Minister on "red lines, avoiding confrontation"

Conscious of the situation and of great international pressure, Serbia has adopted a middle of the road policy when it comes to Kosovo.

EA, I think that Serbian politicians are aware what their positions may bring, they do not really need a keen diplomatic mind like yours for assistance, especially from a person that does not have Serbia's best interests in mind. As for the EU, I agree with some commentators here, being in that club, as an underling, is no big prize. As was pointed out in recent meetings, economic and political aspects of the EU are separate. Serbia can still acquire loans from Europe, keep undergoing monetary and social reforms, and not be castrated with EU membership political policy. IMO, stay the hell out of Union, but enjoy its fruits.

"The current Serbia's policy towards Kosovo would mean losing both Kosovo and EU. Have you thought about it? If yes great but don't blame the other for the misfortune. If no think it again!
(EA, 31 August 2010, 15:48)"

The idea is to keep "Kosova" in limbo and to impede its international space and development. Like keeping you guys out of the UN for a start.

Lose the EU? The EU is no big prize to begin with. Becoming the servant of London, Paris and Berlin is certainly not worth the price of Kosovo, in fact seems like utter stupidity to me to accept such a double whammy!

“This is a middle of the road policy that will not jeopardize European integration but represents a political and democratic fight to preserve our integrity,” Ljajić said and added that Serbia is doing what any modern day country would do.
