Why do you want to take credit for any of it when it's so obvious that without US you would've achieved ZERO. Do you enjoy taking credit for someone else's efforts or are you that deluded?
(Peggy, 30 September 2010 01:48)

Remind me again how you were able to turn your allies, the West, into your enemies overnight?

Here we go again. Delusional people hoping to turn the time back. Kosovo's Independence will never be discussed with Serbia. This talks are about giving Serbia a European perspective appetizer so it can stomach Kosovo's Independence. The sad and humiliating thing is that whole world knows it including
Serbia's leadership except Serbian population. While you are waisting your energy on a lost cause Sandjak is simmering.

The American embassy in Belgrade …….., but did not rule out exerting a strong influence.”

Lost 2 wars and a country on the verge of bankruptcy and it will exert “a strong influence” where necessary. If they are that strong on the world stage why don’t they exert that influence on North Korea or Iran? The United Sates of Windbags!

"The U.S., of course, supports Kosovo as an independent state, and believe that the dialogue will not revisit the issue of Kosovo's status”.

That’s not what was agreed to behind closed doors in exchange of dropping status from the Resolution. This statement is a US face saving exercise and if the issue of status should be raised and a resolution found then the Windy ones can come out and say that all parties have reached agreement – I can see the press releases now “following lengthy negotiations which were at times tense two democratic countries reached agreement over Kosovo by dividing into two parts.”

However, there will be a lot of water passed before it can come to this position. The next several months will involve agreement on who does will organise the catering and the type of coffee to be served at meetings.

Let me say just this, time is not the US side; the whole process of recognising Kosovo as independent would take at least 20 years – the US does not have 20 years; in fact it will become a spent power in the next 2 years max. It was always stated that the first term of Obama’s Presidency will be the same as if George Bush was still in power and only during the second term will great changes be made.

Alas, the gargantuan public debt has only sped up that process – 2010 is the year of big commencement changes and by 2012 its bye, bye US. If you doubt this statement look at how the US government hid the GFC issue – the GFC actually commenced in 2006, but not until 2007 did they unveil the problems to their people.

Please continue to look down on us as the ones that don't know how "to negotiate"; The only thing that I regret is that Jeremic is no where to open his mouth and teach everybody else how to "negotiate".

====================

We will continue to look down on you because none of those things you mentioned before you achieved. It was all achieved by someone else on your behalf.

Why do you want to take credit for any of it when it's so obvious that without US you would've achieved ZERO. Do you enjoy taking credit for someone else's efforts or are you that deluded?

You know what is the funny thing that many Albanians seem to ignore: you have absolutely no experience and tradition when it comes to talks or negotiations. For the past 12 years all you have been doing is threatening with violence and shut up or sabotage talks because your masters told you to behave like immature and spoiled children. It will be good that the US will not be involved and Serbia does not need Russia to be there. I am against the EU being there. The talks should be organized by the UN.
(Milan, 29 September 2010 18:32)

Not that I have any desire to change your mind but it's interesting to me how backward the history could be interpreted by some.

If there is anything that K-Albanians have used in this whole affair is their diplomacy and negotiation skills. At the end of every session of talks they have come out as winners precisely because they knew how to play the cards right. They never had any serious military power to counteract Serbian army. You name it, Rambouillet, Ahtisaari, Troika, ICJ, UNGA. In all these Serbia ended up as a loser and you now claim with straight face that Albanians don't know how to negotiate.
But even if you still refuse to see these events for what they are, K-Albanians have still shined in their ability to paint a murderous Serbia and make allies out of all Western countries and above all USA.

Please continue to look down on us as the ones that don't know how "to negotiate"; The only thing that I regret is that Jeremic is no where to open his mouth and teach everybody else how to "negotiate".

Anyway, perhaps it is now clear to Washington that status issues (such a territory and recognition) will have to be on the table and that some common sense and moderation is now emerging out of this mess.
(Jim, 29 September 2010 11:51
Don't know where in the article you got this but wishful thinking I guess. Anyway the agenda will have to be agreed on by all parties and you have Kosovo and majority of EU saying the question of independence will not be on the agenda so the US presence is of no consequence.
The only reason the US will not be in the room, is to remove the argument that Russia should be there. Now it is strictly the EU Kosovo and Serbia, with the US consulting on the sidelines.

winston

You are right, Jovan, "We will not forget". The US is fading in strength, and when the time is right, Serbia will take back what is hers. There is a place called Albania, if Albanians want all things Albanian. Whoever has tried to rule the land of Kosovo, besides Serbs, has failed. It is Serbian sacred holy land. Too much of their blood has been spilled there, to let it be taken - NEVER!!!

No US, No Russian!
Only Kosovo and serbia + EU
There's no need for Us or russia
(Boki, 29 September 2010 16:24)

I agree. And, who knows, maybe there would have been found a viable and mutual acceptable Kosovo solution without the US having unconditionally promising "independance" to the Kosovo Albanians without thinking of the overall consequences.

there´s nothing to discuss.

and what the US believe or not, couldn´t be less important.

Serbia will prevail, and those Clinton´s, Dell´s or whatever they may call themselves, will faint away sooner or later.

but Serbia is there and will be there to take over.

If American was directly involved in the negotiations, there would be no talks, just demands. The peace process may have a chance now.

The Swiss

pre 13 godina

The American embassy in Belgrade yesterday confirmed that this country will not manage the talks "between Serbia and Kosovo", but did not rule out exerting a strong influence.

Interesting enough it is coming from the american embassy in Belgrade why not from 'embassador' Dell in Pristina...

The US did all they could & failed to get UN majority or official recognition of the UDI. They're redundant, esp now that KFOR is out and they have no bargaining chips left. Played out & abandoned. Good.

That is considerably weaker than the previous defiant and categorical statements that status is a closed issue.
[...]
(Jim, 29 September 2010 11:51)

You mean just as "weak" as in the UNGA?

kufr

pre 13 godina

Good that there is no "direct" US involvement in the talks. Let's hope there is no "indirect" involvement either so that constructive talks can be held that leads forward.

Jim

pre 13 godina

So, the US only 'believes' that the talks will not involve status. That is considerably weaker than the previous defiant and categorical statements that status is a closed issue. (So much for KA statements here that status was specifically excluded by the GA resolution, which it wasn't.)

Anyway, perhaps it is now clear to Washington that status issues (such a territory and recognition) will have to be on the table and that some common sense and moderation is now emerging out of this mess.
