If Iran is attacked it will trigger a world war, but our so-called 'leaders' in the world at present are crazy enough to be so stupid.

Honestly I don't think anyone is seriously thinking of attacking Iran. It does this clown a lot of good in maintaining control though if he can convince his people they are about to be attacked. North Korea uses the same tactic.

It largely did just that in Vietnam. We all know how that war ended!

I'm not sure that you do. You might want to check the historical timeline as to when US combat units departed and when the North Vietnamese Army attached conquored the south.

Ian UK, the British govt. does not give a stuff what people in the UK think. We no longer have any say - that stopped under Bliar who couldn't even sneeze without a script and a team of graduate spin doctors.

I cannot bear the hypocrisy whereby everyone is so righteous againt bombing Iraq and yet pro bombing Serbia.

Both were war crimes - the only difference was how it was spun to the public. Once was a cause celebre and the other wasn't. Both were wrong.

"The British establishment has never given a toss of what the public thinks or does. They've been US poodles for years and they will continue with their one-sided
cherished"special realationship" with the US."

If you believe Tony Blair, it was his idea to bomb Belgrade and he had to convince Clinton. Given that the US usually bombs other countries when they have a stake in the outcome, I am inclined to agree. Bombing Serbia did nothing for the US. I am curious as to what the UK may have gotten out of it, or thought they would get out of it.

Also don't expect the UK to join in. It would be political suicide for the coalition Government to go to war with Iran. Public opinion was very much against the Iraq war, eg there were 2 million Londoners who were able to attend the protests in Parliament square on the first day of the Iraq war. Public opinion is a lot more opposed to a war with Iran than it was Iraq. Besides the Lib-Dems would never agree to it.

Or do you think Nick Clegg is going to stop the tories if they decide to go to war against Iran in support of the US?

Clegg has let his party be duped and manipulated. Cameron and Osbourne can't believe their luck. Their main Thatcherite economic ideology forced through, the silencing of the Lib Dems with a promise of eventual destruction because no one can tell the effective difference between the lib dems and the Tories.

Now if the US decide to attack Iran the whole region will go up in flames with consequences hard to contemplate.

I think Iraq and Afganistan has taught the US military some hard lessons and they will take some time to recover from them.

Iran is a lot bigger country than both Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran also has a lot more infrastructure, it is richer and has a much better army than both Iraq and Afghanistan. The US would find fighting a war against Iran would be very different to any other war they have fought. The US just invades small countries who can't defend themselves. Also don't expect the UK to join in. It would be political suicide for the coalition Government to go to war with Iran. Public opinion was very much against the Iraq war, eg there were 2 million Londoners who were able to attend the protests in Parliament square on the first day of the Iraq war.
