But there will be a time when you will recognize Kosova, you will not have a choice, as matter of fact you'll ask for it yourself.

This would be perfect if Serbia were to agree to negotiate on the conditions of recognition and not on status itself.
Otherwise it is merely a trick to get Kosovo to renounce their independence to enter talks and then to leave in limbo for decades of "negotiations".
Talks on status will never happen, talks on conditions of recognition has a chance.
(pss, 29 August 2010 00:15)

Very well said. Not only that but if there is a chance there will be a chance only after the current Serb constitution is nullified and after that only after Serbia has thrown out some ideas on the manners which recognition is acceptable to them. With that said however, the window of opportunity for even talks on the conditions of recognition is closing down. The more of the ICJ, the more of UNGA moves Serbia pursues the less incentives there exist as it seems Serbia loses all the time and becomes more confrontational with each move it makes. Not only that, the more recognitions the faster this window of opportunity closes.

This is becoming like a broken record already. You know what mr Dzurinda? Who gives a damn, you not Germany.

So the answer is easy, and any 10 year old can understand it. Negotiate with Serbia and one the negotiation ends, if Serbia agrees that certain territories should remain Albanian, then countries will recognize Kosovo. Wow, isn't that the future Kosovo's Albanians want? Isn't that better than having only 69 recognitions and having to proclaim yourselves independent every other day?

“We never said that we would never recognize Kosovo,” Dzurinda said,

“We have always stressed that the interests of Belgrade need to be taken into consideration and that position is not changing.

So since the stance of Belgrade is that will never recognize Kosovo and Slovakia's stance is that Serbia's position need to be taken into consideration. Then what is wrong with admitting that " Slovakia will never recognize kosovo"?

" am certain that if you substituted "the Hungarian minority of 550000 in Slovakia" with "the 50 million Latinos in US" your arguments would've been totally different.
Leonidas

You compare apples et oranges.
The ancestors of those Hungarians lived there for over 1000 years in their own country until the treaty of Trianon, what did not respect the ethnic borders and threw those Hungarians to the lions. The area north of the Danube, were most Hungarians in Slovakia still live was almost 100% inhabited by Hungarians. Just imagine a region inhabited by Greeks given to Bulgaria.

As for the US if the immigration would be limitless maybe 50-60 million Mexicans and other Hispanics would come to the US in no time. Current and future Hispanics have no problem to live in an English speaking country because of their economic salvation. They come here for a better life. Occasionally I visite San Diego, where I read heartbreaking stories about life in Mexico and people attempt to cross the border. For them the US - even if they can get only low level manual jobs with long hours - is still the promised land. Just imagine that Turkey would be a land of high living standard and Greece a much, much poorer one. I am sure in that case many Greeks would try to move to Turkey disregarding the different religion and language there.

That makes no sense. Being a latino doesn't mean being Mexican. As a matter of fact you can be latino and not like Mexico or Mexicans. Your wrong assumption is that Puerto Rican's, Argentinians, Peruvians, Hondurans, Costa-Ricans, Dominicans etc etc. = Mexicans. Do you even live in the US? Nobody that has lived in the US should be naive enough to make that assumption. Your analogy is wrong because you equalize one solid ethnic group with the many ethnic and racial groups that fall under the term latino which do not always like each other anyway.

Leonidas

Slovakia is entitled of her opinion BUT one thing is for certain that the Kosovo issue it WAS NOT a question of "international law" as previously stated by countries opposed to Kosovo independence. At least let be honest just for once. The Serbian application to ICJ it was purely about its own interest TO DELAY further recognition of Kosovo independece which Serbia has succeeded so far. Slovakia has its own problem with the Hungarian minority. That is the issue. Now that Jeremic got polically slapped by the ICJ his supporters are trying to find excuses for the political and legal loss.
