UNMIK, which has declared the Serbian one illegal since 2006. I think we all agree than is UNMIK which governs Kosovo under 1244.

You make me laugh. Now you admit that Kosovo is not independent and is being administered by UN under resolution 1244.

Fine, I accept that but it was not UN who went on this mad destruction of Serbian property. It was the Albanians so again this makes you the guilty ones and thugs.
Did you get permission from the UN to do this?
I didn't think so.

Very clever propaganda. How about the negligency of the family. Why not to stop someone on the street to help or just throw the man on a push cart and take to hospital. Gracanica is not Los Angeles is size. Instead, lament all night what to do. Congratulations.

You guys don't even have a country code and won't so what on earth makes you think that your operators are the legal ones?

JohnnyC, if the man only had a land line and no cell phone, what are his other options? He obviously wasn't in a condition to go to the nearest store or facility to buy a new Kosovo cell phone or setup a land line service with Kosovo. Am I missing something here, what other options did he have?
(Ark I, 30 September 2010 15:48)

Yea and family members seem to have cared so much they didn't bother to do anything else. This story was brought to you by the government in Belgrade. Ready made for ART; and sponsoring B92.

Wrong and if you were here you would know that. There are at least 3 other systems that operate. Whether you disagree with the RAT actions and whether or not you consider ST legal or illegal, there are other providers available.

No they were not available. Your brethren destroyed them. So I ask again. What were they supposed to use to call the ambulance? A carrier pigeon? Smoke signals?
(Peggy, 30 September 2010 10:50)
Yes, smoke signals, that was the Serbian choice of communication across Kosovo in 1999 wasn't it. And people thought it was a cleansing campaign, they were just communicating with each other.
If you support resolution 1244, you support the fact that the destroyed phone lines were illegal entities in Kosovo. UNMIK has said so for years and even dismantled towers in 2006.

the serbian regime has stated time and time again that they will not lift a finger to protect kosovos serbs. the army, whose officers were trained and indoctrinated in places such as ohio, has also stated that they will never protect serbs in kosovo.

if there were men of any integrity or honesty in belgrade, they would begin evacuating and finding homes for our kin in kosovo-but they would rather continue to play thier sly games.

in a few weeks a ten day long gay parade will be held in belgrade. the tadic regime and its police have stated that they will take drastic measures to protect the gay marchers. they have spent millions of euros in preperation. they have spent nothing to protect the serbs in kosovo, they take no police action against seperatists in sandzak, millions of serbs are hungry and without work yet millions of euros are squandered to please amnesty international. the tadic regime is desperate to eneter the eu-its thier only way to survive politacally.

xheti, you couldn't help yourself but take another jab at anything Serbian, with your Pristina hospital comment. It is attitudes like yours, that defends, or exaggerates, anything Albanian, that will forever hold Kosovo back. Why in the world would you think that Albanian doctors would treat a Serb patient better than a Serbian doctor? And to make a silly comment like that when the article is about the destruction of disputed phone service - unbelievable hatred from you guys.
(papajohn, 29 September 2010 16:04)

I will answer your questions,,,first of all thic article in one way or another says that this man died because medical help couldn't reach him because of no phone services.
Secondly i didn't say that Albanian doctor are better or worse than serbian ones, what i was trying to say is that Prishtina hospital is actually better place for more serious cases than Gracanica local hospital ( Prishtina's hospital is central one in Kosova better equiped and prepared than any local one).
As for the 'black hole' you are refering to, i wouldn't worry to much if i was you, Kosova has never been better be sure about this, and it's youngest population in Europe will make sure that it never gets ruled by Serbia anymore.

Kosovo USA...now you are a health expert as well. May I recommend...open mouth insert foot, so that it this audience may have enjoy occlusion from your thoughtless words. Even in death, your words ring of hatred and complete lack of human regard. Your people killed him, plain and simple.

When do telephones save lives you say....uhhh have you ever hear of 911? It's called the "golden hour." This refers to the time of injury to definitive care during which treatment of shock and traumatic injuries should occure because survival potential is best. After 60 minutes, the body has increasing difficulty in compensativng for shock and traumtic injuries. The man and daughter could not call because KLA destroyed property belonging to Serbia. We call it terrorism here in the US, perhaps you heard of terrorist when KLA tried to bomb a US military base in NY?

This poor gentleman could have been saved, as he had the classic acute myocardian infarction (AMI). FYI: infarction for all those who may not know is the death of the tissue.

If only KOSOVO USA had AMI or perhaps your child....I wonder who you gonna call? 911 or Thaci. Disgraceful.

Abruptly cutting off communication lines should be perceived as a crime. I do not see much success happening in upcoming talks, when Pristina behaves like this. Why do the internationals allow this to happen? They are more responsible than Thaci.

