That's true, it's not the official governement's policy, of course. But they can be blamed to tolerate attacks on ethnic Serbs, with their funny KPS playing down the incidents of throwing stones and shooting bullets as deeds of "playing kids". A government who really wants to be "multiethnic" should strongly condemn those attacks and severly punish the perpetrators (or their parents, or whoever is responsible) for inciting ethnical hate.

I tend to disagree Top. A perpetrator should be punished the same no matter if the victim is Serb, Albanian, Ahkali, or Nubian. That is the sign of a true mult-ethnic society. Punishing an Albanian who commited an act against a Serbian more severely than if he had committedthe same act against another Albanian is as equally wrong as punishing a Serbian more harshly than an Albanian or the same crime. It can become a Dictatorship of the Minority.

"It has never been the Kosovar governments intention to create instability in its own state. It has also never been their intention to attack ethnic Serbs or force them from their homes. "

It has never been the Kosovar governments intention to create instability in its own state. It has also never been their intention to attack ethnic Serbs or force them from their homes. Albanians in Kosova know quite well what that means, especially those hundreds of thousands who were forced to flee on foot for Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania during Milosevic’s reign, many having perished along the way. Having said that restraining one’s own population from acts of retribution is never an easy exercise given their suffering during those times. One thing the Kosova Government to date has been able to achieve is restraint amongst its people, and they should be commended for it. Anyway I’m not sure what Ivica sees there in the distance. Perhaps he’s got his eyes on Camp Bondsteel?

“We would not be able to peacefully watch someone attacking Serbs in Kosovo.."

That is a Serbian threat/excuse to occupy the northern Kosovo and defacto achieving the Serbian dream to devide Kosovo. So did mother Russia in South Ossetia and Abkhazia although I do not have any simpathy for Shakhavili. The excuse was great.

No, it is simply a country stating that it has a responsibility to protect it's people from attack. In just the same way that any other country would defend itself from attack. Please dont try to turn a perfectly rational comment into something that it is not.
