"No better president, no likely competition"

A spokeswoman for the ruling Democrats says it would be "legitimate but unrealistic" to expect Boris Tadić to have a counter candidate in party elections.

This is all very well but I remember a time when democracy in the DS had a far greater emphasis than today.

Let a candidate go up against Tadic. DS (and Serbia) has to look to the future. If Tadic 'does a Tito' with DS the party will be left in a worse state than when he joined.

I believe that what she is saying is that there is no better party member who is willing to piss people off for the greater good. Tadic may have his faults, but he seems willing to do whatever he feels necessary to further the greater good. He certainly is not acting like someone who just wants to hold a job.
