Compromise sought with western countries

Serbia will accept talks, but not a drastic change to its <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2010&mm=07&dd=28&nav_id=68748" class="text-link" target= "_blank">UN General assembly Kosovo resolution</a>, MFA sources said in Belgrade today.

and whatever happened to the countless proclamations from various EU people over the past months and years that the Kosovo issue and Serbia's EU integration will never be linked? Now explain to me why Serbia should believe anything they are told by the "quint"? I am English and live in the UK and I really do not feel particularly happy with the way my government is acting. Especially given the fact that they act with no mandate from the electorate here. I would bet large amounts of money that 95% or more of the UK public have no idea just what the government here is doing. I find it quite amazing that they can act this way after having spent many years and many soldiers lives preventing the IRA from achieving their goals. Why will we not just encourage both the Serbs and the Albanians to come to the negotiation table and discuss the situation with a view to finding a mutually agreeable solution. And by mutually I mean between Serbia and Albania, not the US or the UK or anyone else. It is about time the "quint" stopped sticking their nose into other's business. Concentrate on issues closer to home and let the likes of Serbia look after her own country. And while you are at it, stop with the two faced blackmailing, it really doesnt paint you in a good light, in my opinion.

The real question "then what?" should be directed to Kosovo Albanians. Go to the table, act with honour and with consideration of the future. That way you will achieve the best lasting solution. Alternatively, continue with your war.

What you state doesn't make much sense. Even in the worst case possible we would still be an EU & US protectorate. You on the other hand propose that we sit on a table and agree with the Serb constitution and become a Serbian protectorate (which is what autonomy is essentially). Such thing makes no sense whatsoever. Why cut our direct ties with the EU and US and tie ourselves with the very same people that call our whole ethnicity terrorists and arsonist on a daily basis? That is committing suicide. Plus, why agree to do business through a malignant middle man (Serbia), when we can remain directly tied to the EU and the US without the middle man involved in our business? There is no advantage whatsoever becoming a Serb protectorate compared to remaining a EU and US protectorate. Even our most ultimate and disastrous failure is way better than what the Serb constitution provides as its highest possible scenario. Our choice is the best choice possible, meanwhile the likes of you and Kostunica can continue to wage holly war to the west. See how much we care.

Go to the table with a party that insists that it simply cannot recognize the independence you have already declared and seen recognized by the most powerful countries in the world - because that other party claims it is against its brand-new, purpose-designed constitution?

I don't think so.

The war is over, long-term conditions favor the Albanians (by 2025 the combined populations of AL + KS will be approximately equal to that of Serbia, by 2050 the number will be larger). All that Kosovo has to do is to continue developing, like Taiwan, except that the China it's facing is much smaller, shrinking, and aging fast.

"Reading the above paragraph, I know for sure Serbia will get a NO vote on its favor. Then WHAT?

I cannot speak for the laws of Serbia but to give meaning you must read a document as a whole. Only Serbia can speak for Serbia and that is a statement of fact at this time.

2. The Serbian parliament expresses its full commitment to the achievement of state and political unity regarding the issue of retaining Kosovo-Metohija and affirms that the Republic of Serbia will never, either explicitly or implicitly, recognise the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija.

Reading the above paragraph, I know for sure Serbia will get a NO vote on its favor. Then WHAT?

KU, the draft resolution can be found here:

nothing earth shattering in its vocabulary.

These politicians in Serbia are a bit contradictory. All talk about negotiations and compromise and then they go write and submit a resolution in 24 hours. Without talking to anybody. Without compromising. Without negotiating. Without coordinating actions with anybody.
By the way, does anybody have a link to see this famous resolution? Or should we form our opinion on what Samardzic and Dacic and the others say? I checked at the UN GA web site but I could not even find that there is a meeting scheduled for 9 September.