First I wanna start with RIP to the old man. There are 4-5 companies operating in Kosovo where they could dial emergancy center, if there is anyone to blame for this kind of situtation I would look at family members. Not long ago did two operatotors provide local Serbs with free of charge simcards, same as we local Albanians have to pay. You dont need to use them daily or refill, but keep it close for emergancy use, you'll never know.

Rest in peace to the man who past, but let there be a lesson that knowledge is life and not more Serb propaganda about cels and whatnot.

I am really sory about this death, but you can't say it was impossible to get help. They could use other cards ( which were distributed free of charge ) and call 112 for free, so the old man would be treated on even better hospital in Prishtina.

VERY SORRY FOR THE DEATH OF THIS KOSOVO CITIZEN. CONDOLENCES GO TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

However do not try to associate illegality of phone services with peoples death...

Albanians CANNOT live not even a few hours without phone connection let alone days. I wonder how many Serbs will be blaming deaths because illegal phone providers were cut.

This is similar as to say..."a Serb died of hunger because Kosovo authorities cut bread supplies from Serbia. Stubburn Serbs do not want to eat Albanian bread and prefer hunger and eventual death rather than eat Albanian bread."

I think some people need psychological check up!!?

not rocket science

Question: If the family had been using a stolen car and the police confiscated it, would you be blaming the police because they could not transport him to the hospital??
No difference.

If the man had been Albanian and had died as a result of Serbia cutting off the phone lines then every news station in the world would lead with stories of "cruelty" etc.

As it is, nothing.

All under the eyes of the EU that Serbia is rushing blindly towards...

Thanks but no thanks...

Goran.

pre 13 godina

Now do the albanians see? Who were the phone lines affecting? If the albanians don't like the Telekom Srbija line then don't use the bloody things. Simple as that. You don't go around destroying equipment, leading to the death of an innocent man.

Abruptly cutting off communication lines should be perceived as a crime. I do not see much success happening in upcoming talks, when Pristina behaves like this. Why do the internationals allow this to happen? They are more responsible than Thaci.

Since when do landlines need sim cards? If the line is cut the landline doesn't work. Pristina is responsible for this death, plain and simple so stop with your propaganda.

Tadic and his comrades should start thinking about their own positions.

this is something that won´t be forgotten, the passive behaviour of Serbia´s ruling elite in this criminal act against serbian citizens that has caused the first death among the serb population.

xheti, you couldn't help yourself but take another jab at anything Serbian, with your Pristina hospital comment.

"VERY SORRY FOR THE DEATH OF THIS KOSOVO CITIZEN. CONDOLENCES GO TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. PNR."

You should have written: Very sorry for the death of this Serbian citizen. It is the right of all Serbs in all of Kosovo to reject the UDI and consider themselves Serbs for as far as they are concerned they live in Serbia and not in the fake state of "Kosova". There are no such people as Kosovars. You are either Albanian, Serb, or part of one of the other minorities.

I've very sorry for what happened to this man, and i don't feel cavalier about it.

i don't believe that the politicians, who cares about from which country, or the companies for that matter, care a fig about the fate of the common people. that's us, folks.

but how these situations so consistently morph into the usual hate campaign ag. the alb...s, and how the media so consistently uses these situations to pour fuel onto the ethnic hatreds (in the balkans!?)-- that i find indefensible.

That is not surprising. People not being able to contact police or an ambulance was first thing I thought when I heard of them taking down antennas, I was waiting to see when it would happen.

Ark I

That is a good point Zoran. Especially since he is an old man, he is much less likely to use a cell phone, so a land line would have been his only choice.

the serbian regime has stated time and time again that they will not lift a finger to protect kosovos serbs. the army, whose officers were trained and indoctrinated in places such as ohio, has also stated that they will never protect serbs in kosovo.

if there were men of any integrity or honesty in belgrade, they would begin evacuating and finding homes for our kin in kosovo-but they would rather continue to play thier sly games.

in a few weeks a ten day long gay parade will be held in belgrade. the tadic regime and its police have stated that they will take drastic measures to protect the gay marchers. they have spent millions of euros in preperation. they have spent nothing to protect the serbs in kosovo, they take no police action against seperatists in sandzak, millions of serbs are hungry and without work yet millions of euros are squandered to please amnesty international. the tadic regime is desperate to eneter the eu-its thier only way to survive politacally.

Wrong and if you were here you would know that. There are at least 3 other systems that operate. Whether you disagree with the RAT actions and whether or not you consider ST legal or illegal, there are other providers available.

JohnnyC, if the man only had a land line and no cell phone, what are his other options? He obviously wasn't in a condition to go to the nearest store or facility to buy a new Kosovo cell phone or setup a land line service with Kosovo. Am I missing something here, what other options did he have?

You make me laugh. Now you admit that Kosovo is not independent and is being administered by UN under resolution 1244.

Fine, I accept that but it was not UN who went on this mad destruction of Serbian property. It was the Albanians so again this makes you the guilty ones and thugs.
Did you get permission from the UN to do this?
I didn't think so.
