EU handle this alone.

Peter Sudyka

I think America's meddling in the Balkans has caused enough damage. What can they be proud of, other than creating an artificial state (B&H, which is only only unified and functioning as a unified state in some parallel universes perhaps, but not here on planet Earth, after such scarring as the Bosnian War created between the three constituent peoples) and a stillborn abortion (Kosovo, which is like a half-baked meal, not this, not that, literally in a purgatory from which it can't seem to move, since the world can't seem to agree on what to do with it in one voice).

In an ideal world, one side would have to bend to the will of the other, since there can't be an agreement that both sides will accept as the situation stands now, though this mess wouldn't even be in existence, were it not for American interference in Balkan affairs in the first place.

Hence why America should back off and tend to its own flock. Leave the Balkans be to their own way of reaching an agreement on their own.

I seem to be quite pessimistic and bitter lately, forgive me for that.

PRN is top contender, and winner, of "jokester of the month", every month, Top. This person still lives in BC Illyria, when the great sheep-herding Albanian tribes were creating havoc across the Balkan peninsula. Hey, sounds like today. Anyway, of course the US will "help" find solutions for Kosovo. America created, and made possible, a so-called independent Kosovo, and they will see it through to the end. The thing is though, in my opinion, their end game has changed. Has anyone noticed that the KLA leaders in Pristina are dropping like flies, either in the Hague, or all of a sudden have "conflicts of interest". Is this by chance, now that talks are due to commence - I'm not so sure. This argument is getting old now and it makes no sense. EU was flooded with drugs wayyyy before Kosovo became independent.

Hey,
If this does not work out, Clinton can always bomb us again - just like her old man did when we didn't play ball down there in OUR Kosovo!
But back then we did not have a Serbian government ready to sell our country at any price just to be considered for EU integration. Maybe when we have sold off Raska too we will then be put in the waiting line for EU membership and ALL the glory that brings with it! Maybe it would really be easier just to bomb us again! This would be much less painful for us true Serbs than acting as prostitutes to the EU and US!!!

USA are occupying the serbian southern province of Kosovo by proxy clients. They have also erected a military base and a torture-gulag without permission from any legitimate authority.

Non-sense, the U.S.A. are, even more than the E.U.,
onesidely promoting the K.-Albanians interests.

What a factitiousness to declare the U.S.´s stance
as "fair and balanced".

The interest of the U.S.A. in promoting "Kosova" is their military base in Kosovo and the fact that the U.S.A. consider Serbia as a part of the "Russian sphere of influence".

And, in contrast to the E.U. member states, the U.S.A. do not face the long-term negative impact of the existence of "Kosova":

"Kosova" is flooding the European markets with criminality (including export of heroin). (By the way, that´s the great interest of the E.U. to sufficiently solve the Kosovo-issue.)

Thus, the U.S.´s stance will always be imbalanced and unfair !

DO NOT ALLOW THE U.S.A. TO TAKE PART IN THESE NEGOTIATIONS !

Like I posted on another story, Tadic has become the West's new "golden boy", "The times, they are a changin'", thank you Mr. Dylan.

"I guess we ALL agree on this. USA politics in the Balkans has practically always has been fair and balanced, and with aim of repairing the faults of the past." (PRN)

-- May not be as ridiculous as some, including myself would initially like to think. Dayton was fair and balanced, and considering the US got what it wanted in Kosovo - a military base and an unbelievably naive govenment - we can pretty much be in favor of giving Belgrade a number of concessions as long as the above two aren't touched.

This argument is getting old now and it makes no sense. EU was flooded with drugs wayyyy before Kosovo became independent. Additionally, Kosovo is not the source of these drugs but one of the countries that might form part of the transit route. If you look at map you'll realise that to get the heroin from Afghanistan to EU through Kosovo you have to go through a half a dozen countries or more including EU countries....and probably even Serbia!! (no doubt you'll dispute that)

EU is only interested in keeping a relative peace and they'll do anything for that - hence way they never take hard decisions necessary to solve the Balkan problems.
