No JohnnyC, you are not mistaken. But Kfor (and UN and Eulex), are there under UN res. 1244 that is the God of Kosovo until UNSC change it.
(Staff, 24 September 2010 04:16)

And that's good since Kosovo's UDI does not violate 1244 and in addition 1244 guarantees Kosovo's territorial integrity.

EU in 4-6 years. Kosovo is not a country, its not recognized by five EU countries. Kosovo is about 50 years behind Serbia when it comes to development etc. Come in to the EU? I really really doubt that.
(Staff, 24 September 2010 04:16)
Are you as sure of this as you were about the outcome of the ICJ with your inside information. If you are then Kosovo should be rejoicing in the streets with the prospect that they will be in the EU in record time.

One other thing. They are talking about Kosovo joining the EU? Serbia is a country and will most probably be in the EU in 4-6 years. Kosovo is not a country, its not recognized by five EU countries. Here's how the discussion with Biden probably went: Biden said, "The ICJ confirmed Kosovo's UDI so you must recognize Kosovo." The Greek represented responded, "No, they only said the declaration of independence was not illegal." Biden replied, "No, you are wrong, the ICJ said it's not illegal. Can't you get it through your head?" The Greek representative responded: "Excuse me Mr. Biden, with all due respect, I know how to read and it said the UDI was not illegal and the ICJ didn't rule on independence per se." Biden retorted: "No, you have to look more closely, the ICJ said independence is fine and that everyone should recognize Kosovo. You must either not be able to read or need new glasses" And so on and so on and so on. What a waste of time. This is a situation in which one man is trying to convince the other that the world is flat when it is indeed round. The Greeks know it's round!

Of course the Greeks know it's round! They created it with everything on it.

"...NATO troops by the thousands wearing the KFOR patch, and UN Police and Civilians by the thousands, as well as civilians from every organization that has a donor, but no actual UN troops. Am I just mistaken?"
(JohnnyC, 23 September 2010 17:19)

Well, yes, they are not UN (blue helmet) troops, but KFOR troops, and yesm they are lead by NATO. But as far as I know, there are troups from Switzerland and Austria, for example, which are not NATO members. And of course KFOR is present in Kosovo to supervise and implement UN1244. Sorry for the confusion.

It's the annual meet and greet when so-called "diplomats" tell each other in new, creative phrases to go take a flying @#$% at the moon.

I woudln't call it "dirty politics", but accepting the realities on the ground. Ever wondered why there are UN troops present in the multiethnic dream state of Kosovo?
(Top, 23 September 2010, 16:47)

Maybe I'm just misremembering, but I don't remember ever seeing UN troops in Kosovo. NATO troops by the thousands wearing the KFOR patch, and UN Police and Civilians by the thousands, as well as civilians from every organization that has a donor, but no actual UN troops. Am I just mistaken?

Why include Kosova/o in the hot spot category?
This is what I call dirty politics, which the end result will be zilch.
