Yeah, that's what you said 20-30 years ago when we wanted an Independent state.... it's never going to happened.... but as we move forward you keep dreaming about the pigs eye.
(Denis, 10 September 2010 16:11)

If you so independent why don’t your western buddies invest in Kosovo? Well come on, tell me why after 11 going on 12 years they have done nothing??????? If your independent then why don’t you western friend leave Kosovo to fend for itself????
Keep dreaming that your independent and you’ll have an army – armed with what? Do you think that for one moment the EU will allow your lot to be armed and then turn fundamental and start shooting at them? To repeat in a pigs eye Kosovo will get an army.
They are leading you in circles and you just have to grin and bear it and smile. Here is some news for you – last week about 45 Albanians were caught crossing into Serbia and when questioned they said that as factories were opening throughout Serbia they were trying to find jobs. Well every last one was sent back to paradise known as Kosovo. Your fellow countrymen are being returned daily trying to escape heaven on earth

RKS,

Your budget prohibits your from having an army as well as the Atasarri plan. Who will pay for the army you want? You would rather spend money on an army that would be underpaid and under-equipped that your people? NATO will not support your army so you will have to divert funds from social programs your people need.

John C,

the Ahtisaari Package states that while Kosovo is a supervised state it must have an army of 2500 active and 800 reserves...there is no active provision that prohibits the Government of Kosovo to enlarge that number to say 15,000.

Kosova right now have an army that is KSF but only will chang actually name to Army of Kosovo and that is the only official army who will protect people and territory in the future from any kind of threats from out whatever else.

Amer, I've seen the KSF on the side of the road hitchhiking. There is no way that they can replace US troops in Afghanistan. The 100,000 Albanianss trying to join the KSF can't be supported by their own government. NATO members pay for their own armies. There is no central budget to pay soldiers from so Kosovo would have to pause those 100,000 on it's own. Can Kosovo afford that? Plus, you can burn the US once, but we wouldn't trust you again. Kosovo agreed to the Atassari plan regardless of where the Serbs agreed as a condition to the US's recognition of Kosovo's independence.

Personally I think more countries should be like Iceland and Costa Rica and not have a military. However the countries of the Western Balkans are not as stable as Iceland and Costa Rica; therefore I do not blame Kosovo for wanting a full army to contribute to stability and so that Kosovo can defend itself.

From whom! From the remaining 150K Serbs I guess!
(Bez_Cenzure, 9 September 2010 14:28)

No from the Serbian state. Your IM just made an open threat today while in southern Serbia. We keep such things in mind; considering the past. If anything of that kind goes down in the future at least it wont go down without a fight.

The A-Plan actually forbids Kosovo to have a standing army. However, since Serbs refuse to sign their part of this agreement, it is only understandable that the A-Plan will be revised in that matter so that Kosovo can have a core army.

No, actually the plan is for those Americans leaving Afghanistan next year to be replaced by eager Georgians and Kosovars. Somebody here just a couple of days ago was saying they had 100,000 young Albanians volunteering for their army-to-be - the numbers sound about right. There's no problem with political will here, either - Sejdiu has been nagging Nato officials since the first platoon finished Basic Training to take some troops, and he may soon get his heart's desire. (The first Georgian died in Afghanistan just a couple of days ago. I hope Nato helps his family, but there's no other way of getting combat-hardened forces than by sending them into combat. And battle-hardened troops provide a better deterrent than inductees. And deterrence is the main purpose of any army.

COULD is a very different word from WILL. NATO suspended training of the KSF when the KSF had an honor guard ceremony with weapons and a NATO flag displayed. Let's see what NATO says this time. This just goes to show that the Kosovo Albanian officials use people to achieve their end results and could care less for the people who helped them out.

I don't think that the 5 EU countries not recognizing Kosovo will want that. The joint EU/Serbia UN resolution which was submitted Thursday will also make it difficult for the Kosovo Albanians to get support for a standing Army.

Jovan

this will certainly be a very obedient toy-army in the service of foreign interests.

actually, the K-albanians have not really changed since ottoman times!

they really cannot be compared with freedomloving Serbs at all.
