johnny - what are you on about? what did the EU have to do with the NATO campaign in 1999? (nothing)

EU divisions on foreign policy topics are nothing new...

Ask the UK. A very influential EU member. Then you'll find how the bombing campaign was started. There isn't such a clear separation between EU and individual members as you state. Vast majority of EU members were part of that campaign.

Serbia is not trying to be part of the solution. Serbia is trying to impose the solution. These are two different beasts. The thing though is that policy in the Balkans is made in Brussels not in Belgrade. Djelic and some others still have a hard time figuring out. One only need to go back to 1999 and realize this. If you try to impose solutions on Brussels they WILL make you regret it. 1999 was a clear example of that.

"He believes that the decision of some EU members to tie the issue of Kosovo and Serbia's EU integration was wrong,"

- has the penny finally dropped in the minds of party members of D yeS to all that EUSSR demand?

Kostunica has pointed this out again and again yet D yeS to all that EUSSR demand lied again and again this was not the case.

D yeS has lost all credibility they have had the rug pulled from under their feet by none other than their so called EU pals!

DS is a shambles and Tadic & Co should step aside for a government that truly puts national interest including both economic prosperity and soverignty first and foremost not one that falsely claims the EU technocrats are friends of Serbia when its been obvious these so called "friends" put nothing but their self interest first and that of Serbia and Serbians last!

Full EU membership is not nor should never have been seen as Serbia's only option but one of many. Given evidence of economic calamity across many EU members (Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, etc etc...) full EU membership will just decimate Serbia's economic prosperity - at the benefit of the large EU members multinational companies who will mop up all that is profitable on the cheap and with little to no gain to the Serbian populace on the contrary what is received will be misery (work work work for little return - profits sent to multinational coffers), heartache (for the loss of Kosovo) and greater debt.

Is the EU the right path given what has happened to many small economies who are members? Frankly the anwser is obviously not!

Oh what a tangled web we weave....
